I've been reading comments on the show's FB page for the recent episode (504), and a bunch of (straight homophones) were going on about "this came out of nowhere, they never showed any interest in each other". COME ON. Did they even watch the show? They were totally sleeping together ages ago.
I had friends that watched the show and never noticed the HUGE sexual tension between then until the Kiss, so I'm not surprised by those kinds of people making those kinds of comments, and honestly I couldnt care less. The cast and crew acknowledges it and that's all I care about :D

I mean, we didn't see a lot of it, but the moment where Shaw goes to Tomas' hideout and she's talking to Finch and Root comes in and is all like "Hey Shaw, how's your "date", she's gritting her teeth SO hard, and it's such a fake smile, and she's clearly PISSED. There are lots of things i would wish we could see before jealous Root. Although, i wouldn't mind seeing more of it, it's so entertaining.

They did an interview once where they said their relationship, at least the parts that aren't spelled out for us, kind of depends on different writers' interpretations. Like, one writer might think it's all flirtation and nothing has really happened yet, so the episodes written by him would be more subtext heavy. They said another writer was totally like, Oh yeah. You guys have definitely had A LOT of overnights. I think this particular episode was written by the latter. LOLLL
Their sly look to each other at the end always slays me. As soon as the writers and execs saw their natural chemistry they sure took us the audience along for the ride.
