We went over to Copenhagen to watch these guys play all of Ennio Morricone's famous filmscores live in the very same venue in August. It was an amazing and memorable experience! We gave them a ten minute standing ovation for this particular piece of music. Spine tinglingly good!
Me too. And it was my second time seing this concert. We even had the same seats, right behind the solo trumpetist, when he stands among the audience like the soprano.
My wife and I went from the UK to see it too. Stunningly good concert.
I am so jealous of all of you. I love the movie itself and this Orchestra get's damn near perfect. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I watched this Orchestra perform it.
Couldn’t get tickets. The DN Konserthuset is stunning in itself.
The Orchestra was born on the 28th of October 1925!.......... So next year is the 100th birthday and knowing DR (I am a Dane), they won't waste a good celebration. Maybe something big is coming, who knows? Keep an eye on their homepage.

Yes a great concert. I have just been to the Raiders of the Symphony (treasure hunter movies, big focus on Indiana Jones). They told there were some issues finding the right notes for some of the Indiana Jones melodies. So they wrote to John Williams himself and he sent his own handwritten notes! He had also seen their videos and was very much impressed and found them super cool!

I was at this concert i august in Copenhagen. An evening dedicated to Enrio Morricones fantastic film music played by the danish national symphony. What an evening.

It was an amazing concert. I was also at the "rerun" this summer and at the sci-fi concert last year. And I think I've seen all their movie/game concerts at DR.

This was 1 song of an evening of music used in the Sergio Leone movies. The hanging guy was merely a prop, to add to the atmosphere. Once upon a time in the West and A Few Dollars More, also done that evening, are also worth your time, as well.

This is a great performance of probably my favorite western.

The National Danish Symphony Orchestra has a very wide repertoire of music and often performs music pieces that are “off the cuff” for a symphony orchestra.

D, I'm guessing that you haven't seen the movie to which this theme belongs, since you don't know the meaning of the hanging man over the orchestra. It is an integral part of the plot of the movie. I strongly recommend that you see the movie; it is one of the greatest westerns ever made. The beautiful second piece, which began with the piano solo, is a tune within the movie titled "Ecstacy of Gold," and is heard at the climax of the movie. I love your reviews and have subbed; keep up the good work.

The DR1 (and National) Symphony Orchestra is the Danish equivalent to the English BBC1 Symphony Orchestra, so it's top-quality public service, and if you make a deeper dive you will also find that they have the same kind of high production standards to make children like this kind of symphony orchestra music for educational purpose to "nurture" their development.

Well you have to see the movie again to get the "Hanging Body" Professional Musicians and Professional Singers, it doesn't get any better. They have done many a movie theme songs. Others westerns and some the James Bond movies.
Written by the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) who has written many many film scores but none has had the impact of this, this score is from a trio of movies out of Italy in the 60's commonly known as "Spaghetti Westerns"...A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) For A few Dollars More (1965) and This one, The Good The Bad The Ugly (1966) all directed by legendary Italian film director Sergio Leone (1929-1989) Both of these men have influenced many directors and composers...These movies also launched Clint Eastwood into the stratosphere. Everything by this orchestra is amazing and there's a lot on here to see. The hanging man is just a theme from the movies as hanging wasn't so much justice dispensed as it was pretty much a sport back then. Tuva Semmingsen (Wah Wah) is a Norwegian soprano and she too is also amazing, please listen to "Bang Bang" and look close she's wearing guns for earrings...Christine Nonbo Andersen also amazing, the skill required for all this is beyond belief, one single note out of place and the entire piece is shattered, it's mind boggling to see what a group of dedicated people can do together, one no more or less important than another, astonishing.

Go and see the film, it explaines that hanging man. It is a part of the plot. Amazing piece of music, a tribute to the composer as played here. The other silhouette you see here in this video is Clint Eastwood, one of the 3 main characters in the film.

I love this arrangement of the movie score. Having an orchestra capable of making such performances in such a small country makes me happy being from Denmark.
I would have **loved** to be there at this performance. It is world class music. Yes, I do not forget Ennio Morricone who composed this wonderful piece.
As far as I know, that disturbing image is from a scene in the film. Oh, yes, I am pretty sure it was a dummy or a cardboard cut-out.
I also like the lovely camera work they do here.

The two pieces of wood are made of oak attached by a leather strap. It's part of the percussion section in the orchestra. Is used quite often in different pieces of music.

Late but not to spoil the movie...he hangs ALOT in the movie, yet he never dies from it...maybe... Point is, it is a big plot point in the movie and makes sense that they have a cutout of it.
Every reactor listening to this one, has the same 'wtf' moment when they see the dummy hanging. You've got to watch the movie (same name as this piece, with Clint Eastwood) to get it. Great reaction as always.

In the movie, there are a number of scenes where people have nooses around their necks, although only once does anyone actually hang.
