Yep, cool fun style of gameplay that you can do several things with, was pleasantly surprised with the feel of this character. Doubt my build is any good but it's provided a few days of fun which is good enough.
My man with the 3LP Alluvion! Battlemage is so satisfying, I remember playing it in alpha and you could get infinite stacking attack speed and damage scaling which was pretty hilarious with triggers.
I love that he just wanted to try the game out and now hes trying to do some crazy builds. This game could use more mathil builds
The end game is just very fun, especially for a release
how is this a crazy build
@@coroto the build itself isn't crazy. but i like that he's trying to just wing it without looking at any guide
@@corotohow are you a guy
Been playing LE for 3 years, leave it to Mathil to find some shit I've never seen. This looks very cool.
Shatter Strike is probably my favorite skill in this game.
The cool thing about this game being new is there are still builds that have never been seen before. Perfect example right here. I also enjoy how they add uniques based on player suggestions.
Well the game is new it should be normal to see builds never seen before..
The game is hardly new. It's been playable for years at this point.
What makes this build unique compared to path of exiles spell trigger builds?
Literally has been seen plenty of times before, no need to blindly fanboy like this.
@@ReinLie It's in fact basically impossible for a "never before seen" build to appear from thin air in LE. The game doesn't work like that, most builds are basically pre-packaged in the game by the devs. It's not PoE, guys. lol
mana strike itself is kinda nuts, there's a node that get's you huge base crit from max mana and there's affixes that give you lots % lightning damage if youre over 300 mana, I'm rocking that and its amazing
I've never tried a mana-stacker in ARPG, and wanted to play Spellblade next, might just go with that!
Does sound like mana strike can be pretty good but even after speccing the AoE nodes on it the AoE is pitiful, can't imagine doing that as a main skill tbh.
Take the lightning storm nodes on the left and the sparkcharge on the lower left and stack attack speed. It MELTS through bosses
Frost claw, and shatter strike are by far the coolest ice spells ive seen.
If you like this, I think you'd really like some stuff from the paladin skills. Particularly smite interactions/healing hands interactions.
What'd they add with Healing Hands' tree? Last patch I was playing a really fun Hands of Judgement Paladin and was always wishing Healing Hands had a tree implemented which it didn't at the time.
@@_alex_y.not_ you can watch carn on twitch or ty, he is running a 20-30k ward and great clear speed healing hands smite paladin, looks really good, probably my next build
@@_alex_y.not_ It can essentially scale off of a bunch of things and certain interactions allow for some good ward gain as well as good damage!
I've had a lot of fun with a shatterstrike spellblade, but I specced my mana strike to regain as much mana as possible. The play style was to get into negative mana, then hit once with mana strike, and then you're full mana again (or close to it). My build was more about spamming as much shatterstrikes as possible; this one is more about spell spam.
It's refreshing to play a game that's play and go like this (compared to Path of exile). As they say, variety is the spice of life. I'm genuinely excited to play through all of the games archetypes. Nice to see you playing this game, and experimenting a bit.
"I'M JUST HAVING FUN, TRYING STUFF OUT."
Gods, how I wish more players just did this...
The game is so accessible and totally allows for and welcomes this kind of experimentation!!!
yea the end game has a low barrier to entry all things considered. there's no need to go hyper meta gamer mode if you don't want to.
Finally not a warlock or falconer build
I played flame reave back in early access and it was really fun
My favorite battlemage setup is based around spark charges and the Fragment of the Enigma unique! It uses Surge and Static to proc Lightning Blasts, and spam mana strike to get even more spark charges, sustain your mana, and even more spark charges through the Mana Storm node. Made the build before the unique was out, but the extra 240% AoE and Int scaling really makes the build shine. (the 10% proc chance from any damage, not just melee, is really good too!) I guess it's closer to CoC, since your melee attacks are just delivery systems, but it feels really good to play.
Could you give me more info on this? what skills/specs
Time to roll yet another character
Abomination stacking Necro has been pretty insane. They did nerf it, but still. 150k dmg per hit at currently lvl 68 with meh gear melts bosses insanely fast. Takes a bit of prep time tho but I'm not in a hurry.
I'm waiting for mathil to discover the runemaster's runic invocation, i think its my favorite skill of any rpg i played.
I'd say Rune mage is basically akin to a hybrid battlemage idea youd like or full castor - the main point being comboing runes to generate a new spell or ability I think. Seems to have over 40 combos
LE tackles Mage and, as Mathil says, build/spender systems very well. Couple of points into mana strike and it's 3 dagger-speed hits to top up. It's better than 15 lunging strikes OR completely shaping up your build around solving resource gen. :)
Alluvion seems pretty good with any melee skill that converts to one damage type. This one has 3 lp so if u manage to put some really good attack speed into it, it'll be more damage than this but the 0lp version seems fine for mobs in regular monoliths. I'm not sure the damage types here.
Teleport with the elemental nova nodes lets you move very quickly and throw down 3+ elemental novas per button press. If you do spec into elemental nova, I highly recommend normal teleport
but is the 3 novas worth?? i dont think its adding much damage
I rerolled spellblade today and now i see this...
I have to say it's so refreshing to see him not know the game inside out and going back to basics and build crafting like a champ :D, not saying he doesn't do that in poe but gosh it seems easier to build craft in LE then poe.
I highly recommend looking into Battlemage's Endeavour and Dragorath's Claw, both are Unique Weapons that can be used for this Archetype.
What do you build arround it?=
This is cool. I just dropped this sword today. Enjoying falconer rn but might try something like this for my next character
Man I can’t wait to play all the classes. I hope EHG doesn’t change anything before I get the chance to enjoy them.
When Chronostasis dropped not long ago, i was like: daaamn! i want to make a ward stacking spellblade to do Battlemage stuffs or something, lets see what is up in youtube. Ofc Mathil alrdy got something going on! I lold :) yea, not really the same stuff that i got in my mind, but its a cool idea you have there with spellblade. Def gonna tweak around with your build, if my Chrono stuffs fail. This is the main thing for Chronostasis btw: "Your melee skills consume up to (500-2000) ward, gaining +1 melee damage per 10 ward consumed"
OK this build looks pretty sick...
stack up attack speed, crit, ward on hit, ward reten --> slice and ignore everything --> immortal
What is the icicle spiral that sometimes pops up? I've played shatter strike and never seen that before
That's from the specced ice spiral in Frost Claw that I trigger with melee attacks
Thanks a bunch, appreciate it mate. Gonna go test it out@@Mathilification
Tempest strike from the primalist is the true poe coc
Most fun class I’ve played yet I freakin love it
Runemaster is super fun , try it !
Thing I do like about the game is the "gems" synergy, you don't see that in poe, no this gem makes that gem proc, lets you do some passive added damage, one if the first things I saw with good functional was falconer with umbral blades and shadow daggers only to find out its a meta build... sad, still, a lot of things I'd like to test out and try.. the only class I see being a bit not my style is the druid stuff, though seeing a helm letting you unleash a horde of squirrels does make me laugh.
I was genuinely hoping the build complexity in this game would suck you in for a bit. There's a lot of room in this game for your creativity!
good to see you trying so new thing
shatter strike feels really satisfying to use
I need them to release this on consoles, stat.
The first time I played LE during early access I had the same exact experience; many games struggle to capture the hybrid fantasy of spellblades / melee mages and I was impressed by Last Epochs implementation of it. There are some primalist and beastmaster builds in last epoch that feel like truly hybrid classes as well.
What's really funny to me is that while Last Epoch does a fantastic job of establishing clear and distinct playstyles for its melee casters it actually has, in my opinion, very poor implementations for the traditional marauder or berserker archetype. Seriously, you can play a class with a 50/50 split of int/strength and keep up with or surpass the pure spellcaster classes, but the classic big man with big weapon gameplay somehow misses the mark lol.
Spark Charges are how you play/imitate CoC in LE. You want to grab the idols to apply spark charge on melee hit, then get the spark charge off hand unique that gives it 100% more dmg and 100% more area (Fragment of the Enigma). You then scale int, and achieve 100% crit by using a rune dagger for the base crit on it's implicit. The build is absolutely ridiculous, and I can assure you it will be the best build you play as a mage. You would still use shatter strike as a spender, as it's easily the best applicator for charges from melee imo.
There's really no better way to play a battlemage in LE currently imo, and the scaling is pretty much unlimited.
from looking at skills, i doubt that is only one way to play the class. i think there is suppose be 3 build styles and spark charge is just one of the builds. Ice build seems centered around shattered strike, elemental nova and Ice cascade. cast shattered strike->proc elemental nova->proc ice cascade. ice looks like build that is goes just goes omm on everything that gives mana regen or mana on hit regain. Fire build seems centered around firebrand, fireball, and Flame reaver, just stack ignite chance on hit to 400% and cast firebrand which casts flame reaver where flame reaver casts fireball. Maybe throw in elemental nova for more ignite procs. Lightning is surely based around CoC, Discharge, Lightning strike and Surge. So far I want to make a fire spellblade that just stacks 1000 ignite on an enemy.
@@dodang_9147 Not sure if you didn't read or just can't. Obviously it's not the only way to play the class. I was showing someone obsessed with Cast on Crit, how to play a build that feels like Cast on Crit. No time for a novel though sorry, gl with that.
@@dodang_9147 Also, you're fundamentally wrong, shattered strike is 100% not just for "ice builds" lol.
@@clickbaitrater8945 Spark Mage build are not only COC builds. The more common version is Meteor COC Sorcerer. I am honestly surprised they didn't nerf it yet. Here's sample of that build: ruclips.net/video/ARdTyzY55uw/видео.html
@@dodang_9147 Guess you didn't read again lol.
"im a battle mage" ~Sacred Battlemage
I wonder what your take would be on Runemaster
Oh so that's how you duel wield
Ayo level 80 with 800 health is wild lol. It's pretty hard to build health in this game though
Weeeeeelllllll a lot of our defence here comes from ward which happens during combat mostly, that said I'm now 90 with like 1500 life and more ward potential, did have to sort some more defence out when entering empowered stuff.
@@Mathilification ah i didn't realize sorry. In combat with 1k ward on top of 800 health is totally fine for most stuff. I know I've had no trouble in empowered monos with 1200-1400 health. Glancing blow/dusk shroud is definitely one of the better defensive layers and seems like most rogue classes can maintain 100% no problem so you don't need as much flat health as other builds
Dang, gotta at least take one build into some corruption pushing
Would it be possible to throw on the infinite ward gloves that drop from the "exiles" to get more defences
swordmaster of hoeth vibes (warhammer)
This game is like if path of exile was actually fun.
Damn, no longer a 1 game andy, crazy
This really reminds me of "Spellblade Champion" by Varquynne.
Feel more like Cast on Crit from POE.
This game is a proc fest. If you're into it, heaven.
Last Epoch
no lastepochtools character snapshot tho?
Damn its so cool
Why?? Now I want to try out this. it makes me think of Mu-Online from very long ago when that was a new game. There you had magic gladiator. This realy reminds me.. Guess I need go make one to quench the need I have now.
Hmm why not 2nd sword in the offhand? I think for spellblade, this is the way.
Do you have an update for this?
Where PoB??
Gigachad
Yay
B L A D E, easy!
Lol its a very similar build i made like a year ago
Okaaaayyy
This game in general seems to have an odd amount of support for traditionally bad hybrid playstyles, I'm guessing due to the multi-faceted ways to scale damage. For instance, there are minion builds where the player also participates in combat and can do decent damage or be tanky (Beastmaster, Falconer), builds that can utilize both melee and spell damage (Shaman, Spellblade), etc. I've not seen another ARPG have hybrid builds that are even half as effective as this game.
Dual wielding is crazy strong in LE because all affixes are global rather than being local to a weapon.
Spellblade is a class fantasy I look out on games, but rarelly is balanced on both ends. I was really into trying it in LE, but my Pc can't run the game. Hope PoE 2 has some of it and my Pc can handle that game.
If your pc cant run LE, it is honestly doubtful it can run POE 2 which will be much more demanding.
turn up some more screen shake please
Class is fun but it is quite lame there is basically shatter strike oriented builds, nothing else really works as well.
turn off screen shake please PepeHands
If he likes it he can use it?
I like it
I like it
dead game 1.000.000%
Weird, steam charts says there's 120,000 people playing right now at 2 AM U.S west coast time. Pretty good for a dead game.
There is no build why the likes
Lvl80 doing lvl75 monoliths. Of course the build is gunna look decent. I want to try other builds but when im lvl73 smacking lvl85 monos with my Falconer it makes it hard to want to try anything else. :/
Grow your attention span and watch more than 5 seconds of the video lol... He's in area level 90 in later clips.
@IhtYt ADHD like a mfer today. I saw lvl75 area and immediately commented. 🤣
All of these games are the same. Arpg is wors than fps with diversity of experience. Honestly surprised they are even a thing with how repetitive an unengaging they are
Spellblade can hit some pretty high ward stacking with all its ward gain passives and get giga tanky.
