In every level of baseball, runners are required to touch each base in order when advancing or retreating. That's kind of fundamental to a game called BASE ball. When a runner misses a base, the defensive team has the option to appeal the baserunning infraction. When that runner is the preceding (lead) runner and there are already two outs, that third out on appeal nullifies any trailing/following runner who may have potentially "scored" thus wiping all following runs off the board.
Although OBR (pro) and NCAA (college) require appeals be made during live ball action, NFHS (high school) allows verbal appeals during the dead ball period following the play in question. All levels require appeals occur prior to the next pitch, play, or attempted play.
Also, this might sound simple but, a runner can avoid this call by simply touching each base while celebrating a home run.

As an umpire for 10u-15u, I see this happen on occasion. I've never understood why teams don't have a coach in charge of watching players touch home, especially in tournaments. Had a 12aaa player miss touching home plate in a tournament semi-final. Would have been tieing run, but missed. Through comes in to catcher 2 seconds after kid missed. Catcher steps on home, I call the out, game over.

Umpires will typically do their job and look at the plate/base to see if they touch it. If they don't we don't say anything. If anyone see it and ask for an appeal, they gonna win everytime. Side note home team lost the game by 1 run that day go figure.

There were already two outs so the game would have been over regardless of which runner missed home. But if there had been no outs prior to that at bat, what would have happened if the lead runner missed home? Because by rule if a runner passes the runner ahead of him he's supposed to be ruled out, and a trailing runner that touches a base prior to the lead runner having touched it is considered to have passed the lead runner. So unless there is a specific rule that addresses that specific situation then the rules would suggest that would have been a game ending triple play if there had been no outs. No?

Out side the park of bear down field, there is a tree left of straight center field … while the game going, some measured about where that ball hit cause they couldn’t find, the tree is exactly 479 ft from homeplate, the ball was estimated to w0 to 40 feet beyond that tree.. thou mark cheated too, he was a class act, we all loved mark.. … anyway thanks folls

Most of this epidemic of missing home is the "It's all good clean fun" mantra of TV networks, and now, even MLB themselves showcasing bat flips and other unsportsmanlike bullshit. This one wasn't horrible showboating like I've seen on most of the missed home plate plays, but there was still some early celebration that could have and should have waited.
So sad that any time people speak out about showcasing the showboating, they are actually accused of racism, with idiots like Stephen A. Smith saying "You don't want he game played the right way. You want it played he "white" way." He is basically proving Billy Hoyle in White Men Can't Jump right. He is basically admitting that in his opinion, black players would rather look good and lose than win the game. So therefore, they can't possibly stop themselves from showboating and taunting, etc. Bat flips. Posing at home plate on home runs that turn out to be just short off the wall and getting thrown out at second when it should have been a stand up double or even a triple. No..black or white, I'm pretty sure that is the WRONG way.

Runners are assumed to have touched a base they pass until there is an appeal. So, by passing the plate, he legally scored. But, once the appeal was made, the run was taken off the board, and the runner declared out. Had there been no appeal, he would, by rule, have scored.

You *CAN* shortcut from 2B to home in baseball. If the defense fails to appeal, it counts. Baseball is a game of responsibility: the defense is responsible for making sure the offense completes their base running responsibilities.

That used to be the rule 25-30 years ago but it changed, rightfully so. Because the simple reality is a base runner is allowed to correct their mistake, provided it's within the time frame allowed. Example - if you miss 3rd base, and are 30 feet towards home & finally hear your 3B coach yelling to you to get back, you can go back & touch 3B. However if a succeeding runner has already touched 3B, then the runner who missed cannot go back, UNLESS -- the succeeding runner needs to go back, touch 3B, step towards 2B to allow the 1st runner to touch 3B, then they all continue. UNLESS -- the 1st runner did not touch home plate! Confusing, I know!
Also to your point, the runner won't get away with it if the defense appeals. Take this same video, and the runner missed 3B instead of home. The appeal would have been to 3B instead of home plate, the out is called, same result - no runs. This forces the defense to pay attention. On this play, the fielders have nothing to do EXCEPT watch the runners touch their bases!!
In the case of home plate, once a succeeding runner has touched home plate, the preceding runner who missed it has no option - he's either safe or if appealed, out. Also, if a runner misses 3B then touches home, he cannot go back to touch 3B. Home plate is like a steel door that shuts & doesn't allow a runner to go backwards. I had a play in a 11u Perfect Game tournament where the runner on 3B did not tag on a ball that was caught - pitcher was in the windup so he got a huge lead & ran when the ball was hit. He scored. He then ran back to 3B, beat the throw, the 3rd baseman touched 3B and my call was "He's out & I'll explain why" as I pointed to the coach. It ended the inning. Coach totally understood & was fine with it.

There are no ifs/ands/buts to this, yes it sucks for the kid who jumped over the plate and it sucks that he robbed his teammate of the glory of the home run, but the emotional appeal just does not apply here. Never will. I think the fact you think this (even when appealed by the other team, who still had their heads in the game after just about losing it) is something that should have been glossed over is disgraceful. Essentially, you would have the umpire telling the other team "hey, about your appeal, I feel emotionally that it is better "for the game" to say he touched home base (even though I know he didn't), so appeal denied!" Seriously, if you were one of the parents of the team that missed the base you need to take this up with the coach, as it is entirely the lack of discipline which is supposed to be instilled by the coach that caused this. Yes, it sucks, but there is literally no emotional or intellectual argument to be made here at all to allow the runs to score when you don’t touch the one thing that makes a score count.
