As a Brit who has lived in numerous countries, and is now living in China, I can't think of a better run country than China to raise my daughter. The government here serves the people and I am an eye witness to 12 years of exceptional governance as is continually being demonstrated by China's miraculous handling of the COVID19 pandemic, poverty alleviation, and the building of world leading infrastructure. Thank you for keeping me and family safe.

It's well known in the US that politicians spend +50% of their time calling people for political donations. This has two obvious problems - 1. They are spending less then half their time governing 2. This places the politicians in the debt of their largest donors, who write the legislation that get introduced.

Approximately 80 million people did die and every one of them is because of Mad Mao's policies. It is true the US did not donate any grain to China during the worst part of the famine, unlike Australia and Canada. The reason the US did not donate any grain was because the CCP were trying to co-opt Vietnam and pressuring it to fight the US, who were in the beginning stages of their inglorious war in Vietnam. The point is though ... and you must come to terms with this fact, Mao Zedong caused all the catastrophes China endured for 30 years. The man may have united China but he also defeated the only other group (Kuomintang led by Chiang Kai-Shek) who could have averted the disastrous communist mis- management of China, which continues to this day. And before you say the CCP pulled China up from poverty, it was them who put China there in the first place ! Only when they realised communism was rubbish, did they allow a market economy, thanks to Deng. The only thing the CCP have kept from their defeat of the Kuomintang is their brutal authoritarian control. Why? so they can continue to steal from the Chinese people ! Asshole.

It's estimated 12 million natives died because of European settlers between 1492 and 1900. (USA founded in 1776) Okay how about China? 20-50 million people killed between the years 1958-1962. We don't even know how many were killed on purpose or just starved to death. FOUR YEARS. The CCP killed that many people in only 4 years. That's just the ones we know about. The fact that you can even remotely compare that to the US history is asinine.

It's all about Checks and Balances. Having some democratic element in government (such as in china's system) provides a checks and balances for a social approval of the people.
But for most politicians in China's system, the local election is just the beginning of their political career, not the means to the climax of their political career. After which they must build consensus to move up the system.
America doesn't need to use China's system of course, every country has its own circumstances. America DOES seem to need to improve its own system. And that does NOT mean going around bashing other countries.
The Chinese system is still evolving, as mentioned in this interview, the biggest topic for China is to develop an adaptable and robust check and balance against corruption. Though currently anti-corruption holds the system together, corruptions can make the system fall apart. This is China's domestic development issue and China does NOT want the likes of US or its vassal Japan to interfere - and US has interfered quite too much already it is sick.

In the main reference of democracy, Athens around 450 BC, our eternal problem of cliques was solved by randomly selecting 50 representatives of one out of the 10 municipalities that constituted the city-state (demos), for one year. No elections. Modern society copied this in the jury selection in courts and it decides even matters of life and death, not the professionals. Anybody who had something to present, had the same amount of time to do it in front of this jury of 50. In the west, if you control the media, indirectly by advertisement expenditures or directly by affording to lose money to buy their shares, you win.
Athens, a city of 100 thousand built the Acropolis in 8 years. Their interest in theoretical mathematics that had no apparent use in most cases, left us with theorems that found use 2500 years later, as a basis for cellular phone transmission and some that are still waiting. These may be two of the few records left that the Chinese will hopefully be able to break.
For sure the technique of testing people before promoting them is excellent and it seems to work in China. The question is, who judges them, independently of cliques.

The political sytem in the West is decaying at present. It is more and more obvious that not the most competent people become rulers but the most populist and rabble-rousing. Their are not longer leaders who represent the whole nation or even a majority. They usually represent a certain group of particular or even foreign interests. The mechanism of self-control of the system doesn't work any longer.
I am convinced that China's approach to leadership has some preferences if they avoid the trap of gerontogracy in which they may tap when the elect an(or some) "indispensable" persons. By time they will surround themselves with dependend boottickers and yes-sayers as we saw many exemples in Western and Eastern history. I thought that the idea to limit the time a person may stay in power that China has abandoned today was a good one. The pope claims to be unfailable but there is no such man in the world. And I am convinced that there is no man in the world as well who can keep pace with all new developments.
As a marxist I know that the criteria of truth is the praxis and that no country develops in the same way and speed. As the praxis shows China is on a good path. I hope that they will go ahead on it what will be good for their people and the world. Let's learn from each other and respect each other for our common good.

Whatever type of political governance you choose, it must be good governance to serve the people comprehensively (not just the few rich ones), it must be based on justice (law, order and fair), it must be effective (able to deliver tangible and intangible results), reliable (good track record) and transparent. As someone from CGTN just said (Zhou Yue) no political system is a done deal, it must evolve and change by trial and error meeting the needs of the people at a particular point of socio-economical development. To apply one standard method after a country is advanced and whose wealth is obtained by legitimate and aggression (i.e. colonialism, invasion) is simply not effective and frankly could be dangerous. The history and socio-cultural context is critically important too.

This Prof. Daniel Bell seems to be a honest and humble guy with a 'nerdy' like demeanor. He seems straight forward and calls a spade a spade. Of course he will be lumped by the anti-China crowd as a sycophant for the CPC for simply not conveying the negative China narrative. I like his response (when asked if the demonization by the West will continue), 'sometimes you have to forget about the West' (with the reporter giggling in the background) but concentrate on doing what is right (i.e. humane mechanism to train willing learners devoid of rigid dogmas).

    This is the point ultimately.
The West live in fear and have a need that most Chinese citizens be rather poor than not and China as a country to be weak and subservient rather than strong and confident. This suit them (the West) in their condition.
Their condition is not an ideal or healthy condition to be accommodated. Least of all by China and its wonderful people. So I'd advise that one not waste unnecessary time on their deliberate strategy of deflecting the truth and insinuate that China is doing something gravely wrong.
Sick people that deny their illness will result in us ( the healthy ones) becoming mentally unwell .... for the sick to subjectively feel ( not be) better. I hope we can soon begin to ignore them .... but they're dangerous. We need be prepared for the worst from them including...war.

In the USA the Party Boss of the two party system determines the political candidates whom the people may vote for. And the Americans happily eat whatever is place in front of their face. Consequently, the qualifications of US politicians is subpar, morality below zero, and corruption at its zenith. The people elected a mediocre movie star , Ronald Reagan, to the White House - his portrayal of a US President was according to the script written by the Elite. A peanut farmer, Jimmy Carter, whose Presidency was marked by one failure after another, naively used the Presidency as an opportunity to preach Southern Christian values. An ambitious couple of modest means from Arkansas wheeled and deal their way into the White House. In their bizarre marriage Bill Clinton combined extramarital sex with politic, Cannabis, and corruption: his sexual escapade while as Governor of Arkansas as well as President was well publicized including his DNA evidence left on the dress of Monica Lewinsky and on the floor of the Oval Office; his infamous “ I didn’t inhale “ alibi speaks volume about his special rhetorical ability; their net worth from government service has miraculously increased to 8 digit. Bush I and II were very wealthy oil businessmen from Texas but not the brightest light bulb as Presidents - both committed USA to wars in the Middle East at the behest of Elite. The Elites wanted a Black man , Obama, as President to silent the criticism that US is a racist nation. They used him as a puppet in the White House. While the Black man of America called Obama one of their own, Obama was in fact the first White President disguised as a Black man. In his 8 years in the White House, Obama dashed the dreams of Black Americans who had hoped since the days of Emancipation of arriving to “ the Promised Land.” In the casino business world Trump is esoterically known as the ruthless take-no-prison businessman - his multiple bankruptcies left a wake of financial destruction upon his lenders and creditors. Trump is the master of public relation: several trophy wives, TV show MC, celebrity appearances, owner of beauty pageants and high profile real estates. In politic Trump’s ruthlessness exploited the ‘hot button issues’ such as : the massive illegal Hispanic immigration that dilutes the voting power of the White major; US companies off-shoring manufacturing and industry to the new economic power house China; and the economic decline of the USA. In Trump’s 4 year Presidency, the primary focus of his domestic and foreign policy were his re-election to the White House - a triumphant public relation that adds to his over-sized ego. The master of delivering a well rehearsed Hollywood script , the politician Ronald Reagan asked the America people : Are you better off today ? Today, the America is in worse shape than ever: millions of homeless, jobless, and hopeless; massive national debt; an economy that oscillates from on economic bubble to another ; and the political leadership that goes from expedient ruthlessness to senility.

There three reasons why the western developed countries attack China. One is so called ideology. Two is the power generation process. Three is race discrimination.
For ideology, China failed to explain the democratic elements of its system, and the West have no interest to understand. Because western is controlled by capital, thus it is the main task to demonize the ideology, that is capitalism is good, socialism is bad.
For power generation, China again failed to explain its demonstratic elements which in fact superior than western system. Qualification requirements is one example.
The race discrimination, there is only one solution, that is China defeats America again and completely on American soil. Because it started from 1820 through opium smuggling.

In Western democracy, all passengers are allowed to drive the car and non-driving passengers are allowed to criticize the driving passengers. As can be expected, many unnecessary miles are traveled and numerous accidents encountered. Only 35% of passengers are happy with the journey.
In China's meritocracy, only expert drivers are allowed to drive. They arrived safely ahead of schedule. 90% of passengers are happy with the journey.

Finally how did you know 90% of passengers are happy with the journey? According to the recent "white paper" protest, more than 90% of the Chinese population were not happy; and many Chinese escaped to the US in 2023; and a young Chinese woman exhibited a US flag to a crowd on the street and she was arrested by police.
