1:40 VST 32 plugins can be used when bridged by a prog called jBridge. Very useful, if you want to use old plugins!
I knew all this info already.. My problem is sadly not solved..
1. I installed a VST3 in a custom folder
2. That folder is added to the scan list (just like all other plugins that he did find before..)
3. I restarted Cubase and scanned several times, but it does not find it..
What is the issue in this case?
same here for me with SSD 5.5 on Cubase AI8
Same here on an external ssd
Thank you so very much for this video! I've been struggling for weeks trying to figure out why my Cubase didn't have my plug-ins. You've saved me from pulling all my hair out. :)
I just migrated back to Cubase after almost 20 years of using Logic and this has saved my setup. Thanks!
I spend one entire week scream around the house and i give up, becouse I spend 1600$ For Kontakt13 ultimate edition and i don't can find Reaktor 6, Giutar Ring, Absynth, FM8, Battery and all of these, becous my cubase11 read only Kontakt and Massive, but another all not. So you help me much more than you know, Thank you very much,
Thanks for this. Cubase was doing my head in because it still wasnt finding a new plugin in the vst3 folder which was clearly there.
Then it occurred to me the vst must have been the 32bit version.
A quick swap with 64bit later... And this saved me from throwing the laptop through a window in frustration. Im a technophobe for a reason.... 🤣
Thanks man. J
Man, I looked everywhere! There are old forum queries about this, with no answer from the "experts". There are lots of people lost in this problem. This is the 1st place even aknowledging the problem, let alone the ez fix.! Thank you!!
wow!!! i told myself i will also come back ..... and Im back now saying thank you very much and God bless you moreeeeeeeeee.
I liked that you had a calm background track. Fits perfectly. Thanks for the tips.
One thing you probably could have added: How to create an image for a missing plugin-image, so the graphic shows in the Media tab. I'm trying to figure that out now.
If you’re using a newer version of Cubase, open the plugin or vst instrument and you’ll see a little camera icon at the top left. Click on this and it’ll take a snapshot of the current view and apply it as the image for that specific plugin / instrument
yeah fits perfect because when you get here you want to smash stuff.... listen to this guy --- nothing but excuses for all the failures
omg thank u so much! searched so many videos but only yours helped
thank you!
youre the best man !!!!
Awesome thanks so so much...I now have my vst3s in the right place and cubase 12 pro can see them. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍

Sounds absolutely amazing.. however I am unable to get it to recognize nor show up as an option to use on my recording software.. currently using Reaper and Cubase 5..Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance!
Very helpful. Thank you so much!!

I have cubase 10.5 installed and Everytime i try to make a new project it says that the stock plugins are missing hallion Sonic SE , groove agent , etc.. can you please help me 😁😁🔥
Check the Cubase library that they are actually installed. It should also tell you the installation path.
PoundSound Cubase 10.5 cpr icon lost how to fix it can u help me please
I install wave central 12.0 . But cubase 10 put at blacklist .how can i use wave.
all my izotope stuff is blacklisted thanx it was useful
Duuude... Thank you, you saved me with this one.
Thanks so much. I was having trouble finding the vst3 folder but I was missing a step to find it. I have addictive drums in Cubase 11 that’s not showing as a instrument plug-in so hopefully I can solve that issue now. It’s the dll. file that needs to be in the correct location for Cubase to find?
dll. Files can be stored in any location on your machine. You can always tell Cubase where to look for dll. files by adding the folder location in the VST plug-in manage.
However, I advice to keep dll. files stored on the OS drive (and not store them on a different drive). Just to avoid any issues if you need to do a system roll back.
@@PoundSound Thanks 🤗
@@PoundSound addictive drums shows up in Cubase vst manager but doesn’t show up when adding an instrument track.
thanks so much brother you saved my day👊
Thank you for the tips, it really helped a lot!
Thanks bro. You saved me!
Lifesaver
When adding the new path, vstplugins64 bit , rescanning does not end, it looks like cubase freezes, nothing happens..
my case is strange, I have upgraded too the vets and they are not showing ups in the software. it is all active in Steinberg manager, as well as on my profile on Steinberg. the paths seem correct. I have added again the paths manually as you explained I the video. . nothing has changed. ..still no vst!!
In the plug-in manager, just make sure you haven’t accidentally created a custom plug-in list. This can be found on the right side of the plug-in manager.
If you are using a custom list, only plugins you have dragged and dropped into to the folders will show.
This means you can build your own collection of plugins and organise them into folders the way you want view them. When choosing a plug-in on a channel insert, the plugins will be displayed accordingly.
I've went to the plugin manager and all my bags are showing up nothing is in the blacklist but for some reason their not showing up for me in the inserts I'm completely lost😫😒🙁😣
In the plugin manager, on the right, just make sure you've not accidently created a new plugin list and not put the plugins in. Otherwise they won't show up as inserts.
PoundSound now I’m seeing stuff i paid for blacklisted I own native instruments MPC etc but I’m seeing certain plugins blacklisted like komplete kontact MPC isn’t even showing up is there somewhere i can call for support 🤷🏽♂️
Hi, I tried this in Cubase 11 and put all the other vst folders in, from my c drive program files 86 vstplugins folder, it scanned and said couldn't find any more, I have Cubase 11 pro and Halcion wont show up even though it says its installed in the download assistant, and when I try and install it separately from it own .exe fil it says it is installed. Is there a problem with Cubase 11 pro, because it says its installed but hen I go to add vst instrument track it doesn't appear in the list or any where in searches in Cubase 11 pro. The websites useless, how can you sell something for £500 and not provide proper customer service its mental, any help would be great.
I've fixed it I copied the HALION.dll file into every folder called vst outside of program files Steinberg then scanned with vst plugin manager ten dragged the found HALION to the list of vst got it in the end.
Upgrading from Cubase 6.5 to pro 11a few days ago was easy. Everything was installed except Groove Agent 5 se. I scanned in all directories, nothing showed up. I immediately sent out a support ticket but it being the holidays, naturally response is slow. The knowledge base produced 0 fruit, so far. None of your suggestions worked as well. I'm thinking this could be a fire wall issue. Any ideas? Thanks
Hmmm... If you haven't done this already, uninstall GA5 Se. Then re-download it through Steinberg Hub and install it. When you downloaded the Upgrade from C6 to C11 it's possible when installing C11 (and everything with it) it's not installed GA5 Se correctly.
You could also check your firewall permissions and create some exceptions for Cubase and GA5 Se. It is possible that the firewall could cause an issue but it's something I've never personally needed to do for Cubase or any of it's bolt-ons.
@@PoundSound Firewall permissions was the first thing that came to mind, having some issues from installing Native Instruments Komplete 12 Ultimate. I got a message from Steinberg forums asking me if I dl/installed GA from the dl assistant. Yes. I went back in and tried again to dl and install. Opened C11 and there it was GA se5. I'm going to play around with this for a bit and maybe by month's end, get the GA pro version. Thanks for your suggestions. Sub and gave your video a Like.
Thanks u
Question, i manage to open amplitube on cubase, but i have no input signal and i cannot make it work. Any solutions?
I'm having issues with Cubase's built in plugins. I clicked on all the paths for the VST plugin manager to search in and I rescanned all and it still doesn't recognize any new plugins. when I load up my projects the REVerence plugin will pop up saying that it's missing the file path. I don't know what to do and I have been having this problem and I have searched all over the internet and still can't find a solution.
Tis a lot, mate! Super useful, that was.
Its work thnk
Am using cubase 5 i can't do it please help me
in cubase 9 elements is no vst manager :( bought a new computer and its only frustrating to get everything like it was before
It is so shame, that after installing Cubase always in default location, version 12 requires us to search for VST plugins.
Thank You , helped me in 100%
So helpful, saved me!!!
So basically I should be able to put all my plugins into the regular program files destination folder and I dont need any in the program x86? Random plugins just stop working, I am using waveform but it works the exact same way with its scans. Pretty frustrating, they'll work one minute then wont the next. Most recently my spitfire labs plugin 64 wont load...also noticed you have the abbey road tape machine or w/e it's called, when I use the main version of that it straight crashes the DAW. I love waveform but the lack of internet content on it is shocking.
I'm admittedly using an old version of Cubase, but my problem is that VST3 plugins show up in the list, but open with a blank GUI and are unusable. Any ideas? :(
I’ve experienced a similar problem with some GUI interfaces not showing up when opening certain plug-ins. One culprit was Bias FX 2. But that was on an older build of Cubase. But now it’s fine.
It’s hard to say if it’s a Cubase issue or if it’s a plug-in issue. I can’t really say what the cause might be.
They still arent showing up for me
I've followed instructions to the letter but still can't get Kontakt to load into the VST Plug-in Manager
Found the problem..really enjoyed your presentation.
So once you have found the missing vst plugins and instruments And all is working again...will the original instrument you picked from the vst instrument reload into a previously made track? THANKS.
Yes it will, but you'll need to restart the DAW after scanning the files. The only time it won't work is when a developer creates a completely new DLL file that does not replace the old one or uses a different file name.
An example of this happening is the upgrade from Kontakt 4 to Kontakt 5. The DLL files were different, so when loading older projects the newer version would not be loaded to replace old instruments. Which was annoying. Thankfully most developers have remedied this problem now so you never need to worry.
@@PoundSound thanks for your help. Everything worked as far as I can see. Hope you have a great day.
Once you used the disable fonction how do you re-enable a plug-in ?
My cubase is crashing each time i load a third part plugin i am trying to figure out how to fix it. When i use only Steinberg plugins it does not crash
You need to figure out which plugins are causing it to crash.
1. Create a folder on your desktop.
2. Open the VST folder location of where your 3rd Party Plugins are installed (keep the folder open)
3. Select all the .dll files and move them into the New Folder on your desktop (also keep this folder open)
4. Open Cubase > Plugin Manager > Scan Plugins (Keep Cubase Open)
5. Drag and drop .dll files (one by one) from the Desktop Folder back into the original VST folder location.
6. In Cubase Rescan the plugins
Repete this process until you find the .dll plugin that causes Cubase to Crash.
@@PoundSound Thanks i figured it all. But it was not an easy one. It was get good drum running in Kontakt 7. I fixed it in 2 parts. Using Kontak 6 first. Second my midi drum beat Library was way to big for get good drum to handle. I made the get good drum midi folder smaller. But i must say that when there is no midi files at all in the folder it loads much faster.
I have a few problems in cubase . In which I cannot find my Nexus 2.2 player and my korg triton vst suddenly became small size that even it opens it will be not visible...... plz solve my problem
I've had a similar issue with some plugins. Open your VST folder on your computer, manually move those two vsts out of the folder. Start Cubase and open the project (it'll say those plugins are missing) then close Cubase.
Move the VST plugins back into the folder then start Cubase and open the project. Should fix it.
Its a bug, email Steinberg about it. The more people that report any bugs, the better.
trying to get MRecorder to show as a plug-in on cubase but it's not showing even though i followed the file path tips, what can i try? any help guys?
I just needed to restart my pc !
Thanks for te video
Hi so the is no other way to make 32 bit VST work at Cubase 10.5 Pro as it blacklisted?
or There is anther way?.
Like i use FM7, Hypersonic 2, M1, Purity & Hyper Canvas witch is 32 bit
Off the top of my head, no. I think support for 32bit plugins ended in version 9 or 10. It's the 3rd party developers that are responsible for including VST2 64bit or VST3 builds of their plugins. If they haven't, they need to catch up.
One thing you can try (if it lets you) is select the plugin from the blacklist and see if it lets you activate it (should be a button for it, not at my desk ATM but will check) if that don't work then the only other solution would be to use a DAW that supports 32bit (like FL studio) and use Rewire to send the output from FL to Cubase to record as audio. So you program in the synths etc.. on FL and record them into Cubase as audio tracks.
@@PoundSound okay thanks man
This is a good video. However, I'm still confused. I am able to use Kontakt full version standalone with various libraries. I added a path to the Native Instruments folder. Yet, nothing is showing up in Cubase. It's a simple path of C drive --> Program Files -->Kontakt ......... and then just before I submitted this comment I figured it out. Therefore, I would like to emphasize for others it is important to locate the folder that actually say "VST" as the final path element. Thanks again.
I will try that, I have the same problem with and Native Instrument
Why is the screen low resolution on my phone?
Did all this and Kontakt still doesn't show up in Cubase.
Are you certain the Kontakt.dll file is in the VST plugin folder, or, you have pointed Cubase to the location where the Kontakt.dll file is? What version of Cubase are you use?
Cubase 10.5 finds my VST's but they are all greyed out in the Cubase program. I installed Native Instruments Komplete 13, and nothing works.
Did you install the 64bit versions of vst plugins?
@@PoundSound I just used Install All, and so everything was installed.
Ok so you need to check your install locations, if Cubase isn't looking at where the 64bit plugin versions are it won't let you use them. Sounds like it's only looking at the 32bit plugins.
@@PoundSound I set them already. It is gradually starting to work, but the right hand side is still greyed out.
I cannot get any of the amp simulators I downloaded to show up in the program files when I go to the plugin manager. They only show up as track fxs. Even when I scan for vsts, nothing shows up. I have no idea what's going on and its driving me nuts!
What amp sim are you using? Legit ones install as a VST plugin (not VST instrument) because you have to insert them onto an audio channel. ( like a EQ or compressor plugin) In order for them to work. If they're not legit, I can't help you.
@@PoundSound I did figure it out before I read this. I had to insert an audio track, then go to the side panel and click inserts and find my plugin. Now everything is working finally!
Btw, I'm using Neural Dsp (Nolly) and STL Tonality (Will Putney and Andy James).
I just purchased the Roland D50 vst. When it comes to installing it with Roland Cloud Manager on my PC (Windows 7 / Cubase 5), it's just installed automatically, by itself, in C/ProgramFiles/vstplugins/Roland/D50. I went to the plugins manager in Cubase (like your video shows) and tried to add the path where it's installed, but it's not working. The VST just doesn't appear. I CAN see the .dll file in the directory I just mentionned. But when I route Cubase to this directory with the Cubase plugin manager, it's not appearing. I could really use some help here...
In addition to what I just said : I also tried the same install on a Win10 PC, the D50 plugin doesn't appear either. And same with ProToolsLite.
It's it showing the DLL in the blacklist? Do you have the 32bit version installed? As it needs to be VST2 or VST3 64bit for Cubase to use it.
@@PoundSound No, I'm on 64bit. And the DLL appears nowhere in Cubase. This is driving me nuts.
@@PoundSound Actually, yes, it appears on the Vst2xBlacklist.xml. How can I fix this please ?
@@PoundSound The one thing I don't get is that in the blacklist xml file, there's also other plugins that are listed, although I can totally use them in Cubase... What's to understand ?
VST plugins have 3 formats. VST2 32bit, VST2 64bit and VST3. When you install any plugins you'll have the option to install 32bit or 64bit versions. Anything that's installed as 32bit versions of a plugin will not work in Cubase, Cubase only uses 64bit plugins (Cubase 9 and above) If the plugin is blacklisted it's because it's the 32bit version of the plugin which is installed on your computer. Which is what it sounds like is happening.
Just make sure the plugin developer offers the plugin in 64bit, some ( not many ) developers still don't have 64bit versions of their plugins yet.
Just to make sure, uninstall the plugin. Then reinstall it and make sure you're installing the 64bit version. If you find it's still being blacklisted or not showing up, then it might be a comparability issue with the plugin. In this case, email the plugin developer
that didnt work
10.5 is just unusable, a lot of VST"s are even not shown before and after scanning while in 9.5 no problems at all. Had to ask money back for 10.5, too late.
Are you using 64bit plugins or 32bit? 10.5 doesn't support 32bit plugins. Pretty much all devs offer 64bit VST2 and VST3 plugin options now so there's no excuse for things not to work. Sounds fishy to me.
@@PoundSound x64 for sure, no way, GUI VSTs are empty - still natives are here
I know when I did the 10.5.20 patch update it messed up my plugin GUIs which resulted in me uninstalling 10.5.20 then downloading the full version and installing from fresh. Works fine now. Could it be you've patched it and the updated failed? Have you tried a fresh install of 10.5? When you install different versions of Cubase they all get their own directory folders, so it won't override the installation directory for 9.5. Maybe you've chosen to install over the 9.5 location and somethings messed up? Can't really say I have an answer for it, somethings gone wrong somewhere though. The only other possible explanation I can think of, that could cause this (not to accuse you of anything) is that the plugins are not legit.
Why so long?
Some videos I don't tend have time to plan out and make perfect. So they are what they are 👍
Yeh but yeh but ,Mac ?
Don't have a mac, so I can't advise you I'm afraid.
Will you marry me?
This software is a mess and needs a massive overhaul ---- this is ridiculous
