    Hi thank you for this amazing video. My question is would you advise doing all my automations on the sub groups example from the snare buss or strings buss, like all the aux Keyboard’s buss

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  Год назад

      Well ... that depends 😉. It's what the song needs. If you just need changes in in the groups as a whole, sure. If I want to increase the intensity of a section of a song I might indeed just up the volume of all group tracks a bit, maybe add some extra reverb on the most important groups etc..
      But sometimes, I need something very specific on a single tracks as well, e.g. a delay throw.
      I have a separate video on how I use the techniques from this video on an actual mix: ruclips.net/video/MAkBo907jpI/видео.html

    6:14 That‘s where I had problems. I selected a range of the audio in the track and it took me a while to realize that I can‘t edit the automation that way. I have to select it in the automation lane. Would be nice though if Steinberg could change this, so I can zoom in an exactly see where my cursor is in the audio waveforms while selecting a range for automation.
    And I also didn’t found a possibility to use my fader to adjust all volume automation points together when write is off. When I want an automated track to be a certain amount louder, do ai really have to select all automation points and use the scale tool to get them up a certain amount?

    Great tutorial! I have cubase 12 pro and want to use the plugin Transit to make transitions, but having trouble figuring it out. I had no trouble with previous versions of cubase or nuendo, but, for some reason I'm not getting how to do it now. I also don't get as much time so it may be that... or maybe I'm just dumb. Thanks. Transit is Andrew Huang’s plugin right? I have seen and heard about it but haven’t checked it out myself yet. So I’m afraid I can’t be of much help there. Maybe someone else can chime in.

      @@LanewoodStudios Thanks for the help. Yes, Andrew Haung's plugin. There's been a lot of hype about it and I'm not sure what to think. I haven't bought it but got the demo, and have been messing with it. I can already do a lot with soft synth, real synths, and re-learned to do various automations in Cubase so I could utilize this plugin in different ways. I used to use automations a lot, but then got out of the habit, as my typical style of music is mostly rock-based, I use Cubase in a very rudimentary way. I'm not certain what I think of the Transit plugin for me, because I have so many I don't use, and just trying to figure out if I will use it. I bought some UAD plugins I like a lot. Manley preamp, La-3a compressor. They add character and I'll certainly be using them. I do like Transit, but it may not be one I use very often. I don't know yet. Thank you for the help with automations and all of your tutorials. I watch them and they've helped me a lot.

    This is most detailed and helpful within its own context. Unfortunately, all the examples are essentially one-dimensional at a given point in time. I had set up an EQ algorithm and was looking for a method of non-destructively changing the degree to which the algorithm is applied in real time. For most of my track, I don't need any EQ, so the presence of the preset EQ curve would be 0%: but in one short section a shrieking flute needs tamed, so application would rise to 100%. White Sea Studio shows a method of doing this ("Do you need a Dynamic EQ?") but he is using (e.g) Pro Tools, and I don't know an equivalent method in Cubase Pro. I'll keep looking. Thanks just the same.

    Hi, thanks a lot for the video !! One question: why is it only possible to compress automation data (automation event data) on either left or right corner. Especially annoying (except I'm missing out sth) if you make automation rides over a whole track and then want to scale down your ambitious finger moves alltogether. I mean, you could then compress on the left and right corner equally, but it doesn't show a value on how much you compress either?

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think you can. The curve type is determined by the parameter type that you're automating. This is what the Cubase manual says about that:
      *Ramp curves*
      _Ramp curves are created for any parameter that generates continuous multiple values, such as fader or encoder movements._
      *Step curves*
      _Step curves are created for on/off parameters, such as mute._

      It is to manage volumes of different tracks at time point of the song. Let's say you want your piano to be low in volume at 2 minutes, 30 seconds, you could create automation to lower the volume. Reason could be that your song has a lot of instruments competing for audibility at that time point.
      Not only can you manage volumes, you can manage an effect parameter like how much reverb is needed at that point.
