    Stay the course...
    Pain BEFORE pleasure...as my Marine DI said. (God rest his soul.)
    I am 54 years old...far beyond the scope of re enlistment.
    I planned to get through college and get back to the Marine Corps as an officer.
    You are doing a great job of telling the population the ins and outs of the process. Thank you for taking the torch that I and others who served with me passed.
    Enjoy your Thanksgiving and Semper Fidelis!

    I went in 1998, 10 weeks PLC combined. Couldn't hack it and got sent home after week 5. But I enlisted in the reserves and served a tour in Iraq 2003. Yes, OCS experience is something you will remember forever.

    Not sure why this vid popped up but you’re interesting to listen to. I also learned I am not cut out for the military life and would fail miserably. Thank you to everyone who’s braver and stronger than me for signing up for this life. You’re all heroes. I mean that.

    Good stuff man, “thought it would be fun”😂😂 I attended PLC Jr 1st increment 2020 India 2nd. First day was an eye opener with the Sargent instructors, but just gotta take it day by day. Can’t even tell you how many games the instructors played and circles we ran. Keep it up.

    What was your path going into OCS cause I know there’s a couple different ways. I’m most likely going through NROTC and then going through OCS but my other path is from the reserves. I’m a poolie rn and applied for the scholarship but I’m enlisted for reserves so I can go through college then PLC and stuff like that. I want to end up in active duty after college so I’m just wondering how you did it.

    • @coltenwilkerson3306
      @coltenwilkerson3306  3 года назад +6

      I made another video kind of explains the path I’m taking if you want to go watch that one as well, but basically I’m just doing PLC. I graduated highschool and started filling out my PLC packet right after. I wasn’t a poolee or anything like that, never had any intentions on joining reserves except for if I got denied on my first board I would have gone reserves to be more competitive for the next board. Thankfully I did not need to do that. I just picked a college and a major, completed my packet for PLC and did everything in between. Hope this answers your question.

      The mission of OCS is to screen and evaluate candidates to see if they have leadership potential. I’m not giving any info that would prevent that. Take it from anybody who has been, there is no such thing as preparing for OCS if you’ve never had military experience before. It doesn’t matter how much you think you know going in, you will be caught off guard. The stress will still be there, the chaos will still be there, and you still will not know what to do.
