Hey guys, finally made the video of how the Facelift Audi S3 sounds! Hope you guys like it, and as always let me in the comments below what you think!

I don't know if it was on purpose, but ending the video at the petrol station was actually the perfect ending and a good way to let people know, there's a price to pay for all that fun. For some reason I'm loving the S3 more and more.
Owen Nato Yep I was relatively low on fuel to begin with so thought I'd plan a route where I end up at a filling station, came out pretty good! And yes, as you mentioned it does have an indirect meaning, have fun but be willing to pay for it haha
Hi, I am 47 love cars, had Caterham for weekend car and Mercedes diesel for week day business car. After 8 years decided to go back to my roots.( Subaru sti, BMW M3)The S3 is a great car. I have driven Porsche, BMW, maserati, Ferrari and Caterham r500 and I can tell you the S3 is as complete car as you can get on the road. Ignore the track tests etc, safe, fast, stable and confident driving in all UK conditions is what makes a complete car. I drive all over the UK and Europe. The BMW 140/240 is a better car for exciting you but for the other 80% of your normal driving the S3 is a much superior experience, same goes for vw golf r. brilliant car but I wouldn't want to drive 20 k miles per annum it, I can in the S3. comfortable, beautiful interior, and for me something I won't get judged in for being to flash!
Hi Paul, very nice cars you've had over the years! I agree, the S3 is a very good all rounder, especially in the UK. The track tests and journalists seem to miss the point of the vehicle, they forget its a road car!
Paul mercer I agree, it has that perfect combination of elements that makes it really hard to beat for city and road driving.
People say the S3 exhaust isn't very loud stock but I think it's one of the best stock exhausts going! My GTI is quiet as hell stock! Don't know about Golf R! Love the car bro!

Can’t beat the Queensway tunnels in brum for exhaust sounds. When I was little I’d always go with my dad through there in his R32 and RS5
The steering wheel and HUD looks much better on the 2017 S3, I take it they took inspiration from the Audi R8
If you can find a safe spot, do a couple 0-60s on a flat surface and say compare 5 attempts. Be a good video for sure!

Y-w... I viewed your exhaust tips video... with my r I used never dull... didn't work out well. I want to try this stuff that you showed--in the tube. The aluminum polish I bought w a micro fixed rag really filled the bill though...

Have an S3 on order in daytona grey (on the way to the port in Germany apparently!). Same spec as yours but with the B&O speakers and SS seats. What do you think about the ride? I test drove a car with the magnetic ride and it was decent but couldn't fork out the extra $$$. You ok with not having it with the 18s... Something I'm a bit nervous about.
Watching your vids is making it harder to pass the time until mine lands!!!
+Ayan Ahmed Hi, awesome man congrats! Yeah ride is pretty good with the 18s and non magnetic, It isn't something that bothers me. I don't see the point in ticking every box, just the ones that matter to me like the tech pack advanced for example. To me the car ends up being too pricey for what it is, you might as well go to the next car up the ladder. I wouldn't worry about it mate, you'll love it 👍🏼
Was that a little snatch of power oversteer at 1:47 or did you just not wind your angle off quick enough? Love your videos man. My S3 Saloon is getting built 6th March.

Thanks pal! Yeah I might do a quick feature on it in a coming vid. Damn 5 months is very long, heard there were delays? I only had a two month wait! Currently haven't thought of tuning, stock is pretty great especially with ESP in sport. Might have a look at some tuning boxes though!
TR Hamza yeah thanks mate, was gutted after test drive when they said "yea should be here August". Chin hit the floor! It felt quick enough to be honest at that was the pre facelift. Just saw the quality of ur interior and switched me onto the S3 straight away, never thought the wife would agree to pay the extra but she's the same as u "everyone has the golf r". Great wife 😳

Love the car and your videos. I had an s3 for a year n loved it apart from the running cost I do a lot of miles n went for a3 8va tdi Quattro. Just noticed at the end of this clip you shut your car straight down. I always thought it needs to cool do you advise or is it not necessary?.
Sounds decent and downshifts are way better than I was expecting. Wish Audi would do something about the DSG fart on upshifts tho , not a fan of that

Love the sound! Downshifts pops are great! But it looks like they are a little random and don't appear every time you downshift, or am I wrong? Great Vid!
David Lugassy It's an awesome sound for a 2.0 isn't it! Yeah the downshift pops can be random in their volume but they almost always happen when the car is warm and in dynamic 👍🏼
Great video, I am hoping to get a 1.9 2009 S3 as my second car having owned a 2010 Polo, will be a nice upgrade hopefully.
Another good video mate, love what you're doing, this is what im saving up for so its cool to see all this about the car. My question is what does it sound like in the cockpit? Not sure if you have been in a fiesta st but they have quite a lot of 'fake' noise (it sounds good never the less) but is the s3 loud too when you press the smile pedal? I test drove one in december but was too much in amazement to take everything in lol
S3's have something called a 'soundaktor' and like the Focus RS and a lot of other hot hatchs nowadays, it's a engineered sound through the speakers to an extent. However it can be disabled if you have a laptop to connect through OBD.
+Joe Davidson No problem mate thank you for the kind words! Inside it does sound great, with the windows up you do get some artificial noise, it isn't blatantly fake sounding though. The car has a very nice intake sound and exhaust note so if you drop the windows it sounds the business, irrespective of the slight artificial enhancement 👍🏼
Definitely like the lovely downshift sound and that makes a huge difference comparing to the old s3, thanks for the video! Just curious, have you got the magnetic ride fitted? If you have that, would you mind to tell me how does it work on rough tarmac? I will appreciate it!

Hey bud, quick question... how do your cup holder lights stay on when you are driving? I've just been getting my s3 and at night they only come on when getting in and out of the car, same with the white light strip around the bang and olufsen sound system. As soon as I drive away they go off...? Cheers
Hey, mine always stays on at night. I believe theres a dimming switch to the right of the steering wheel maybe check the setting?

just test drove one of these. Really love the interior, but what surprised me was the performance.
I'm in a 2013 STi and even though the S3 is faster on paper, it didn't feel it. Not quite sure what was up, but I was underwhelmed.
Not slow by any means, but not as fast as I was hoping for.
+spinQubit Sense of speed is quite odd in the S3, can feel slower than it actually is. It's quite insulated and not that raw. Also in some driving modes I've found it to be a bit slow to react. With the Subaru I'm guessing it probably was quite a visceral experience?

Haha me too pal, a lot of undercover police around at night so had to keep it civil unfortunately. The launch control at around 2:35 should give you an idea of it going through the gears though.

Yeah, they are quite hard to spot in the dark as they use normal unmarked Audi's and BMW 3 series. And thanks Im glad you're enjoying my vids! Definitely go for it.

Golf r for the win
S3 is a good car of course but I cannot say to myself to buy it... I prefer to keep some money and take the RS3 for the 2.5L 5 cylindre engine sound... It is the best.

Brilliant car, great video, shame shifting sounds are through the car speakers.
+Imran Rajput Thanks, shifting sounds aren't through speakers, that's all exhaust. Induction noise is slightly enhanced when windows up. Reason you don't hear the shift sound at 2:35 is because the car was doing launch control, where it prevents the exhaust bangs. You can hear them in the fly by though 👍🏼

Alright bro. The car is minted btw. I'm asking for you're help, basically I'm car mad and my dad is current driving a BMW 5 series but is looking st new cars but he is staying with the idea of going for going with a diesel and I am constantly trying to get him to get a gold R or equivalent can you give me some arguments for the idea of getting a German hot hatch as he hasn't had a fast car in a couple of years and I'm really missing having one. +ludovic howison Thanks bro, try and get him to test drive a Golf R/S3 and it might just work on its own, especially after having a 5 series which is quite soft. Also explain to him that he can have the luxury features that a car like a 5 series has but also enjoy the performance.
