    Some have very nice skills ! I'm only wondering what you've done with the front loader ??? Those DBs were looking great with the all orange CASE front loader. The only bad thing about restoration is, at least for myself, not doing what ever I want with my old DB. Too expensive restoration to use it on a regular base. So, it's sitting in a garage every day... Even my car doesn't have that kind of treatment !

    Hey guys great restorations really liked the 1595. I have a 1494 I'm going through right now and wanting to put 16.9x24 wheels on the front have 18.4x34 on the back any tips on where to pickup new rims at a good price? Who makes you exhaust? Does anyone make new steering wheels for this 1494 that you know of? Are you running Firestone tires? keep up the incredible work!!

    • @hogslayer
      @hogslayer  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks Robert. Unfortunately 16.9-24's will require a 18.4-38 on the rear or the front to rear ratio will be wrong and cause major damage to the drive train. 13'6-24's will be the correct tire in the front for 18.4-34's. New rims are going to be tuff to find for these tractors. Really depends on the bolt pattern of the rim and they were a few different types. Is your 1494 a red or white one? Square pan rear wheels or power adjusting? As for tires, I use different brands and different machines depending on if it will be just a show tractor or actually see some work. Show tractors get cheap ones like the BKT's on the 1210 above. i went with Starrmaxx radials on the 1594s again because they where the cheapest radials I could find. I do however spend money on Firestone 23 degree radials for tractors that are running down the highway alot since. If you have a FB account you can find me on there as I have tons of pics in albums of all my restorations. Dale Frank Janda

    so..where did you find the easiest place to find parts. Looking for clutch carrier bearings and sleeves(?) etc.

  • @robertgullion2222
    @robertgullion2222 8 лет назад

    Dale, my 1494 is the red case ih and has the square pan wheels. My front 13.6's are pretty rusty and have been welded on so I will be switching wheels out no matter what just love the look of the 16.9's. The back 38s shouldn't be to hard to find I wouldn't think ? All new tires all the way around will be needed also when I got it they were junk. Do you happen to know if a steering wheel for a 1594 fits a 1494 and does anyone make a reproduction steering wheel?

    • @hogslayer
      @hogslayer  8 лет назад

      Parts are out there, you just have to know where to look! Lots of salvage yards these days.You need to try and save the front centers even if they are welded as they are hard to find and will be expensive if you are lucky enough to do so. Also FYI if you are dead set of 16.9s in front you will need a wider rim. I actually found some 15X24's off a ford tractor that had been burned that I put on my red 1594. I am not sure what model it was but its rear wheels had the same double hoop pattern which matched the centers of the front of the carraro MKII. I also know that some John deere front wheels will match the 8 lug pattern but you will need to use the JD centers and they just dont look right imo. Same goes for the maxxum front wheels. All that being said, a quick ebay search for 10x24 or 15X24 tractor rim should turn up an aftermarket replacement which will probably be the cheapest route for the front. Finding 38's for the rear will be very hard. I searched long and hard for my white 15 and ended up using the centers from a ford 4600 and then cut the hoops out of the rear rims from a maxxum. Then re-welded new hoops as seen in my vid of the resto on the white 15. If you decide to stay with 34's on the rear, those wheels should be easy to find at any salvage yard across the US. Not sure where your located but if your ever in central Texas you can swing by and Ill let you have one of my old sets cheap! As for the steering wheels, no reproductions are available but the same wheel was used on all 90-94 series case/DB tractors so plenty used ones out there.. I see them on ebay now and then also. Im assuming yours if sun-rotted? Had that issue on a few of our open cab tractors. After sanding them down and putting a couple coats of gloss black paint on them, they were almost like new. Well not quite but no more itchy hands.

    • @hogslayer

      All together not counting the labor I would guess around $6000 invested and that's including the $3000 I paid for it originally and $1200 to transport it home. Compare that to the price of a new 65hp 4wd tractor.

      +Timothy Banks, We are currently finishing up a 1394 and 1490. Next the TW-15 is waiting its turn for a fresh coat of paint and new interior. Then there are two 1412's to overhaul. All of these are for our personal use. Have not entertained the idea of working on other people tractors. What does your 1210 need? 2wd or 4wd?
