Great interview. I had an opportunity to meet Erlin when visiting Merida. I stopped at the Starbucks and there was a man who started following and harassing me. Erlin protected me. He walked me to the cab and made sure that the guy didn’t harass me. The guy continued and tried to convince Erlin that he knew me and that we were together. I was very scared. I am black American and my husband is from Africa. Visited Los Cabos about a year ago and my husband can't stop talking about how beautiful and how much he enjoyed the country. He had no interest in visiting at first but now he can't wait to go back to visit. Beautiful people and culture but can't see myself living in Mexico too hot.
If you and your husband are interested, check out Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Puebla.. These areas are beautiful and not hot. Merida is beautiful and the people are amazing, but sizzling hot-lol
Not all Mexico is hot. Oaxaca, Queretaro, Mexico city, and many more other cities have a great climate that doesn't go higher than 80 during summer time. I live in Merida right niw, but I can not deal with the heat. It's way too much my heart can handle. But, I am not moving out of Mexico. I am moving out of Merida to Queretaro or Mexico city, where the climate is very nice all year. I believe Merida is on the top list about hot places in Mexico. If you and your husband really like Mexico, do your research. There are many other cities in Mexico with great climate all year. Before moving to Mexico, I visited 14 countries in Africa. I chose Mexico for many reasons. I still love Africa. I will still go visit and probably one day live there part time, but Mexico will be my home.
Great guest . . Respect, dignity, honesty give Mexico respect and honor and you will receive the same, that´s the wise man´s philosophy. Great informative and entertaining video.
Hi Josè. One of your best informative interview . Education is best when understanding , appreciating and adjusting to another culture. What a great way to educate your children . Informativo. Transparente y muy agradable . Me encantò
Awesome to see that Mexico is attracting Artists :) So much amazing Art in Mexico and getting more diverse Art is even better!! I remember when my view of ART in Mexico consisted of A Velvet Painting of Elvis ... jaja... anyone else?? The Art that is exposed now is so incredible and diverse! Love the neighborhood!!
This video answered one of my questions about people with melanin skin, living in Mexico. It is just a "phobia" I have from being born and raised in the US. THANKS!
I went to visit and hooked up with people from the Facebook group “Black in Merida” and “black Merida“ For anyone that has concerns of being black in Mexico. I and my friend had the best experience ever and spoke directly with people that live there from the USA. Didn’t hear a complaint
Erlin seems has such a big heart! He was so accommodating and you can feel his excitement about Mérida. He has the Spanish pronunciations down pat! Beautiful neighborhood with great views! Mérida 🌳 is greener than I thought!
Wow, what a great interview with Erlin. I live in California and go to Mexico often. I love Los Cabo, San Lucas. I haven't been to Merida yet but it is on my list. I have seriously been thinking about moving to Mexico. I will be in Mexico again in about 9 days for a week, I can't wait! That tea looked good to Erlin.
Thank you both for sharing. Great perspectives and point of view. We are coming that way and are definitely flexible and open minded. He hit it on the head with it’s about mindset. Appreciate the information you all exchange. May your lives be filled with many blessings.❤
I moved to Thailand in 2001 and one of my co-workers came here 5 years ago from the States, weighing more than two hundred pounds, battling lots of health issues ate the age of 35. Now he weighs 130 pounds and all of his health issues have disappeared. Just because he eats real food here.
Great video Jose! This information is very helpful. How often do you see tarantulas in your house/yard? Have you ever woken up with a tarantula on your face? Maybe a video on spiders in Mexico would get a lot of views! This could potentially be a deal breaker for me 😂

Dude, I REALLY LIKE your channel, especially your minimal but perfectly timed edits. I laugh so much. My mom lives in Merida, I'll be there on Saturday for a few days. I hope to meet you at some point. I'm a dual citizen, US/MX.
I'm a disabled 100% VA-rated military retired MSGT. With my retired pay ($1800), my SS ($875), and my 100% VA-rated pay ($5000) monthly, I don't need to worry about an income. With today's exchange rate that is close to 131920.28 Mexican Pesos. If things go bad in the Philippines because of China going after Taiwan, I'll run to Mexico! The only problem I expect is to sell my home and ship my cars and household goods. This brings up the question of the RAM I've seen you driving, did you pay any import tax to the Mexican customs or did you buy it in Mexico?
@@JoseArteagaTravels Imports are indeed a major hassle, but it beats buying new cars when mine are already paid for and I've made sure to keep them in top condition. I could sell them at almost the same price I paid when they were new. I don't believe there are none of these in the Americas! A Toyota Fortuner SUV, 4-wheel drive, and a Hyundai Starex van. Both have automatic transmission and 4-cylinder diesel engines.
Really enjoyed the interview and an artist view from a local artist. I love the art work behind you! Perfecto.😎. I am also wanting to know more about the sip tea😮
Yes....the real estate buble in Merida as in other cities as well has started to pop.... I am actually waiting prices come down enough to invest over there....

Is the treatment different because they know you have money and will spend if you like the treatment. His art is beautiful and I am so happy he has found a good place for his family.
I see the price of lots go up after this video, because he said, " they ONLY ask for 70k". This is lot of money for the Mexican market. Most Mexican here cannot afford that. This is why houses and lands keep going up in Merida, because of Expats making comments like this. Thry use the work cm" cheap" here. Right now, Merida has become one of the most expensive cities in Mexico
Again if you watch my videos you will see that most of the people buying and moving to Merida are other Mexicans. Also if you watch my videos and know the actual market you will quickly see there are still many homes and land priced below costs. There are many variables at play here and the reality is that if you are afraid of prices continuing to go up then just plan accordingly and you will be fine.
Thank you so much for this I just lost my van and last year lost my RV. So many losses and really no gains. Going in a big ass circle..im on every housing waiting list since the pandemic ...I'm tired of getting hopeful 😢 only to loose or see no progression. Loosing my van has been bitter sweet ..as I have been watching your videos for the last 2 months ..When you said if I was in the states I'd be a bum sleeping in my car ...I giggled and relate ..and as a woman safety is a real concern ...as I been doing van life aka digital nomad ..Jose I have sOOO many questions and I'm so tempted to hop on a grayhound with just a little over 300 yet I don't even have my passport.can you help me leave California and get to paradise 😂 ...no but seriously. . I'm trying to be not so impulsive but what's a girl to do ..and going to skid row out in LA is an absolute No for me ! The " "help " out here is nothing more than an illusion. And as a independent woman who works for myself all I need is affordable living ...I am bilingual. Do no issues there. Got the gift of Gab ..I believe I'd do quiet well in Mexico ...love the food .love the culture ...I even flip my tortillas on the stove 😂😂😂 lol I have to get there ASAP! I'm praying that God will help me find my way to meet you and the Mrs ❤ im trying to stay optimistic watching your videos really help and I do want to buy a consultation with you but I'm trying to save for my ticket ..lol bruhhh lol . But on a serious note this whole interview is helping me ..today I'll visit the post office to ask about passport .
My advice to you since you are in Southern California and only have a few bucks to your name is to go to San Diego and get a job there and then find housing in Tijuana and basically travel back and fourth everyday. Many people do this and have been doing this for years/decades. You can even cross legally back and fourth with just some basic ID until you get your passport. That would be my advice to you after learning so much while living out here in Mexico. You can find affordable housing in Tijuana and Make US Dollars in San Diego and that should help you get back on your feet in no time. You can use the land bridge to walk back and fourth in case you do not have a vehicle. Don't lose hope. It's not going to be easy. It wasn't for me either, but you can do it and get yourself out of the hole you are in and once you have your passport and some money saved up you can go and explore other parts of Mexico. Hope this information helps. Good luck with everything! You can do it!
@@JoseArteagaTravelsthank you so much Jose!🎉 I was in San Diego with my RV last year ..so I'm familiar with the area ..I had actually network with a few folks who worked in San Diego and yet had property in Mexico , in fact I met a women in the 99 c store if San Diego who her and hubby has just bout a house and was working on renting out rooms if I could only find her number ..bruh ....😂😭 ..any who always help me feel better your Sense of humor ..I like that you can laugh at yourself if no one else in the room is laughing! That's how life should be ..I know there are others who do what you do right here at the YT but no one makes feel like the possibilities are endless the whole knowing you can go to somewhere else and not just feel but be a millionaire in another country is always so inspiring ..after all what's a millionaire any way ... ?? Some one who basically can #1 afford a quality life ! With a little bit of gllitz and glam if they so chose ! Not every millionaire is all shiny and show offy but I had been around a few enough to know they ALL have one thing in common thier quality of life live in a safer area , access to medical , dentistry , schools and education, even better access to a potential good partnerc and over all good mental spiritual and physical well being..... Lord knows I want THAT ! So I ain't gave up just yet ! Yes I get sad , angry , and ask GOD why sometimes . But today I'll trust that all things are working out in my favor....and since it was back history month 😅 I'll leave with this quote .., Sometimes you dint have to see the whole staircase to know exactly what's ahead just take one step at a time and you'll eventually reach destiny" -Dr. Martin Luther King 🤎🖤🤍
Jose Tremendo Video Broder. That Sip Tea & Honey Wine sounds Really Good. I was wondering what the rents for 1 to 2 bedrooms apartments go for in this area were you made this video ? I wacth you live with Jose yesterday 👍🏻 and the reason I was asking about the Mexican $$ pesos to bring in, it’s CHEAPER TO GET IT AT MY BANK HERE, I just didn’t know how much legally at customs in Mexico that they allow. Cuidate Broder. Andres
What's the recipe for SIP TEA. Thanks for the tour. If you make $4,000-$4,500 a month. You will live better in Merida than in the USA. I currently live in Pennsylvania. Take care
Great question! I am pretty sure he answers it in the video and gives the recipe. You can also reach out to him directly and ask him. All his contact info is in the description of the video! Great stuff btw it really did help!
Hi I am an artist with dual citizenships. (Mexican and American). Actually in Merida, looking for job opportunities, but my concern is about taxes. Working by yourself how do you do your taxes to irs.........? Thanks
Hola José muy buen video Me gusto mucho ese fraccionamiento y tengo un amigo interesado en el terreno que mostraste al principio del video Me podrias ayudar con la direccion del terreno?
I like the newer homes and building over there. I also like how green it is in Mexico ♥ . I'm on disability benefit I have about $500 after i pay my rent in LA. Do you recommend taking a Uber at the border by the San Diego to get to Merida if I want to visit? What can I do with my budget? I probably visit for few days since I have a limited budget
Merida is way too hot for me. I can not spend l day inside in A/C. I like to walk around during the day. So many other cities of Mexico have a better climate. Oaxaca, Queretaro, and more. I am moving out next month. I can not do it anymore.
Merida is not for everyone! I think many popular areas of Mexico are too Cold for my liking. We all have a preference. Me and Erlin love the tropical heat and everything that comes with it as do many others. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you on your adventures elsewhere.
Does Mexico have its own version of tech/silicon valley too? I'm asking about the positive aspect, neither gentrification nor widening wealth gap, etc. (Hope this doesn't happen or only to a minimal degree in Mexico!)
I have been to MERIDA many moons ago and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. I was sent there by the company (FALCO ELECTRONICS) I worked for back then. The people were very nice and accommodating. I am from India and my wife is from Cuba and with me learning and speaking 6 languages (Spanish and Haitian Patoi included) I was able to navigate the day to to day activities all by myself. I still live in Florida but never took the opportunity to move to Merida when my boss asked us to move there lock-stock-and-barrel. My kids were too little and were in different grades levels and I did not want to disrupt their education. But MERIDA is a very safe town and I was told that back then they left their doors unlocked.
@@JoseArteagaTravels aw, thank you for responding. I am specifically looking at Montessori Lancaster and any other Mintessori schools. Any info on schools us greatly appreciated.
Good video your friend seems like a good laid back guy. However always remember not to bring that US colonial attitude called the ugly american that I see now and then in asia, because the police are not like in the states. I saw an american get beaten up and dragged out of a bar lik a dog in thailand by the police. I wanted to assist being an American myself, but the thais held me back and told me the police would give me the same treatment. This also applies in mexico. Be respectful of the people and culture like you guys are doing and you will live well and safe. I know you understand Jose, because you speak the language and understand the culture, that's one reason I enjoy your videos that are honest, helpful and educational. I"m just adding my experiences of my travels to support your videos. Felicidad y buen salud.
I totally agree. As the saying goes.... F around and find out 😅 It always makes me happy to see Justice being served to entitled Americans who think they can do whatever they want in Foreign Countries. Thanks for sharing!
Maid/cleaning services are extremely affordable in Mexico. But like he said in the video the house was a mess because they just got back from a recent trip. The house was actually pretty clean for a home with 3 young boys and dogs 😅
@@JoseArteagaTravels I know, I was just messing with him. Love your videos, very informative. Planing on retiring and going back to Mexico in a few years (both wife and I original from Puebla). Merida looks nice but to hot for us. Our state has a much cooler climate but who knows. Keep the good work there!
I hear what you were both saying saying about American men looking for a "good" wife overseas but what about us single women looking for a "good" husband as well? 😂
You can also find what you are looking for here in Mexico. I've actually made videos about it going more in depth. But yeah its not just for men its also for women. I know plenty of single ladies who stopped being single soon after moving to Mexico 😅
I’ve never heard that Mexican schools are better?! I’ve always read differently. That’s not true at all. However, I’m sure some inner city schools could be equivalent to another shitty school system.
Again it all depends on what you the parent want your child to be taught. In my opinion the schools in Mexico are much better as they promote critical thinking instead of only indoctrination into the system
Ok so why would the pandemic make people move to Mexico?? The pandemic was the entire world!People were trying to get back to their countries because boarders were closing. People are now fleeing uS is because the fear of Trump getting re-elected and you should be scared. I’m scared and why I’m looking and because uS is too expensive.

But today I'll trust that all things are working out in my favor....and since it was back history month 😅 I'll leave with this quote ..,
Sometimes you dint have to see the whole staircase to know exactly what's ahead just take one step at a time and you'll eventually reach destiny"

Andres
Muchas Gracias! You can find out more about rentals in this video ruclips.net/video/hSaGVFFIruE/видео.html
Nice ill be in Merida on the 10th of this month
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Were still going to find a way to knock on your door. You can't hide 😂😁👍 Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for sharing! 👀
He should add “Sip Tea” on Google Maps along with available hours.
Awesome! Great idea!
Cool artist+the te
Yes he really is amazing!
Hi I am an artist with dual citizenships. (Mexican and American). Actually in Merida, looking for job opportunities, but my concern is about taxes. Working by yourself how do you do your taxes to irs.........? Thanks
Great question! You basically do your taxes as usual. Nothing really changes. I would consult with a profesional for more information
We are JW’s but enjoy your channel very much!! Thank you Jose! From Houston
@@JoseArteagaTravels gracias por la respuesta José
Welcome to state of Yucatán I am angel Lara 😊❤ Greetings
Muchas Gracias!
I recommend you do whatever works best for you
Ok so the lots are around $73,000 how much would it cost you approx to build a 3 bedroom 2 bath home.
Great question! You can watch this video for more info ruclips.net/video/p7YHeMYT0O4/видео.html
You should visit La Isla The Mall of Merida 😊
I have been there its great!
@@JoseArteagaTravels Have you also visited the malls plaza Altabrisa, gran plaza and galerías Mérida?
OMG Austin where did you get that Doberman?
Such a beautiful dog and so well trained!
@@JoseArteagaTravels Thanks
IT IS A GREAT HOME FOR THE PRICE
I totally agree!
Does Mexico have its own version of tech/silicon valley too? I'm asking about the positive aspect, neither gentrification nor widening wealth gap, etc. (Hope this doesn't happen or only to a minimal degree in Mexico!)
Yes it does! There are several spots throughout the country with Guadalajara being one of the main hubs
What is that tea made of?
Great question! Not sure, I know its mostly organic ingredients. Best to just contact him directly for more information!
That is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Where can we get there the sip tea?!
All the info is in the description of the video
Where can we buy sip tea in merida?
You can find all of his contact info in the description of this video
Hi jose what up brother 😊
Chillin chillin
I was wondering how he makes a living in Mexico.
Now you know!
Do a video about schools please.
ok! Sounds good!
Nice informative video.
A maid service instead of the laundry service would be highly recommended 😁
Maid/cleaning services are extremely affordable in Mexico. But like he said in the video the house was a mess because they just got back from a recent trip. The house was actually pretty clean for a home with 3 young boys and dogs 😅
@@JoseArteagaTravels I know, I was just messing with him. Love your videos, very informative.
Planing on retiring and going back to Mexico in a few years (both wife and I original from Puebla). Merida looks nice but to hot for us. Our state has a much cooler climate but who knows. Keep the good work there!
I’m live on Los Angelica ca. But. Is too much trash everywhere
Thanks for sharing!
No issues with security but I’m getting a big ass guard dog a dobbie. 🤔
Dogs are a major part of life out here in Mexico. My life has only gotten better with Gizmo around. Animals are the best.
Si él se siente mexicano es mexicano aunque todavía no tenga los papeles. 🙂
Asi es! Viva Mexico!
Did he pick up the dog poop??
Yes of course. He's not me 😅
Me gustan los tacos mucho
Que bueno!
If the wife is mexican the kids have dual citizenship. It is a very easy process. 😉
I totally agree! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVED your Jehovah Witness remark...LMAO....
😅
Can gizmo bark at check points? 😂
He barks at everything so yes lol
I’ve never heard that Mexican schools are better?! I’ve always read differently. That’s not true at all. However, I’m sure some inner city schools could be equivalent to another shitty school system.
Again it all depends on what you the parent want your child to be taught. In my opinion the schools in Mexico are much better as they promote critical thinking instead of only indoctrination into the system
Erlin, I can’t fin me your RUclips channel… help.

There was more Freedom in Mexico thats why many people are flocking to Mexico these days
