I regard this game as the true beginning of Dallas’ rise to early-mid 90’s dominance. Only an injury to Troy Aikman derailed us and by dropping our last 2 we missed the postseason. …But just a well for us as we got a little better drafting position snd were not yet good enough or ready to go very far had we gotten to the postseason. Still, the overall strong finish made it clear 3-13 and 1-15 nonsense was in the rear view mirror and we were heads up.
Very important game. Dallas won then beat Washington 4 days later. If you look at Dallas’ record the 5 years before this game and their record the 5 years after this game you see a huge turnaround
This the game that started that 4 game winning streak. The Cowboys would build on that and get better while the Rams just got worse. They really did fall off a cliff after the 89 NFC Championship game. It's amazing how they were competing for a Super Bowl in 89 to just being bad in 90 and over the next 10 years. It wasn't until 1999 when Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, and Torry Holt came along the Rama became winners finally.
Yea he was one of my favs, I don't think you can put it all on him though I think the team as a whole declined after the 89 season, maybe that drubbing they took in the championship game to the niners had an effect
The Cowboys that year finished 7-9 and were still able to make the playoffs (first year there were 6 seeds per conference). They needed the Rams to beat Nawrlins on MNF Week 17, but it didn't happen. So the 8-8 Saints got in.

Jimmy Johnson's W-L record was 4-22 coming into this game. The Cowboys would win this game & go 32-11 from here until their victory in SB 27.

But they beat Dallas in Dallas in 92 even though Cowboys won the super bowl that year.
Stunning how Jim Everett went into decline so fast. I think it was mental.
