I am so touched that she wants to protect the "Potter" experience for her young fans. She doesn't have to do that, really, but she values the magic in childhood. That's so so pure of her
So surreal that she, herself, is like a continuing extension of what I would've imagined the older version of Luna Lovegood to be: - Writes a book about mental health awareness. - Has a father who reviews the book for her. - Wants to maintain the childhood experience for children, while seperately sharing her adult experience to other adults. She says she didn't expect to be asked on the show because it's for "naturally funny people". Having watched the interview I can tell her that that it is what she definitely is. A delightful young lady.
Evanna Lynch spoke at my local university during an event that aimed to increase the self-esteem of girls in high school. It was really crazy because I was 14 at the time, I loved Harry Potter and Luna had always been my favourite character. We also didn't know she was going to be there! She arrived out of nowhere and I was sitting only four rows away from her. She was very nice, and seemed a bit nervous, but I distinctly remember her using the phrase "you don't have to, like, pull a sword out of your vagina", after which she immediately face palmed because we were literal children. The overall message was that women have worth regardless of what we do or how we look. She was very inspirational and sweet!
Evanna: "I'm very careful to maintain a family friendly image to not traumatize HP fans" Daniel Radcliffe: "SHE'LL BE DRIVING SIX WHITE HORSES WHEN SHE CoOoMES"
I think what's great about a lot of the Harry Potter alumni kids is that they have really grown up with a purpose. The women are strong women and still present a good public face.
Her book reminds me of the quote from Dickens' Great Expectations: Miss Havisham (to Pip, of a butterfly collection): "Look closer, if you wish... My brother's collection. He went to the furthest reaches of the Earth in his quest for the purest specimen of beauty. And when he found it, he stuck a pin through its heart... He's dead now. Cholera. In the tropics. Struck down in his relentless pursuit of beauty. Perhaps it was beauty's revenge, to stop his heart, when he had stopped so many others."
Yes, thanks for that apt quote! I think it sounds like a metaphor Miss Haversham herself. She tried to stick herself in that moment in time, in her wedding dress, with her heart frozen.
Also The Collector by John Fowles has a similar view on destroying something to retain it's "Perfection" and is based on the metaphor of Butterfly collecting.
I loved the innocence Evanna bought to the Luna Lovegood character. It's great that she also continues to speak about Harry Potter fans in a positive way and ensures she is always open to speaking to them still.
I wonder how many years of therapy it took her to get to this level of self-awareness - and kudos to her for getting there, I wish I had that kind of dedication to self-improvement!

It does come, you’ve just to dig extra deep to find it, and you’ve got to eventually trust you heart and not your head. It’s also, as quite rightly mentioned, those around you. Negative people who winge about others, have no soul and make your like miserable, drop them quickly. Daily, gentle exercise (if vigorous is too much for you), deep breathing in and out whilst exercising to replenish the oxygen deep into your lungs (again if you can), a healthy diet and surrounding yourself with good, reliable, kind people is also a must to get on track to a better mental health. It’s great to hear about good, when around us there seems to be a focus on bad. I don’t watch disturbing films, or RUclips that upsets me, never put myself into places I don’t feel safe and I enjoy nature everyday and am grateful for everything I have. Life is about quality, not quantity. Take care and love yourself first.
She is such a wonderful person! The trauma she's been through shows in her vulnerability. But her light also shines so bright now! Such an amazing and inspiring young woman
JK has said that out of all the actors she was the only one that influenced how she wrote the character and later books. And when she wrote Luna she heard it In her voice and didn’t with any of the other characters or actors. She is lovely 😊
I love how the women of Harry Potter grew up to be such influential people. Emma Watson is known for her Feminism, she's an activist, she promotes awareness on social issues. Evanna Lynch is an author of a book about mental health, part of UNICEF. Bonnie Wright is also an author and an activist, and Katie Leung also known for being feminist, LGBTQ+ supporter, and cares about the Black Lives Matter movement
Evanna: “How would you like me to play Luna?” Director: “Just be yourself…” Thank you! Thank you for being yourself! I love Luna’s character and you have such a lovely, natural personality!
She's so brilliant. This really resonated with me, I always say that no bully has ever said anything to me that's worse than what I've said to myself. That's no way to live. Really, I need to accept that what they are saying is not okay, address it and tell them they are in the wrong for being hurtful and for me to stand up for myself.
I haven’t watched or listened to an interview with her before and just have to say this was fantastic! Having had an ED myself, they had my full attention early on as she touched on it; but the whole way through this was just a great interview to experience. 😊
Oh my gawd, this honestly made my day. She is ... all over the place, and it's just ... fucking wonderful.
