I tried my absolute hardest to like this spin off sort of series of the original Captain Harlock, but man I couldn't do it. It never was as good as the original, but atleast the op was jamming.
I just finished this series and I just started watching the original. This was enjoyable, but it really felt thrown together especially the ending. Overall a good watch with some interesting characters, nice themes, and a killer opening, but unfortunately it didn’t stick the landing. From what I’ve heard it was due to the station or production company cutting the show. Space Battleship Yamato had similar issues, but was able to deliver much better than this series.

We so need a remake of the entire series of such a Ines together with all movies too, and I'm not saying make better lines keep the old ones if they fit perfect but I just want the damn quality to not be degraded
It’s on quite a few streaming platforms believe it or not. Arcadia of My Youth and SSX are on Peacock and Crunchy Roll. The OG Captain Harlock is on Crunchy Roll and (maybe) Tubi. Arcadia of My Youth is also on Tubi. It’s kinda strange considering the OG Space Battleship Yamato series is nearly impossible to find. (I believe the biggest reason it is difficult to find is because of all the legal battles surrounding the series.) Maybe that will change with the recent death of Matsumoto and the 50th anniversary coming up. It would be a tragedy if one of the most influential anime ever made never gets a proper international release.

The design of the Arcadia for SSX/Arcadia of my Youth is a much better design then the original in my opinion. The green is such a good color

Similar to what they did with Star Blazers having a 2199 and 2202 plus the movie 2205.
