They can play fun if their moves look cool on screen....It is not just their play style. A lot of players pick characters cause their moves &/or combos look dope.

There was too much gameplay bias here, this was supposed to be how the characters looked graphically and animation-wise.
I assume you're talking about Justin? He groaned everytime a grappler was put up high which has nothing to do with visuals

I'm horrible with Blanka but I think he's my favorite looking character, he's a green monster. They put a lot more work into some of the other characters and it shows, but they aren't Blanka Chan.

I think its the silliness of some of his moves and personality clashing with seriousness of his looks.

the hottest take for me had to be Karin. I thought SFV captured her personality so well.
I did not like akuma's hair on release. But i've been playing him for so long that now it kinda grew on me. I honestly like his actual design today, to the point where I dont pick nostalgia costume.

I like how max stated multiple times this is solely based on looks and animation yet Justin is still disagreeing based on how the characters play.....I don't think he understands the tier list
Sakura's SFV redesign should have gone in Great. It's finally something that's more grown up and not the same freshman high-schooler uniform that she's had in every game from 1996 to 2018.
Honestly SFV Sakura is the best one for me and it also reaffirmed on why she’s my favorite Street Fighter character.

Yea but the animation felt weaker. Same thing with COdy. But animation aside, sakura and cody are really REALLY good.
Also I love how I also imagine Sakura being a stewardess because of her university uniform, which I will not be shocked if she actually turns out to be one.
One thing about Sakura that has been bothering me for a minute is that she looks like a giant scale wise when standing next to Juri. Cammy, and nearly as big as Ryu.

Justin completely misunderstood the point of this tier list lol he kept getting hung up on the playstyle instead of the look of the characters alone
9:10 - you had me lol, I was like "wtf it's over?!"
They surely went "I don't care anymore, put all the designers on this one" on Menat. It's a very cool different and attractive style(draws your eyes easily), and different than the usual stuff. Body proportions are unmatched, nothing "too much" and they didn't miss one chance to make her stand out positively imo. Zeku is a also a work of art.
Stop every time he names a character, pausing and talking about that character's gameplay. Stop it. It doesn't matter if they're "fun" because that's not the topic.

My biggest peve in fighting games is attack animations. There are so many moves that if someone hit you with them irl, they wouldn’t hurt at all.

Reminds me of back in college when I and my friends were talking about great superhero costumes and this one guy in our group kept on harping about character power levels. We told him to shut up if he's not contributing to the conversation.

You lost sight of the fact that this was a purely aesthetic tier list almost immediately. You started weighing gameplay aspects and letting those affect almost all of your opinions.

I can't be the only one who is peeved by the fact that Nash is supposed to be the creator and master of the fighting style he and Guile uses but it took Capcom to bring him back from the dead to actually showcase that in his playstyle (fixing the ludonarrative dissonance) by turning him into psuedo-shoto Guile.
8:35 I agree with Max about Alex. His animations look really good (ex bomb anyone?), but his design is terrible. His backwards-facing legs and those weird side bang things..... oh boy. I personally LOVE Cody's redesign, and his animations are sick!!!
I’m always confused on how Japanese companies in the 90’s could crank out the sprite animation DURING ONE OF THE BIGGEST RECESSIONS the country has ever seen, but these days it’s always just ahhh too expensive too expensive.

Aww Max's video left out where Kenny called him just to fuss about the Laura score. That was one of the best parts of the whole stream.
My final verdict of SF5 season 5:
V shift made the game enjoyable. I still don't like how practice alone doesn't guarantee victory. Reads and reactions and are part of the meta and as someone who always has systematic approaches, I can't help but feel as though hard work and time spent is not rewarded. I attribute it to my being a musician: We look for "how this instrument works" and "What am I supposed to do in order to get predictable results every time?" "What guarantees success without guess work?" and then when we figure it out, we spend hundreds and thousands of hours honing it. When I pick up my sticks to play, I know exactly how I'm going to manipulate them on the drum head to get the sounds that I want, and I know what kind of stick and drums will give me the desired results every time.
This approach doesn't work with SF5. So even though I enjoy it MUCH more, the ovedrall design of the game still will not fit what I look for in a fighting game. SF4 catered to that preference, which is why I enjoy it more.
BUT. I cannot and will no longer call SF5 a BAD game. It gave me the one thing I ever wanted: A universal defensive mechanic. I can deal with 8 frames of lag, bad netcode, iffy visuals, etc. The lack of defense was what made the game deplorable to me and adding one makes me enjoy picking up the game and playing online. It also makes me enjoy figuring out ways that I can counter people's offense, which is always what I enjoy doing in any game that I pick up. Thank you, Capcom.

Honestly, if you don’t look at his face or little people proportions, he’d be in the running for the best Ken. I like the outfit with the dry-fit shirt with matching gloves and ankle guards, and how he lets the gi hang off of him. Fighting style His interpretation of the shoto-style is the best variant of Ryu’s OG style imo. If they bring it back in 6, then I petition that at the end of his EX tatsu, he has the overhead kick like he does in the vs series…. Maybe add the air fireball too 🤷🏽♂️

I absolutely love SF5's art style and anesthetics. They're all striking and imposing along with reminding me of those bulky action figures I played with as a kid.
Fang is like a villian out of a Kung fu movie which is cool. And he can do that flying thing. Fang is one of the cooler characters in the game. I don't play him but he looks cool.
I agree. Wasn't a fan when he was first revealed, thought it looked as ugly as a One Piece character, but the more I look at him, the more I appreciate his presence in the roster.
I would put him in the Good category to be honest, his design is well done.

Would kage having Dan street fighter 4 moves it makes sense. Dan has studied and based most of his fighting style through the assassination fist ( the same style kage is using ) . It even shows Dan in a way is using the assassination fist to its full potential ( it's just that is he is bad at it ) that it matches a demon . Dan can do the raging demon ( he did in the comics . But he tripped over something when facing sakura . Well he activated ) and in crossovers games ( another form of a demon that he created ) which called the otoco michi I think

I was there live and disagree with Gief hate, he might actually be the most impressive overall to be honest visually, such a high quality model and it animates well, sweat pops off his body as he flexes with steam flourishes. Not E.Handa good but hes solid

Necalli not having a full personality and just being an insane devourer really tanked his cool factor to me over time.

I agree with max on alex. The legs are weird, its not the same stance as third strike. I think the angle of the legs are a little bit more towards the back than 3rd strike

3rd Strike Ken is best Ken for sure, but that could be said about every character that's in 3rd Strike. If a character appeared in 3rd Strike, that is the best version of them.
