I used to live at 21 Alma Grove btw 1975-1979 and remember watching this TV show when it was first aired. I have fond memories of the area and surrounding streets and the part about the ghostly goings on really resonate as our house was next to 2 houses that had been bombed during WW2 and there was definately something other worldly in that (our) house.
It wasn't unusual to see a doctor in the early hours of the morning returning from a house visit, still in pyjamas & dressing gown with the stethoscope around his neck. Bermondsey had a plethora of superb GP's😂
I was a Bermondsey Boy worked in the old Bermondsey Baths. Had the largest unsupported roof, at one time. Teak, brass, white marble slipper baths, and Italian purple Marble was used in the building of the baths. Great laundry around the back clothes were so clean a great place a real centre of the community. What happened to all those materials when the baths were pulled down ? Used to go to the blue. Great Bakers opposite Bermondsey Town Hall. Spar road Park. The Biscuit factory, Jimbo,Tina, Jim, Carol, Lil, Jack Small, Jock, little Elaine, Ken, Great Councillors, Great local dignitaries. Knew the wealth and value of the local community, not like the obscenely priced houses owned by the Bankers and Obliarcs in Notting hill. what are you all doing now. Great good real people salt of the earth. Great Progamme.
Shame how things have changed. No community anymore as everyone is from so many different places and cultures. They don’t seem to blend, despite what we’re told..
I left Bermondsey to start nurse training & loved every minute of it. I'd love to see Bermondsey again.
We mustn't forget Dr. & Mrs Salter. We have to thank them for the trees.

I remember watching the destruction of St Lukes Church in Grange Road. Utter destruction.
I had my polio jab at the solarium
We should also remember Dr. Conan @ the Bermondsey medical mission, along with Dr Morton & Jenkins
St. Annes Thorburn Square
