I've never seen a song bring out such deep emotions and joy in both men to a lesser extent and for sure to most women. I was senior in High School when this song first came out. My best girl and I used to close dance to this song every Friday night at the hop after the high school football game. I played on the football team and was stiff and sore, but it was so beautiful and breath taking we both cried every time. It was "our song". She had a cute little pony tail, long bobby socks, and pleated white skirt, and she wore my letterman sweater. I was so proud of how good she looked inside my letterman's sweater. She was the prettiest girl in the world. We went to different colleges. Time and distance ended our romance. 25 years later my daughter and I danced to that song at her wedding, and she wore the same letterman sweater, white bobby socks, a pleated skirt, and a pony tail. For some reason everyone cried. It is such a beautiful song. I am so happy the younger generation has discovered it.
