SRI THYAGARAJAR, a melodious musical tribute to the Greatest Saint Composer from one of the most popular Tamil Theatre Troupes UNITED VISUALS, captained by well known theatre & Television personality,
‘TV’ VARADHARAJEN, has crossed HUNDRED SHOWS, in a very short record time of 22 months. Written by well known journalist Shri VSV who has a four decade experience in the print media as a writer and critic, and melodious music composed by renowned Carnatic Musician and Oscar Award Nominee Smt. Bombay Jayashree, this play is creating sensation and receiving standing ovation from full house audience in all the places staged.
SRI THYAGARAJAR, a unique kind of musical drama on the life history of SRI THYAGARAJA SWAMIGAL tells the story of the greatest Saint Composer Singer who was put through the test of life but undeterred, continued his mission and emerged as creative genius. It depicts the resolve of the man who refuses to be lured by the wealth and position of the court poet, struggles to get his daughter married and is driven out of the house by his brother and mourns his wife but never loses love & belief in God.
SRI THYAGARAJAR is not just an aural and visual treat, but touches the heart too.
TV VARADHARAJEN HAS transformed himself into the Saint by his scintillating performance and the team has won lot of acclodes. This play not only draws repeat audience, but also repeat shows from various organization.
BOMBAY JAYASHRI has aptly chosen the Saint’s kritis befitting the situations on the stage. She and other singers such as O.S.Thyagarajan, Sherthalai Ranganatha Sarma, O.S.Arun, Kunnakudi Balamuralikrishna must be given due credit for their soul-stirring renditions.
Well known Cartoonist, SHRI KESHAV, has created exclusively caricatures on the life of Sri Thyagarajar which is used in video presentation in the play. The title song in Tamil is penned by well known Lyrics Writer Kavingar Dr. Piraisoodan.
Within a very short time, , this play has crossed 50 shows and has already been staged twice in Mumbai and also in Hyderabad, Delhi, Madurai , Coimbatore, Thrissur, Tirupathi, Bangalore, Kolkatta, Jamshedpur etc. in addition to shows in all parts of Chennai and in Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Thanjavur in Tamilnadu.
While SRI THYAGARAJAR was staged in Dubai and Abudhabi, Drama had a successful two months twelve shows tour of USA and won hearts and appreciation from one and all.We have staged this play in Muscat, Singapore and in the beginning of 2020 three shows in Australia.
This play was witnessed and Blessed by sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Sri Vijayendra saraswathi Swamigal, Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamigal of Mysuru Dutta Peetam, Sri Sri Maharanyam Muralidhara Swamigal, Sri Edugiri Ethiraja Mutt Jeer, Sri Kambavarithi Ilangai Jeyaraj.
Many personalities from all walks of life including music, drama and dance have witnessed the play and have said it has to be taken intesrnationally for a wider audience and to the next generation.
TV Varadharajen is emotional to say that the wonderful special darshan entire troupe had at Tirumalai. What a thing to compare with the darshan Sri swamigal had at Tirupathi - which led to the keerthana ‘therai thee’.. After staging their drama at Tirupathi, troupe was extended was special darshan at Tirumalai. In the case of Swamigal, when he sang the song, the curtain automatically opened for a special darshan to Him. For the troupe, all of them were before the Lord Srinivasa and the curtain was put behind them for them to have wonderful darshan. These could happen only when we have His Blessings.
Shri Varadharajen singles out Sri VSV and Smt Bombay Jayashri for the success of the drama.
They have been improving and whatever he wants to add , Smt Jayashri joy fully get it done.
The golden jubilee show was held at Sri Chandrasekarendra Swamigal hall at Vani Mahal on 18th September 2016. While Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao, noted musicologist and Secretary Music Academy presided over the function, the pride of Indian Cinema LATE Shri S.P.Balasubramaniam was the guest of honour He said henceforth Shri Varadharajen could only be called as Thyagayya.

SRI THYAGARAJAR now has already completed 147 shows and heading towards its 150th show celebrations
