Dooku’s philosophy would have also been appreciated during the High Republic era too, in Dooku Jedi lost it was said he was brown during the finale days of the High Republic era so this makes sense.
A good well intentioned man grows bitter aat seeing a problem he cannot fix, then he falls in with the wrong crowd, has Sidious whispering in his ear, then he embraces darkness. I feel sad for the man he once was, but the man he became was too far gone and had to be stopped. Dooku is easily one of my favorite characters, not least because even at his worst he still had a soft spot for Qui-Gon and by extension Obi-Wan, warped as that sentimentality streak of his was.
The tales of the Jedi show was surprisingly interesting! I thought I would mainly watch it for Ahsoka but ended up liking the story arc about Dooku more!
I always had the feeling George Lucas has two different characters in Mind, when he created Count Dooku: Darth Tyranus the evil young apprentice of Sidious and an old General, that had lost his believe in the Jedi Order and created the Separatist Movement. He fused them together: Count Dooku is very similar like Tarkin, the audience should enjoy his Evil 😈 nature on 📺: but it makes it very hard to feel sorry 😢 for his demise… and he is twice as old as Palpatine, so it feels weird, that he still wanted to learn about the dark side…

TOTJ certainly made Douku a better character.
