@@cylersmiley5259 respectfully you are technically wrong although correct this song is mostly David. But the originals with Nick Mason the drummer and Rick Wright the keyboard player are a must. @@cylersmiley5259 no, david gilmour has only been foremost in floyd since roger left, gilmour always wanted the limelight, the best version of floyd will always be waters, gilmour, mason, and wright
I loved the reaction! This concert had only one Pink Floyd original member, David Gilmour on the guitar and vocals. The reason all the other bandmembers are having such a great time is that they are on stage playing with a LEGEND and can't hide that they also get to be a spectator to greatness.
@@Trucker231610 Rick, the video I watched was from the 2016 David Gilmour concert in Pompeii. Rick and Nick were not present here. Not sure what your seeing. Have a good day, be safe.
This was David returning to Pompeii as PF played there back in 1971. This is mostly David and is a good rendition, but to truly blow your minds with David (guitar), Nick Mason (drums) & Richard wright (keyboards), it's 3/4 Floyd at Pulse 1994. Another good version is David Gilmour Live 2002, the encore at the end with Bob Geldof - he played 'Pink' in the Wall movie and got PF together for their final appearance at lIve 8 - is just beautiful. Pared down, Rick guesting on keyboards, no flashy lightshow but when he swaps acoustic for electric guitar, the crowd go wild.
I was fortunate enough to see David Gilmour on this tour in 2016 when it came through Chicago. I had only just become a Pink Floyd fan the year before, and I loved David's singing and guitar playing, so to get to see him solo was a must! He sounded amazing at 70 years old, as this video attests. As for future reactions, I suggest checking him out with Pink Floyd from the 1994 Pulse tour. Specifically, the song 'Sorrow.' It's got another amazing Gilmour solo and the whole band is on fire.
A different version, but still captivating. Here David is 22 years older, and his vocal performance is starting to decline somewhat, although he is still very good. In this version recorded in 2016, David is 70 years old, while in the Pulse version that was recorded in 1994, he was only 48 years old.
pulse version was the one. this is just david gilmour on his own, who is amazing. also if u love background singers, again from their pulse concert 94, their song "great gig in the sky" is ALL them, they kill it.
David Gilmour always follows the same rule in this song: the first guitar solo is always the same as in the original studio version, but the second solo is always different - he always improvises in it. By the way - he was 70 years old at the time of this concert (it's 1946).
David Jon Gilmour was born on 6 March 1946 in Cambridge, England. His father, Douglas Gilmour, was a senior lecturer in zoology at the University of Cambridge, and his mother, Sylvia (née Wilson), trained as a teacher and later worked as a film editor for the BBC. In 1962, Gilmour began studying A-Level modern languages at the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology. Despite not finishing the course, he eventually learnt to speak fluent French. Wikipedia
These guys are so perfect live, you would think they were lip synching. No improvisation. Ever. It's 100% perfect always, every time. Gilmour says the improvisation happens during the song write, not the performance. A different take for sure, but what a legend.
This is the first time I've seen y'all in here best choice in music😊. If you really want to see an amazing light show watch Comfortably Numb live at pulse.. Mind Blowing!!!
The drummer should be smiling (he does alot), after all he gets to play those songs with David Gilmour lol. David's not really free styling....you'd be surprised that the songs sound remarkably the same down through all the years, they may add more, but the original is very similar. 94 live pulse remastered/re-edit. Here are a few outstanding songs with visual, pyro and top notch production. SORROW (guitar rivals this song if not better), ONE OF THESE DAYS (instrumental with David playing a flat pedal steel), KEEP TALKING (he uses a voice box on his guitar), their encore closer RUN LIKE HELL (crazy pyro). Some of their classics you should watch on this concert are ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL and MONEY...TIME. i can go on here lol SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND, not one bad song
Agreed, they need to listen to both the Pulse Live and studio versions. You have only scratched the surface, they have some of the greatest albums and songs anyone ever made, regardless of time or genre. Try the song 'Time' off of the amazing Dark Side of the Moon album, arguably the best album of all time. You ladies want a musical experience you will never, ever forget? Listen to that album in its entirety, 42 minutes of surprise and wonder. I saw that album live twice by Floyd, it changed the way I look at music. (They encored with Echoes the first time I saw them). Enjoy! 🎵
Great to see a reaction to this version- most reaction videos default to the Pulse concert version. For a complete contrast check out High Hopes from the same gig - it’s beautiful!
As far as a light show this is a kindergarten show compared to the 1994 pulse version of Comfortably Numb!! With this you just don't realize the magnitude of a Pink Floyd concert! I mean as far as a light show this concert is like comparing a flashlight to a nuclear bomb when it comes to difference in magnitude! It's just funny to hear you guys say this light show is amazing when it really isn't in comparison to pulse! So I've beaten the dead horse enough, just go to something on the Pulse concert and you'll see!
To answer your question, David Gilmour was 70 when he performed here. I don't think the drummer can believe he is playing with such a rock icon, and Nick Mason's shoes were pretty big ones to try and fill. A nice bit of trivia - that guitar strap with the crosses on it once belonged to Jimi Hendrix, so just fantasise about the gigs that has experienced, and weep! I still prefer the version from the 1994 Pulse Tour though for the guitar solo and the most epic light show of all time.
Not just it look good or sound good but listen to the lyrics of pink Floyd often so deep and so emotional , simple put there is nobody like them they are unique please try to get into some of their stuff but remember their albums are mostly concept albums and should be listened to in the correct order but having said that virtually every track can be listened to just for enjoyment , well done for reacting enjoyed your input 👍
Good reaction, try Genesis - Firth Of Fifth I know what i like, in Rome 2007 live, a wonderfull number with the best vocals of Phil Collins ever, you vil like it a lot for sure
nice video guys pink floyd are those guys . check out led Zeppelin -stairway to heaven live its the greatest rock song ever trust me you wont be disappointed
good version but not the best, pink floyd with roger waters is a must for authenticity, but for the best ever guitar solo is the pulse live version, best years and most successful years were when pink floyd were led by roger waters, since waters left they went from just 4 players to nearly 2 of every instrument
This is a David Gilmore solo tour. You want Pink Floyd live at Pulse 1994.

Gilmour plays lead guitar slower than everyone else, because every one of his notes has so much more to say.

David was 70 here. I can’t think of another musician who was truly still in their “prime” at that age.

Pink Floyd is Legendary, and David Gilmour is an international treasure! Check out their 1994 Pulse Concert version of "Comfortably Numb"!
The guitar strap David was wearing was Jimi Hendrix's, given to David for his birthday by his wife.
