Excellent, detailed instructions. I'm about to remove the column out of my '87 Monte SS and send it off to be rebuilt and refinished. Thank you sir for the time you have taken to chronicle your build.
Hello, redoing all the steering in my 79 El Camino… extremely interested in the intermediate steering shaft you’re using on your car and where I could get it exactly if you have a part number or anything else that would help or more detail on which ones would work that would be great! I’d like to get rid of the stock unit… thanks for all the great videos very detailed and helpful! Keep up the great work…
I have a 1983 el Camino and I’m having trouble fixing the windshield wipers. They only turn on when the fuse is put in and they only turn off when the fuse is pulled out and I’m not sure where the switch is for them can’t find any articles on fixing them
Google for the schematic. Someone has prob posted a pic of the page. Check with GBodyForum.com They have a lot of discussions about wiring diagrams so it may be there too. If all else fails, buy a Service Manual. You won't regret it.
Say bro.... That input shaft on the steering column there that connects to the intermediate shaft... What size is that shaft... Is it an in or 3/4 of an inch????
I have a 84 caprice wagon and I can’t get the ignition switch to work and the tilt doesn’t hold anymore so I’m going to have to replace my column Bc idk what it could be
I have an 86 G Body, I’ve have wheels rotated and alignment done but my car still pulls to right and when braking it pulls to right, could a caliper issue cause pulling while driving(but not braking)? My suspension is all new and I have 17x8” wheels as well as Jeep shaft
If it pulls right, have the shop double check their alignment. If it pulls under braking only, check the left caliper (weaker left braking can make the car pull right). Check to see if the caliper is frozen on the bolts (it should float on the caliper bolts) If OK then check the flow of fluid from right to left (no foot on pedal just crack open the right and left bleeders one at a time and see how fast the fluid drips out, if the same , then bleed the brakes [all 4 corners by specs] you may have some air in left front. Road test after to see if there's any difference.
hutchhiperf the shop did an alignment and it was dead straight then I had my steering box replaced and had another alignment done, it drove straight then a day later during braking or driving straight it has same slight pull. I rotated tires but no luck...I’ll check what you said to check. Thanks.
@@charlieb308 If it does it both driving and braking (and you replaced the box) try putting the front of the car up on jack stands. Start it up and rev the engine slightly. See if the wheels will turn to the right on their own. May be the box.
hutchhiperf when front end of my 86 SS is off ground I start it up and hit gas the wheels do not move..but it does seem like the drivers side wheel is harder to roll when moving by hand

Who rebuilt your steering column

I have an 82 regal and I was wondering were I can get a wire diagram for the steering column

It's technically 1 inch, but the end is sort of a double "D" shape, if that helps.
@@hutchhiperf definitely helps... Ty🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
What is the length of steering column. Ive seen chrome replacements in 30” and 33”?

I smell a yard crawl coming. Happy hunting!
Can the cruise control wiring be removed if not in use or does it have it
Yes. I removed mine because I'm deleting the cruise control.

hutchhiperf I would die if it was the box, rebuilt by turnone steering. I’ll give it a try.
