      @@kalanipitmon7817 for sure optics help and I run them but I love to see someone showing that you don’t necessarily need all the extra stuff as long as you train the basics of marksmanship! One of my favorite guns to shoot is my Bushmaster HBAR with the C7 upper! I put a trijicon front post night sight on it and it’s so much fun to just shoot a simple rifle with irons! I do have a primary arms 2.5x prism scope for it but I love to take it off and run the irons!

    That’s awesome Reid. I have to remember that you’re showing us it can be done with irons, not telling us to only use irons. I have several rifles that I keep irons only because they make you work for it a little more and it’s fun. But I’ll never grab one over my gats with optics if I need it for anything other than hole defense.

    I know it sucks running out of breath. I busted through a yellow jacket nest on the dozer. By the time i got in the farm house i couldn't tell my wife what was wrong. But when i dropped my pants 20 yellow jackets flew out. She figured it out. Lol. I'm little older so i started out shooting 50 yards 25 yards then 7. Now I run the 100 to 7 and at 7 i shoot at another 100. My range I'm shooting i run up hill. My other range is flat but only can shoot 100 yards. It takes time to get in shape but a person can do it.

    Reid, what aperture are you using for your rear iron sights?
    For whatever reason i have an MBUS Pro LR rear on a 20" FNA4 and the POI is different between the small and large aperture even with the same nose to charging handle stance.
    I was wondering if i should sight for the small peep or large aperture?

    • @ReidHenrichs
      @ReidHenrichs  4 месяца назад +7

      I only use the small.

    • @woodsghost9088
      @woodsghost9088 4 месяца назад

      I don't know what rear your using, but here are some things to consider:
      Most quality rear sights have the same plane and point of impact between the big and small aperture. They even shift left/right a hair to account for the windage shift when you flip them on a screw.
      Some quality rear sights have a 2.5 MOA shift between the big and small to allow you to sight in at 200 yards and then rise 7.5 inches at so you can hit at 300 hards. (3x2.5 = 7.5). This will mostly work with 55gr or 62gr 5.56 and 14.5-20 inch barrels. Not guaranteed to work with 223 and/or shorter barrel lengths or heavier rounds.
      Now, if you are using plastic rear sights, like what Magpul makes, I can guarantee you will have a POI shift between the big and small aperture because it's all just plastic. They are not precisely made. So the center will shift between the big and small apertures as you flip between them.

    • @CRDefense
      @CRDefense 4 месяца назад

      @@woodsghost9088 I'm using the steel Magpul MBUS but it has a dial adjustment for elevation at the rear.
      The big aperture hits about 6-7" high at 100yds using a 200m zero that is sighted with the small aperture. The impacts should be 1.5" high. That theory would make sense if i was using large aperture for a 300m zero, i should confirm at 36yds.

    • @woodsghost9088
      @woodsghost9088 4 месяца назад

      @@CRDefense does the small aperture hit 1.5 inches high at 100? Because that is really weird.
      I didn't know Magpul made metal rear sights. I looked up your listed model and it looks plastic to me, but I've not handled one in real life.
      If the small maintains expected zero at 100 and 200, I would stick with that.
      Using nose to charging handle, the small can be very fast in CQB, but I do like the big one for low light without a white light.
      For low light with white light, the small works. I just smoked a raccoon at 50y with the small aperture and a decent white light at 11pm. She was getting after my chickens. And she was moving as soon as she was hit with the white light.
      I like the big aperture for highly dynamic targets inside 20 yards too. So for 95% of my real world uses, the small aperture works best.
      If you want, I can try and trouble shoot your sight problem. But it sounds like the apertures are not on the same elevation plane. Your windage zero doesn't change? Just the elevation? Then it really sounds like they are just not precisely aligned. And I don't know a logical reason for that. Other than "manufacturers fault."
      Good luck!

    I Love An Adrenaline Rush.
    The Best Adrenaline Rush I have Ever had was 2 Weeks Before My 22nd Birthday (2014) I was Going 100 Plus MPH in an Early 2000s Oldsmobile Van Fleeing and Trying to Elude the Cops than I got Spike Stripped in another County and They Dropped the Charges 3 Day Later.
    6 Years (2020) After Fleeing and trying to Elude the Cops I got a Job Delivering Auto Parts to Mechanic Shops.
    The Second Best Adrenaline Rush I have Ever had was in My Old POS 2010 Dodge Avenger when I would Drift Around Corners, Do 180s, and Do Reverse 180s.
    I have done a Reverse 180 with My Mom and Niece in the Vehicle Which Scared the Hell Out of My Mom.
    I have Done a Reverse 180 with My Uncle in the Vehicle; He Laughed and Said "That was Fun".
    I have Also Drifted around Corners with My Niece in the Vehicle; One day I Messed Up Drifting around a Corner and My Niece Asked Me "What the Fuck was that?".
    I Also Love Driving Fast.
