i caught it from where it crosses Holcolmb valley rd.(2N09). I think its the best place. The cougar crest trail can also be used to connect to PCT, but that adds like 5 miles. I did this hike in 5 days, 9 miles to Holcolmb creek, 12 miles to Deep creek, 16 miles to the small spring, 12 miles to Lake Silverwood, and 4 miles to the car.
@Earthculturemusic the Bradford ridge trail is cool. Last time I was there thats the way I took. The dirt section was still open on 173..too bad they closed it, it was a way shorter drive. The womb is the big pool below the small palm.
@davidsquall351 it was an awesome hike! fyi there is no good camping at those springs, i was smashed in between boulders. i looked around, but it was the only tiny patch of sand in this little rocky canyon. if you dont need space or comfort... it works fine. but the fishing in upper deep creek was awesome! and you cant beat a soak in the hot springs half way through a hike!
@yobtafbgm i started from Holcomb valley rd.(2N09). Ray is doing pretty good, he's back hiking, quite a bit slower, but he's doing it. we've even done a few overnighters.
@Earthculturemusic Yeah with a second look that was a tight spot..lol I havent been to Deep creek in a long while. Was it busy when you were there? The Womb pool is my favorite.
Hey I know it's been a while- but where did you get on the pct in the big bear area? And how many miles a day did you do over the course of 3 days. My brother an I really want to do this same hike soon, but we don't know where exactly is the best spot to catch the pct outside big bear. Let me know please!
@davidsquall351 not busy, only like 4 or 5 nude dudes. if you go, try the bradford ridge trail... i just discovered the trail recently... its the best way... its free. which one is the womb?
