Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless headphones review

- Jabra is kicking ass when it comes to the fully wireless earbuds market. They were leaders in semi-wireless headphones and now they have no less than three truly wireless earbuds on offer. I recently received a pair of the new Jabra Elite 65t truly wireless headphones for review.
These headphones are engineered for calls and music, as opposed to sports use (there's the Elite Active, or Elite Sport for that.)
Setting these headphones up is quite easy.
Conveniently, the earbuds turn on right away when removed from the case, and they'll shut down when you replace them. I love this feature since it helps prolong battery life. Speaking of which, promised battery life on these headphones is up to 5 hours of battery on a single charge, and up to 15 hours in total with the included pocket-friendly charging case.
There’s no need to start and stop music with a button: when you remove an earbud from your ear while listening to music, the music will automatically pause. I love this feature!
These headphones are easy to put in and take out and don't require a lot of finessing to manouver, since they don't have any fins to fiddle with.
The right earbud can be used alone for mono playback or for calls.
I tried the Jabra 65t in a variety of environments, and with a bunch of different music.
I was quite impressed with how good they. Listening to more vocal-forward tracks, the voice was very clear and distinct. The bass was pretty good also; not bone rattling, but it had more of a true sound to it than a vibration. Solid and pleasant.
Overall the sound was clear and crisp. There was no distortion or muddiness at higher volumes, and even at 70% volume it was still pleasant to listen to.
Jabra’s HearThrough technology uses the built-in microphones to enable you to pay closer attention to your surroundings and engage in conversation without needing to remove the earbuds.
Overall I really like these headphones. In fact, I was surprised at how much I liked them. The fit is quite comfortable, the battery life is solid, and the sound quality is very impressive.
If you're looking for a solid and reliable pair of truly wireless headphones, these are a good pick I think most folks would be really happy with.
Jabra Elite 65t sells for $219 CAD and you can find them on Jabra’s website, from places like Best Buy, and here below link up at Amazon.
Definitely the best review for those earphones, you explain all features of the Jabra elite 65t. Nice work.
Thanks so much Alex!
A great great review without wasting words on non interest agendas common to these reviews.
Well done.
😍 thanks for the compliment!
nice product review! jabra has always been a great sound qaulity brand!
Thanks so much for the compliment Scott. They sure do.
Hey Erin really enjoyed your review. You explained everything perfectly. So I've read and seen a lot of reviews on Amazon and on these air buds and it seems like there's a lot of negative reviews saying that certain issues with static in left ear bud or not working after 2 to 3 months of use as much as I want these im a little sceptical at the moment.
Thank you! I haven't had any problems and I'm continuing to use them.
Bluetooth 5.0
your phone probably has 4.2 or something
I have the 65T Active and I don't have any audio sync issues while watching youtube or facebook videos.
Thanks for posting your experience!
Angad Anand I heard iPhones have that delay and android doesn’t
Ah, I wouldn't know ... I have a OnePlus5... I haven't used an iPhone since the 3G
do you have audio sync issues on windows 10?
Firmware updates have resolved any audio delays. Battery life is fantastic on my Xperia XZ2 since both are BT 5.0.
Some have already commented about the 5.0 Bluetooth that is running on the Jabra 65t s. The iPhone that you used only has the earlier version of Bluetooth. Unless it is a 8 or a 10 iPhone and the MacBook which now come with Bluetooth 5.0 . Samsung S8 and the note products have also adopted Bluetooth 5.0 which enables the possibility of above CD quality sound because of the speed being so much faster(1411kbps for cd) that compression and decompression are not needed at the front and back end of the audio and cause the lag of audio to video. IPhone did come up with the W1 chip which only works with Beats and airpods to compete with aptx and aptx HD which are compression algorithms to allow a larger files to be transmitted with the limited speed of the old Bluetooth. It works really well if you try it with a phone that is aptx or aptx HD compatible and the Bluetooth device too you don't get that lag audio to video. 5.0 also gives the option to sacrifice distance for expanded bandwidth that's probably why the Jabra only goes 30 ft like standard Bluetooth does they opted for Clear more concentrated sound instead of distance which I'll have to say I agree with them. I just keep my phone with me and have better sound. Sorry my comment was so long but the future does look bright for Quality sound.
This is great feedback and info Dana. Thanks for posting it.
Yeah Apple's iPhone is just too average and mediocre across the board. They've conditioned a generation of users to low end audio listening experience. It's such a modern tragedy.
If you squeeze the sides of the case you will notice that the lid will flip open a lot easier.
Thanks. for the tip, Neil. I'll try that!
Would these work with radios? PTT feature as my work radios have Bluetooth?
For all of you interested on the s8/s8 plus there are no latency issues for me also pretty comfortable after getting used to them for a couple days sound is pretty clear and can have a lot of bass it you want it using the equalizer and is also good for watching videos movies etc. Battery wise very good just make sure to charge the case every day/couple of days depending on your listening time hear through is pretty cool and I can see it being very useful if you like to ride bikes you will be. Greeted with zero wind noise calling is flawless also they connect absurdly easy to the phone my review 9 out of 10
Control buttons:
11/1/19-If you're wondering how to control the music, each earbud houses a different set of controls. The left earbud features a rocker for adjusting volume *(up/down)* and a long press *(hold back or forward)* allows you to skip or go to a previous track.
The right earbud houses a single button that can play/pause music, answer call, and activate your voice assistant with a long press. It also doubles as a power button with a long press.
Side note and update 11/5/19: The sound and battery life is great, but I ended up taking them back to Best Buy because they would not stay in my ears during basic workouts or jogging (even after switching the gel tips).
*Example: Just the other day, I was out jogging when the right earbud fell out and rolled down the street 😧. Prior to the earbud falling out, I had a hard time situating it securely in the ear so that I could jog.
These particular earbuds by Jabra are not a bad product, however, it just did not work for me.
Got it in Bestbuy for CA$169 when it was on sale. Good sound quality if I put the right-sized tips on. Took me a while to figure out how to open the case. Everything is great so far.
Thanks for the tip and your assessment, Paddy!
Paddy Husker they just went on sale at Best Buy and the source gonna grab a pair how’s your experience so far
Nice review Erin! I have been using these for a few months and i love them! I have an iPhone as well and experienced the sync issue with RUclips videos, but when it comes to other streaming video services like HBO Now and Netflix I was good to go. I recently read that if you refresh the screen it’s not as bad, but like you mentioned frustrating for consumers.
Hi Jordan, thanks for the compliment! This is great feedback.
It is because you dont have bluetooth 5.0 on your phone
Great tips, thanks for hitting on alot of things that were in question for me.
Glad it helped you Rhonda.
Great stuff, Erin! Since I'm a "sporty" type guy...going to check out your Elite Sport video.
YAY! :D
I had the gear iconx 2018 for months and just bought these, much much better!! The iconx fit is too top heavy
Great feedback! Thanks for posting.
Luckily icon x sold out in my country i ended up buy the jabra lol
Really great review. Congrats!
Thanks so much for saying so Ezio!
I own airpods beoplay e8s and just recently the Jabra elite.
I'd put the Jabra above the airpods in terms of audio quality. The connectivity is on par with the airpods. I actually like having the physical controls. And the fit is amazing. Super snug.
Compared to the beoplay...I'd say the e8s come on top but it's not reflected in the price difference. The e8s can be a pain to initially connect. Whereas the Jabra connect as soon as you remove them from the case.
Speaking of the case...the jabras is a pain to open and slippery. However the seating is great. Similar to the airport case. The beoplay e8s case is annoying in that sometimes one of the buds won't make a clean connection because it isn't seated perfectly.
Great info for folks trying to make a decision. Thanks for posting.
@@ErinLawrenceTV thanks Erin :) *feels special *
Hello Erin, thank you for your review; I really enjoyed it. My question is with regards to using these with a MacBook as I note you said they worked great with yours. Would you happen to know if the call functionality is available also? Many thanks in advance.
Good review! I just bought these because my friends recommended them. I think they're pretty good and they fit well, just wish they had Type C charger instead xd. Oh yeah iv'e heard some iphones had trouble with the sync as well, my note 9 and s8+ have no issues!
Thanks for weighing in, Nightlord.
Great review ❤️
Thank you! 🤗
Save money & get the non-active version for gym. It has plenty of sweat protection.
How are they while running?
To open the case easily, you push back on that ridge. This is the instruction in the manual that is included in the user app. Squeezing the sides doesn't help.
Squeezing the sides does help
Thank you for the reviews on both the 65t and the sport model. As the Jabra Elite Sport V.2 (with 4.5 hour battery life) now on sale for $199.99 CND and Elite Active 65t on sale for $209.99 CND, I was wondering about the difference in comfort and size between the Jabra Elite Sport and Elite Active 65t since there is really no side by side comparison I could fine. I ended up buying both just to try them out for myself. Based on most reviews, they like the 65t over sport due to comfort and size; however, after compare them side by side I really don't see much difference in size(neither could my children) especially when I ware them. I try the sport first and thought it was a bit tight right out of the box and 65t was more comfortable; however, after changing the attachment to the same configuration as the 65t (all accessories to small size) the sport version is actually more comfortable, more secure and air tight to my ears. consider the lower price with more accessories, stronger & more secure (but larger) case and fully water + dust proof (I was able to listen to music during shower!), the Jabra Elite Sport V.2 is a better choice for me. Thank you for the great review on both of them.
Thanks so much for watching those reviews George, and for this detailed feedback on the products. I think people will find it very helpful.
I had a pair for 3months dropped them 5 feet onto concrete now the left one is toast. They are so awesome I just bought a second pair today and will be more careful.
Great video I’m going to buy them soon
Let us know how it goes, and thanks for the compliment!
I really enjoy watching your video very informative
Thank you very much Dary!
Not a fan of how they fit. The biggest one is not able to fit. The medium one I have trouble fitting. And even when they fit the left earbud especially still feels loose. The small size fits and feels fitting but isn't that comfortable. I'll personally be returning them. Quite a shame as they are pretty good for noise isolation which is what I was looking for.
amazing Video. definitely a nice choice
Thank you!
Hi Erin, great review. From what I've noticed, I believe the sync issues you were having depends on the Bluetooth version you were using, as an example, a device with Bluetooth 5.0 won't have any sync issues compared to when you use a device which is Bluetooth 3.0. Cheers!
Thank you for the compliment Shane, and the informative comment.
I'm late but you weren't wearing them right, as far as I know the mic points down. Jabra should be side ways
I'm glad I ordered them from Best Buy so I could return them if they didn't work. I returned them the next day because they never fit my ears properly no matter what tip I used. They would get loose in my ears as I talked and then fall out if I made any moves. They also caused me ear fatigue after only an hour of use. A Terrible product (for me).
That's too bad, Max. What did you get instead.
I am still looking. I moved away from IOS years ago so Apple's products are out of the question for me. I have a few single-ear bluetooth headsets that I use but they are not of much use for listening to music or movies on airplanes. I also have a pair of Tiger Dual Elite over-the-ears headsets which are excellent but they don't block out aircraft noise.
I had same problem. Real bummer cause I loved the sound but couldn’t deal with discomfort.
How long is the charging cable for the case and how long does it take to recharge the case itself? TIA
I’ve noticed with my jaybirds that all is in sync if I use Safari; it is only out of sync in the RUclips app. That might be the difference when you tested on your Mac and your iPhone?
Thanks, great review!
Thanks so much Jesper!
The lip sync delay is iOS only; there is no perceptible audio lag on Android. This is a known issue with iOS and most true wireless earbuds.
mbaxter22 its an issue with older phones that can’t use bt 5.0
In my country the price of jabra elite 65t is slightly cheaper than sony wx1000 earbuds but honestly i found out that this jabra earbuds has a better performance overall
Thanks for adding your thoughts Dary.
Nice review
Thank you so much Jerricson!
They look pretty good. Except why aren't they USB type-C chargeable?
Byron Hutton yeah, it's annoying that companies are still making micro USB accessories, when I travel now I only bring one charger with me, USBC. It charges both my laptop in my phone, it would stink to have to bring a separate charger for my headphones. I guess you could just get a micro USB to USB C adapter in the bottom of the charging case.
@@claypool7897 I need a separate charger anyway because my fast charge USB charger is 5v 4A so it would burn the case
it's me no, it won’t burn it.
@@eliransabak1447 that's not how electricity works. The casw just draws the current it needs.
Hey there Ms. Erin, I have a question, when you're on a phone call, does the call come through both earbuds or just one?
Hi John, Great question. But I can't remember!
Just one, as designed.
And what is the difference between jabra elite 65t vs jabra elite active 65t
My Sol Republic's have the same synchronization issues with videos on my Surface and Samsung phone.
Hey. Cool Stuff. Like your video style. I think after AirPods, Pixel Buds - these could be the next best thing.
Thanks for sharing your insights for Jabra Elite.
God Bless.
Thanks so much for watching, Shahrukh!
I wasn't able to sync with my computer either. That is one of my only complaints.
Hello, this may be a weird question. I just got my Jabra 65t. While playing music, and you remove one side(e.g. right side) does your jabra app states the right side is not in your ears(greyed out) and your music continues playing on the left? Vice versa in the left side? Hope to get an answer from you soon. Thank you!
Hi Faezah, thanks for watching. I haven't noticed this. I'll take a look.
i am using Airpods, want to try something new. 🙂
I wanted your advice, I have purchased both the Bose soundsportfree truly wireless earbuds and jabra elite 65t and I had offers, so i got BOSE for 100 dollars and jabra for 120 dollars, now I like jabra but i dnt knw what to keep, should I go with BOSE or JABRA is better??
Wish I could choose; I've not tried the Bose ones. You'll have to tell ME which one is best! ;)
From where you bought these at this price?
I hope these are better then jlab air wireless which don't waste your money on. Bought a pair and they quit on me.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Joseph.
I had the iconx 2018 sound was pretty bad and pretty low. But they look so much better. And I just got these jabra and the sound is better but again these wireless cordless buds are just not loud enough. Disappointing but I guess it's a feature of every single cordless buds Im always looking to raise the volume. And these jabra do not stay in my ear unlike the icons. Anyway guess back to over the ear headphones I go.
Put the volume all the way up on the left earbud and on your phone. It'll blow away your ears
I just got mine and D/L the update then read the user manual in the mobile app is more detailed on function and features. No Video Sync with mine on Video.
I notice mine has a slight audio video delay issue when you focus on the lips when talking.
Do this earbuds has good sound, fitting in ear, base ?
Is it possible to exercise or run in these? How to do they compare to the Active or Sport ones?
Yes they’d work well for exercise and running. Generally sport or active ones just have some sweat resistance to them.
Are they worth it dear?
Hi, Erin. I was wondering if you encountered any issues after using them for a couple months. Anyone else is free to answer as well.
Hi Harkrit. Great question. They have been very good. I’m also currently reviewing the Jabra 75 and 85 t. Watch for that video soon.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Alright great. Thanks and will keep an eye out for that.
You can only use the right earbud by itself, but you can not use the left earbud by itself, which is annoying.
Do we have any issues in jabra elite 65t
I have had no issue with audio syncing with Netflix, Amazon or RUclips videos. But, I have an Android.
Which phone do you use?
I have no problem with my Google Pixel2XL also,it's perfect!
No sync issues with Android, it's just Apple that sucks as usual, those are Bluetooth 5.0 which is the latest and greatest
Thanks for adding your thoughts, VLogs.
What is the best buds in calls, actually I bought galaxy buds 5 days ago and it's very bad in calls, I need to return it back but I don't know which is better to buy, I have Samsung note 8, please advise
The Sennheiser Momentum sounded pretty good also... ruclips.net/video/7lpoT6Sf7pE/видео.html
On my android phone there is no delay
I got a pair lastnite, I like them alot but the only thing is I feel they don't get load enough....I work in a machine shop and sometimes they aren't quite load enough
A unique problem to have!
Lots of people have this problem but it’s because you have to raise the volume on the buds and also on your phone. 2 separate volumes
Is there a solution to the sync issues with jabra elite active 65t???
Would these work with radios? PTT feature as my work radios have Bluetooth?
I'm not sure. Do other headphones work that way?
Hi
if i watch a RUclips video with this will it be out of Sync?
pretty accurate review. had purchased one and didn't like it. you have mentioned the things i didn't like about the earbuds
Thanks Joey!
hey I just got these set of earbuds and using it starting today. Major issue is when I look down, the left earbud gets cut off. this is with auto pause off, music still plays on R earbud but when the left earbud goes too far, the right one remains playing while the left one gets cut off... is this normal or should I get a replacement?
Oh no! Sounds very abnormal to me. I'd return them and get a new pair. Thanks for watching.
Erin Lawrence hey it’s the interference I’m getting in my home. When I went to the park or the library, signal connection was perfect. Idk what in my home is causing the interference but it just means I can’t use it at home then...
Awww. That sucks.
I loved these in the first day, but in the second day my left earbud was louder than my right one...
Oh no. Is it still?
Try to update your buds..
This is my problem to since day 1.
I bought these two years ago, and they sat in the box and never used.. I pulled them out of the box a couple days ago, and they wouldn’t work, and they were fully charged.. they will flash green, but will not flash blue to pair.. Don’t buy these, complete JUNK!!!!!! I’m not going to call the manufacturer since I already know they are going to tell me to bad so sad… I did learn a lesson and that is when I buy something don’t let it sit around and not to be used for a period of time…
Sorry to hear that :(
How does it stay in the ear. Very important. My problem wit most ear buds
There are several different ear tips and fins. Thanks for watching Ekim
Erin Lawrence thanks
Ekim Strongcup the left ear one kept falling out on me very easily but it could be just my ear I do have wrestling ears 😣
Which variety would you recommend? Elite 65t, elite sport or active? For a non gym person? Thanks
I have Active 65ts, i hate them hurting my ears , sound goes missing some times. Now they wont charge left them in case overnight and only 10 percent battery. I thinl they broke the bone in my left ear. NEVER WILL JABRA AGAIN.
We're they in sync with video on an Android phone ?
Good question. I'll try. Are you Android?
Erin Lawrence audio/video syncs perfect with my note 8
You said these can connect to macbooks and laptops. Could you please provide instructions on how to setup the Jabras with these as it seems I am not able to connect them to Macs as they do not show up on the bluetooth list of the mac. Not sure of the problem I may have with my Windows bluetooth connection as well.
These are connected to my Macbook Pro right now: Put them into pairing mode, then go to the Bluetooth on top of your computer's taskbar. Click Open Bluetooth Preferences. You should see them, and then if you connect, they'll stay connected any time they're in range.
@@ErinLawrenceTV I have a macbook pro 2011 with mac os 10.10.5. When I tried these steps, the jabras did not show up on the list. Also the Jabra site says these are not optimised for laptops.
Do i need to upgrade my OS? Or you suspect some other problem?
Interesting. If you're sure they're in pairing mode (you can see them on your phone, otherwise) then I'm not sure. Maybe an iOS upgrade would help. Keep me posted.
No more lag since Apple upgraded to ios
Is jabra activ better then jabra elite 65t
Yes
Question re volume control. I'm using these with Android. When using volume controls from the headset does the Bluetooth slider on the phone move? On my phone the volume control on the headset is separate from the Bluetooth volume.
Hmmm... I'd need to look again to check
@@ErinLawrenceTV I confirmed with another RUclips blogger that the volume control on Android is independent of the Bluetooth volume slider. On iOS the headset volume adjusts the Bluetooth volume on the phone
That thing is expensive af LOL
Grey video
Thanks James.
i do have sync issues specifically in youtube on my business Lenovo laptop , not on my IPhone 7.
Jaroslav Strnátko try updating the firmware
It's usually an apple issue
Not true to big for your ears, hurts to much in the ear I hate them I hit them for Christmas sucks
DO NOT BUY THESE!!!! You need huge hears to fit these. Just tried Samsung way better. Riding my bike at 18mph wind noise is so bad I can barely hear them. An NO I don't have the ambient noise feature on. I bough because of better waterproof rating but now we will find out as these are going in the lake.. BIGGEST WASTE of MONEY!! MY $35 Phillips blow these out of the water. I hate all these you tube reviewers who say everything is good and then put the link for their $$$$ to amazon. P.S. I have tried many different angles and have been wearing wireless buds for years.
DO NOT BUY these earbuds for the fitness features!!! Read the reviews in the App Store for the Jabra Sport App first! You’ll find out the earbuds will NOT connect to the application ( trust me I know, I’ve spent three hours trying to get mine to connect and it’s a known issue that their garbage and every reviewer is having the same issue) and gets like one star in the App Store. So that means NO heart rate, NO workout feature, ect... If you want standard ear buds with NO extra features, go ahead and buy them, but the heart rate monitor, GPS ability, etc will NOT work. This is as of 16Dec18 /10:19 pm Eastern Time. BTW, I’m running an iPhone X. My phone is updated, the earbud’s firmware is updated, and the application is updated.
I suggest to read this review before you buy Jabra Elite 65t :
www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/8xvyra/iconx_2018_vs_jabra_65t_july_2018_firmwares/?
I've tested and hear the same thing, left side is louder at higher frequency
