CSW is the only oboe I've been able to find that actually sounds like a real oboe. That real James Horner-esque melancholy whine (if that makes sense). I guess it's hard to capture!
Thank you man for good review! I love how this library sound, I`m professional clarinettist and I know how musical instruments should sound. Now I gues it's one of the best woodwinds libraries. Not worse than hollywood woodwinds and BBC Symphony Orchestra Woodwinds. I like CS choice of acoustics and the ability to get a "clean" sound to fine-tune the reverb to your liking.
A lovely library. My only - admittedly quite large - complaint is the dynamic crossfades which can result in weird volume bumps and timbre changes during sustained notes. Solo instruments are always tricky in this regard. Also, some releases in the clarinet are wonky (they're sometimes louder than the note itself)
All sounds beautiful except the Oboe, it has the same problem as most of the Oboe's libraries, the phasing one using the modwheel. The only Oboe that doesn't have that problem is the Vienna Symphonic Library Oboe. I LOVE Cinematic Studio libraries, but they didn't nail the Oboe...
Christopher, do you have any suggestions for a good english horn vst? Like the one in the beginning of the theme from Jurrasic Park? : ) I have Spitfire Studio Brass and some other good libraries.
Good question! I enjoy the consistency and workflow, and although the sound isn’t quite as pristine as Berlin, the legato is superb and the libs are relatively light on my disk as well.

My pleasure - glad you like it!

Yes, crossfades can definitely be finicky!

Sounds so amazing. I'm using Spitfire Woodwinds :) Sounds good too.

I personally the one from this lib and OT soloists!
I think this is going to be my Black Friday purchase this year. I was considering Berlin Woodwinds. How do you think they compare?
Hey, how would you compare this to cinewinds
These sound very good.
Hey Chris! Thanks for this walkthrough. How come these are your go-to over Berlin these days? I know you’re also a big OT fan. Thanks.
