This method will allow you to set a joystick button to switch to a custom camera of your choice (if you're smart, let that be your main flying view like Captain's seat or FO seat) like ChasePlane works, but then in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This means that if you press the button, it will go to that view no matter what. Even if you pan around and want to come back to this custom camera, with just one click it will go back, instead of toggling back and forth between some random view and your custom camera like MSFS normally does. Heck, you can smash the button 1000 times, it will stay in that view!
Unfortunately, I found that it only works with one custom camera as explained in the video, but at least this allows you to switch back quickly to your main flying view under busy circumstances.

Note: in the mean time I did get it to work for two switches. I can now load my custom camera for the captain and the FO view with a single click. You have to mess around with the settings a little bit, either by applying a button to both 'on press' for loading a custom camera and resetting cockpit view, or by putting one of them 'on release'. I noticed MSFS doesn't save the button setup that well sometimes, but this way (since there are two slots for each control function in MSFS) you can setup to load two custom cameras this way!

im in game right now and got a problem. I had the st up ok and now all of a sudden my cockpit view is set outside to the left. its like all the views shifted to the left and I cant get back in the seat. probably find out when I restart but Im in flight atm.
Edit: OK definetely a glitch in game. Back to main menu and started a new flight and Im back into the cockpit.

How hard is it to include a chase view, which has been standard in flight sims for 40 years.
Found a solution for the External View double press. On my Alpha Yoke I have Button 3 (Right Side) set for "Toggle External View". In the second box on "Reset Cockpit View", I assigned Joystick Button 3. Now I can jump back to cockpit view with one button press.

Hello, this is completely unnecessary, by pressing ctrl + F9-F11 you can override the default views "VFR" (wide angle) "IFR" (instrument focused) and "Landing" (looking over the glare shield) to whatever you want. There is also a preset copilot view but I don't know if you can override that with the default controls. Check the cockpit controls for details.
When one of these views is loaded, simply resetting the view will reset to that view which is selected.

At the moment, only have P3D installed to use the PMDG 777 for type rating purposes somewhere this year, but not gonna use it for actual flights anymore. It's been a good ride with P3D, but I just can't go back to this stuttery mess and old graphics engine anymore. Even though MSFS is still lacking some things, its pros outweigh the cons for me.
@@AviationPro I’m really in doubt at the moment. After all that has come out for MSFS it feels like a full-fledged sim, but I have so many addons for P3D… But then again, I hate landing on the old RWY25R at LEBL, with charts an everything updated for the new RWY24R 🤨

Hey AviationPro do you mind me asking for you to a Australian flight in the 737-800 Qantas from cairns to Melbourne at night, If you can do this flight some time then thank you very much. Btw the 737 is my favorite aircraft even know its landings are rough lol anyway hope you can do this flight solo or maybe multicrew if that's possible but anyways thanks if you can mate.

I hate the MSFS camera system and I dont understand why Asobo dont allow Chase Plane camera...
With this method I'm pretty happy how it's working and I don't miss Chaseplane that much anymore :) Only thing I really hate is that the camera tilts with turns, which is very unrealistic
