Turbo Silversurfer, yes, that panel is can be "pressed out". The reason why I choice to use Oznium's LED is rightness. The OEM lights there, are not bright at all. By using a higher power LED light, can you get better coverage and well as luminosity.

I'm sure you don't but I'm just wondering as would the plug be energised (and thus the lights) when I open the door? (if they do, I'm sure they're energised as soon as I unlock the car)
Mc Frosty, some S3s were sold without the interior LED package. My S3 was one of them so I retrofitted the LED lighting. In terms of emergency puddle lights, the plug is there, but you have to code modules to work. For the footwell lighting, you will need to tap into empty plugs and code the modules to work as well. I did perform the footwell retrofit, but never completed the video. It was a complicated project with lots of coding. A few DIYers have accomplished this though.

@@TheAutomotiveFanatic Ah, wonderful thank you for the comment, very helpful! I was thinking about doing footwell lighting but wasn't too keen as it'll probably just show any dirt around there and make me want to clean the car haha. Thank you for the reply and the perfect video! The time you've put in to it all is very much appreciated!
@@mcfrosty8739, not sure where you're located, but Audi-Sport.net has alot of information on the footwell. Here is a link to help you:

And what about the driver side i try to connect the cables as you show us on the passenger side and my windows didint work propertly
Aggelos, do you have a 8V or a 8P? Also, did you try coding to enable the puddle lights?
Hello peter, do i need emergency light or i can just put puddle light ? In my case i got the audi spor logo one and the wiring
oIBRAHIMo, you do not need to use emergency lights. As you can tell, for the puddle lights, I used a super bright LED. In your case, you can use the Audi Sport logo light as long as it fits.
The Automotive Fanatic ok thank you sir
@@oibrahimo1689, no problem! Cheers and thanks for the support.
Can you power the puddle lights from the red door warning lights? I got the red lights from factory but not the puddle lights.
Yes you can. On my particular wiring scheme, the warning and puddle lights are wired in parallel.
Is it the same process for a 2013 A3 8V (same pins and code)? Where can I buy the wire you used?
If your A3 is indeed an 8V, then yes, it's the same procedure. The light wiring kit was purchased on eBay.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic Thanks.
Peter can you please make a tutorial video to show in loco how did you use de vcds?
Best regards
Diogo, I'll review my notes and see about creating something like these. It shouldn't be too difficult, I just have to make sure the instructions are clear and correct.
Ok peter i will wait for the vídeo. Best regards my friend
I wonder what it’d cost to have someone do this
Prices will vary depending on your location. If you're local to Southern California, you can reach out to me directly and I will do the installation.
I just bought puddle lights and a kit with wire harnesses included. I believe I set up all the hardware correctly but am having a real hard time with the coding (ODBEleven). Anyone got any experience with that and can help with getting the puddle lights working?
When I coded this, I used VagCom as some of the coding needs to be "hard-coded." OBD11 uses software which isn't as robust as the traditional hard coding.
Can I code using Carly ???
No, you cannot. This involves changing commands and such which Carly does not do.
What do I need to code this
@@f3automods401 You need access to VAGCOM/VCDS.
I’m having issues installing my puddle lights to my 2015 Audi A3 sports back. The wiring is different from this video. When I hook up the drivers door light it won’t allow me to wind down passenger window from driver side unit
Hey Lewis, a few others who have tried this mod, had similar issues as you. What you may have to do, is hard wire the power line.
Where should I wire the line to?
I tried a fuse extender in the glove box/fuse box and had no joy , running the cable from one side to the other is proving difficult there must be another way, another cable in the door I can tap into ? Problem I am having is that there is no red and black wires everything is multi coloured inside the door
Will this be the same for a 2014 s3 cabriolet in the uk with 2 doors? Would it be just a case of following the instructions for the front door part? Same wire pins etc?
Yes Nick, you would simply follow the directions for the front doors.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic awesome. Thanks pal.
@@NickthaGeek Can you let me know how you got on? I have the same 2 door A3 UK, works on passenger not on driver side??
@@yasinmogradia7297 hi mate. Yeah, did mine fine. All working. I used odbeleven to code it. Remember to do both passenger and drivers side control modules.
@@NickthaGeek What do you mean ? Do I need to to code for each door ?
Does this works on 2017 A3? Is the Red&Black wires the same as A3?
@ Noy Noy, yes, this project will work for the A3. If you run into issues, feel free to post up.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic
Thank you I'll try it when my order gets here.
Would the pin numbers be the same for an A4 2021 B9.5 for the lights? 16&5 front and 13-&12+ for the back?
Honestly, I do not know. We're talking about two very different generations in Audis.
i have a b9 from 2017. the pins are the same, but look out. the blue connector for the front doors is mirrored compared to the s3 apparetly. take a close look to the blue connector, on the side you can see the 1 and the 16 on the other side 17 and 32. i've got mine working!!
Where can i find the electric diagram?
Hello Glenn, unfortunately, I do not have access to the wiring diagram.
HELLO YOU CAN HELPME WHIT CONECTIONS OF THE HANDLE LED AUDI A3 REGARDS FROM MEXICO REALY NICE VIDEOS
Is the wiring same for the 2011 a4 and if not can u please let me now how
@RealTraveller, I don't know the answer to that question, but do believe that you CAN retrofit some in. I would remove the door panel apart and take a look.
Yes my friend is the same pins, front and back
is it the same on a3 8p?
Stefan, I cannot confirm as I never tested it on a 8P.
Are the Door Codes the same for all the Audi’s
Hello William, I do not believe they are. I have coded several different Audi's and in most cases, the codes were very specific to the chassis.
I have bought some puddle and red warning lights complete the with the looms from AliExpress I have fitted them into the holes in the doors but cannot wire them up because no instructions came with them I was thinking of just pushing the wires off the loom into the main door loom-module obviously I will try and find out what colour wires should go to can you show me a close up photo of the door module where your puddle and warning lights go to kind regards Billy
I do not have the red emergency light it is simply only a reflector. Where can I tie or splice into to power my puddle lights?
I do not have the Interior Lighting Package.
Dave, your S3 is like mine as neither of ours came with the Lighting Package. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as tapping in a wire. You'll have to do some coding in addition to the wiring. My video covers all the aspects and should get you going.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic I watched the video. I wantes to avoid coding as I have no means of doing it. I am sure there is a way to do it. Even if I wire into the windows or something can't I just put a resistor in to make sure I don't blow the puddle lightbulb?
Does the coding work for the A3 8V? Please let me know?
Shamirmur, I recently spoke with a few other A3 8V owners who informed me that changing over to the S3 steering wheel did not require coding. It was a simple "plug n play."
Fantastic video!! What year is your car?
Sergey, thanks for the kind comment. My S3 is a 2015.
Can you please confirm that the wiring kit was noted to work for Audi’s up to 2014? I want to buy this wiring kit but I have a 2017 A3 and I’m uncertain it will work on this newer model. My gut tells me it’s all the same wiring. What do you think?
Hi peter can you make a diy from doorhendels with led,gr jeroen
@ Jeroen, I have explored this option in the past and it's not too difficult of a DIY. I would need to purchase the in handle LEDs.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic hi peter thanks for your quick answer, are these leds also connected to the same pin as the ambilight in the doors? ⁰
@@TheCoupe34 yes, that is correct!

How does this affect my warranty?
It should not impact your warranty as it comes standard with the lighting package.
Hi Peter, Thanks for the great tutorial, just need some further advice, I have already bought the OEM Audi puddle lights, I have a 3 door, and I'm not after the warning light,
Do I follow the same process Code the front puddle lights, wire from the Audi puddle lights direct to that module you described and it should work?
Thanks
Sorry for the late response Yasin. If you have a 3-dr hatch, just follow the coding as I did for the front doors and just the module I described. The lights should work after you cycle the door.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic Hi Peter thanks for your help ! 6 months later I managed to get around to doing it, I had success on the passenger door and it looks great, however on the driver side I did the exact same process and it didn't work, the module on this side does have a lot more wires running to it, I followed the same pin 5 and 16 but no success, any possible advice ?
Yasin, I reviewed the notes I have and it should be pin 16=power while pin 5=ground and nothing else. Make sure you have a solid connection to the OEM spot though. In my installs, a couple of times the ground came loose, thus it didn't work.
@@TheAutomotiveFanatic That you so much for your help, My error came from not programming both doors originally; once I managed to check this it worked perfectly just as your tutorial had shown, Thank you again they look great !
cool!
Hopefully this helped you out.
Hi,
How did you manage to connect the wiring from the RED light to the 32 Pin connector? Did you splice the wires?
Thanks
Jay
No, I didn't splice the wire. I placed it directly inside the 32 pin connector. Take a look @ 4:15 and beyond. I show how to open the connector and feed the wire in.
Does this vcds and connector thing work on vw polo
Rajat, I simply do not know as the Polo is a different chassis.
