    I just like how you are a positive person. Some people would just beat this little wheel up and say if you can't get the best don't even try. You on the other hand remained positive and told the things that were decent about the wheel and the group of people this would work for. In a world so negative we need more people like you!

    I appreciate this video. I am going to splurge for a $900 wheel. I felt your frustration in the beginning of the throw, lol. I have too much Aries in me to tolerate slow products. These $200 wheels are like the tempting chocolate bars near the register.
    With that said, I'm working into intermediate and will be doing this for life. If I was brand new I'd totally get this wheel because you'll just be throwing mugs and bowls (5-7lbs). If someone reading this is wondering if they should try out wearing a Potter's hat, DO IT!! Working with clay is soooo grounding. ❤

    Looks like a great starter wheel! I’ve been hand building on and off for nearly 10 years. Just started my first throwing class recently. This looks like it would be a great option for practicing mugs/bowls then I could give it to my daughter to learn when I upgrade 🤔

    I considered very similar wheels for my first. I've actually brought a stand up treadle wheel that's about thirty years old.
    I had to fix the treadle bar and grease it up and it's been really interesting how different throwing on it is, rather than the electric one I first had a go on. It lives outside too but I'll retreat to the garage in the winter.
    It cost £45 pounds from ebay, heavy as hell and got bags of clay with it too.
    I'll be building or looking out for a cheap kiln soon.

    Would I be able to make pots for plants? Maybe even a Terra Cotta pot? I know you said it can do a 10-12" pot, but I've never done pottery before and have always wanted to try. Would love to make some homemade pots for my garden. TIA and great video!

    Forward 2 years and I picked one up new for 85 euros. What you get for that price is most definitely good value for money for any beginner. After all, it's about 1000 euros cheaper than the first brand name wheel you'll come across and that's a solid chunk of change that shouldn't be overlooked.

    Thanks i really like your frank opinion.
    Also you gave us an idea of who you thought this wheel is good for.
    I'm new ( again ) to throwing, so your opinion was of great value.

    we bought same product, good to know, if girls get more experience can upgrade to faster wheel, but this was great review, exactly as you find in box except he must removed most of foam, its very well double boxed and perfect to learn

    I bought one of these too, when my plate comes into contact with water and clay it releases a bit of black liquid, is this normal? it looks like iron powder that melts

    • @eloisefischer-fortney9107
      @eloisefischer-fortney9107  2 года назад +1

      This is pretty normal actually for all wheels including the high end ones! It’s from the aluminum in the wheel head but it’s harmless. If you want to avoid it, try putting less pressure with your hands against the metal.

      @@eloisefischer-fortney9107 wow, thank you very much you took a weight off me, I thought it was a problem with my wheel, thank you very much, can it cause problems in cooking in your opinion? thank you

    Should these always be used outside or could I work inside? Thanks and great video!

    • @eloisefischer-fortney9107
      @eloisefischer-fortney9107  2 года назад +1

      You can definitely use them inside! I actually wouldn’t store them outside just in case it rains or anything-we just used it outside to make less of a mess inside!

    I received one of these for christmas. The wheel does not stop when the pedal is fully pressed to the off position. The vendor has been contacted but does not respond. Any suggestions?

      They all have a delay to them. Not sure it can be fixed. Comes with the price

    I've got this wheel from Amazon but my belt keeps falling straight off. This is my first wheel and the only potting experience I have is from when I was in high school. I can't find any help on reddit. Do you have any suggestions?

    I just recently did a review video on the same wheel, except I got mine off ebay. Probably the same seller. Have you done any modifications to the wheel? I was considering replacing the motor to get more power and drilling in bat-pin holes.

    I would love to see you do a review on a toy pottery wheel. I can't find to many from an expert. It would be inspirational to se what you could do. Like watching your favorite rock star on a dollar store guitar. Idk I'm just human waste

    When the wheel starts and ends is there a delay from the pedal to the wheel?

    • @eloisefischer-fortney9107
      @eloisefischer-fortney9107  4 года назад +3

      When starting there is no delay! When you stop the pedal, the wheel slowly stops similarly to a brent or any belt-driven wheel, instead of abruptly stopping like a shimpo wheel.

    Have you tried hitting the “Check once monthly” button? I just got this same wheel in the 14” wheel head size and once I clicked that button it stopped working. Any suggestions?

      I don’t have this wheel or any wheel for that matter. But it sounds like possibly a blown fuse.

    • @eloisefischer-fortney9107
      @eloisefischer-fortney9107  3 года назад

      We have not, but it sounds like it might be a fuse issue. You might be able to buy a replacement fuse!

    Hi, I would like to know the power of that wheel....280 W or 350 W ? Thanks for your reply.

  • @sashanealand8315

    its too much clay weight for that tiny wheel. I have the same wheel and I only put about around 5lbs of clay usually

  • @philindeblanc
    @philindeblanc 3 года назад

    So in practice we should be able to spend $350-400 to get a really good wheel. Nice review!

  • @kevinjamiesonbelou

    Wow
    These wheels are garbage.
    Cant hold any weight, maxed out less than 15 lbs?? A good pro wheel holds over 100 lbs.

    • @patrickfoster7859
      @patrickfoster7859 4 года назад +16

      A good pro wheel is also 5x the price and 15lbs is more than enough for those entering the hobby

    • @eloisefischer-fortney9107
      @eloisefischer-fortney9107  4 года назад +5

      Yes that's true, but as someone else said below real pottery wheels cost at least $1000. This is a good alternative for beginners, kids, or people that are only throwing small pieces.

    • @nowirehangers2815
      @nowirehangers2815 4 года назад +12

      Its not a pro wheel.
      Thats the whole point.
