I had my very first pottery lesson a couple of days ago at a pottery place that has a nice cafe too. I’m heading into the second half of my 60s and with great tuition, I actually managed to make a nice little bowl. The young woman teaching me centred the clay for me at first and talked me through each step to make it. I’m so chuffed and she was pleasantly surprised. Then she let me try centring the clay myself. All was going great, then it suddenly went to pieces lol. It’s so much harder to centre it! I ended up with a rather pathetic looking small cream jug sort of thing for my second item but I went for the experience of trying something I’ve wanted to try for such a long time. I now will have a little lathering bowl for my shave I got that I made myself. I live too far away from the pottery place to go there very often but as soon as I can make the space, I will get a wheel of my own. It’s very addictive ha ha. I’ve subbed😁. Loved the cat’s reaction as you slid the box in the door. She/he will be relieved it wasn’t a dog😂😂.
That wheel is a workhorse. You made the right move getting that brent wheel. Been using my brent for over 44 years. It works as well as it did the first day I got it, it was also used when I purchased it. Brent is also first rate if you need support
@@deepot89 I felt the same!! Ended up going with the brent because I felt confident that it will last me forever. I do miss the free turning wheel head on the shimpo though.
Hey! How much was it? How long did it take for shipping? And what are you doing for a kiln?? I’m super interested took classes in high school and pottery and it’s by far my favorite art practice!
I got the Brent model CXC which is around $2,000 but you can find much cheaper ones depending on what you're looking for. Mine was on back order because of covid so it took almost 3 months to ship but I don't think that's normal haha. & I fire all my pots in the studio at my college. You should definitely get back into it & take some more classes or something!!
I hope to God you don't plan on throwing pots in your living room I paused this at near the beginning of the video where you just got it unboxed you will turn that room into a nightmare that can never be cleaned clay does gets up into your upstairs even if you're doing this in the basement mark my words

Can I ship it to the Emirates? And where can I order it?
i got mine today im so excited to start throwing some pots!!!!!
Thanks for the details video! I've been trying to find a video of the Brent to find out the noise level - sounds pretty quiet!
yeah definitely pretty quiet!! I also use a Shimpo VL Whisper and although my Brent makes a little more noise, I don't really notice it.
I'm torn between the quieter whisper bit less torque and the louder but more powerful Brent heh...
