    Nice one, I've no need for a chipper yet but found this really useful for future ideas.

    I have the Hyundai and it works a treat but mostly I chip woody material. What you’re putting through them seems to be mostly leafy stuff and twigs which is not really what a chipper is designed for but is what a shredder is designed for. I use my old Masport mower to run over the green waste and that takes care of it nicely and that avoids clogging the chipper with soft material. There is a significant difference between belt drive (Hyundai and older Hornet) and direct drive machines(new style Hornet): direct drive transfers all judders straight to the engine and that can lead to lots more wear and tear.

      I have been using it for a few months now, it has rattled itself to almost death, they key start no longer works and the exhaust is falling off, thing is I didn't buy it, it belongs to the depot, and they could do with a pro chipper for the amount of work I do there.

      RJC-Services oh wow. Fair enough I guess they needed to buy a more powerful machine. Personally I think the key start is a bit of nonsense fitted to make it look more sophisticated than it needs to be so I’m not surprised if its falling to bits. When I was looking for mine the only difference I could see between the various models was whether or not they were belt or direct drive so I’m sure they all come from the same factory originally. I guess it just boils down to luck which particular machine you end up with. What I did like about Hyundai was the 3 year warranty and that’s why I chose that one. Good luck with getting a machine you like. Cheers

      the two I have work well for what I need, the primo being the better of the two.

    Wow, only blocked mine about 4 times in 4 years, because they strip and block, I would say the blade and anvil gap is to big, a mate of mine had the ( second chipper in vid) and it did the same strip/block, when I had a look for him, it didn't have enough adjustment on the anvil, very poor design, crap, told him to sell it.
    Great video mate 👍

      they no longer sell yours though. if I take the filter out of the eliet primo, I have no problems at all, but it shreds rather than chips. that's why I got the hornet.

    Very thorough video so thanks for that. I’ve owned the Hyundai for a touch over 2 years and I can honestly say it’s a load of guff and my most frustrating tool of all. Stripping it down to clear a blockage is a right pain and the bloody thing blocks constantly. The problem, I eventually worked out, is the gap between the blade and the anvil where it chops is too wide (nearly 4mm) so anything less than that, or which can compress to that, goes through untouched and then sticks in the out shute. On thicker woody stuff it’s fine but even on dead wood in winter the small twigs on a branch just block it constantly. I end up pruning the cuttings before I feed them through which completely destroys the whole idea. I’d never recommend it to anyone but my only honest choice is to scrap the bloody thing because I’d feel a twat offloading it onto some unsuspecting poor bugger. It looks like the Hornet is no better which is a shame because the concept is good but the engineering is just pants. God knows how Jason Gardener survived his for so long or maybe he had one that wasn’t built on a Friday 😂. Anyway, rant over and I appreciate your video comparison which shows it isnt just me who thinks the Hyundai is a dog. Cheers and keep up the good work 👍🏻🍻

      you're right, the Hyundai is now pretty much scrap, I would have expected it to last a bit longer. sorry for the late reply

    The clogging is due to incorrect gap adjustment on the blade open it out, it is a direct drive machine designed primarily for domestic use.
    You need something for greater volume for commercial use, try our larger chipper.
    The Hornet HK65-1 shown is not the same as the Hyundai.
    The hornet is direct drive & Hyundai belt drive.
    Please contact us if you need some help on the Hornet.

      HK65-1 is the first chipper in use (direct drive) £599.99 The secong chipper is the hyundai wish is the same as the hornet HK65E keystart (belt drive) I have tried adjusting the blades, but they shred after a few hours work. as stated they are only budget chippers not comercial chippers. thanx for watching

    nice vid Reas, i'm sure many of us will find this vid very useful. just to add to it i have the one same as jason gardeners i picked up 2nd hand earlier this year but the chute on that clogs loads. so much so i cut out the whole side of the chute tube on the discharge side and it works much better now and rarely clogs. it's been well worth the purchase price i paid. have you tried the mulching blade on your brush cutter yet?

    I have an LTS chipper which looks identical to the hyundai - with basically the same result. I spend more time clearing blockages than chipping........no amount of blade adjustment has ever made even the slightest difference. PLan on something bigger soon - like a CS100

    • @TKG
      @TKG  4 года назад

      to be honest, although not as powerful, the small hornet or primo are ideal for small jobs, or if you don't do many that warrant a chipper.

    • @bchgardenservices
      @bchgardenservices 4 года назад

      @@TKG Thats why I bought the LTS, it fits through a gate, and I thought would do a small job. 15 seconds from new and it was clearly a white elephant. Total waste of £500. Its in bits now, as it just insta-blocks as soon as you use it. Going to try new belts on it see if they are slipping. Contemplating trying to fit a higher horsepower Lifan engine to it see if the extra grunt makes any difference, although realistically I would be better spending the money on a chipper that actually works!! My experience, small chippers are a waste of time and money.

    When chipping put the thickest bit in first so the leaves follow. Works a lot easier. Jason does it in his. First two looked like useless chippers and the eliet looked a bit better but you can’t chip into a wheelie bin. Hope you didn’t pay for them. Need to get one like lees which is under a different name now but brilliant

      I paid for the smaller hornet and eliet primo, the hyundai or larger hornet was paid for by the depot. I do put the thicket part through first, with the primo I mix and match dry and wt, its the wet (green) that blocks the filter.

      I since found out there is a different filter for the promo, specifically for green, an Eliet rep told me at saltex. My next chipper will be the eliet minor probebly.

    Your supposed to put the branches in stock first, not leaves first

    • @TKG
      @TKG  Год назад

      i put leaves first because the chipper ends up clogging with the leaves, I can use what's left of the branch to push the leaves through
