In the sixties I remember going to the Studios with my mom and seeing the Joe Pyne Show. The tickets were free. I remember he limped because he had lost a leg while in The Marines during World War 2. He was a one and only that's for sure. I respected him and his show was always exciting.

I recall the first Joe Pyne radio broadcast in Los Angeles. I used to drive to USC night classes twice a week in the early 1960's. On the way home I listened to a radio call-in show where callers vented their feelings. The moderator said nothing except when the caller's time was up. Then Joe Pyne took over the show and said things were going to be different. I think the second caller was an elderly woman who was suddenly interrupted by Pyne who told her off. That was memorable!

I miss Ray Briem on KIEV 870 and changed to KHJ 870 year 2001.
Missing George Putnam 2:00pm -4:00p. Same station from Glendale Ca. Great radio
"Talk back with George Putnam". Chuck Wilder still does cable radio.

Briem was on KABC 790AM for many years (The Man Who Owned Midnight). From there, to KEIV 870AM, which later became KRLA (870 The Answer).

Interesting video about Joe Pyne. I was 3-6 when he first came on tv between 1965-1969 and Channel 8 in Tulsa was one of the first 24 stations to carry him. I do not remember his show at all because I was too little. Sounds like he was very funny but made the guests very angry all the time.
