Shafer Road to White Rim Trail - Canyonlands National Park

Riding up Shafer Trail from Potash Road to the Islands in the Sky Visitor Center to get a permit to ride the White Rim. This was my first ride ever on any type of elevated switchbacks. I took a little getting used to as the ground where I live is flat, a mountain is 120 ft max above sea level. I am sure you can sense my initial anxiety !

That's some serious ass exposure. Been looking at the WR and would like to one day do something similar. Like you, I'm on flat ground, just above sea level. Would take some time to get comfortable with that.

Yes, you get used to it real fast, just concentrate on looking ahead and not to the side !
