  • AutoCAD Electrical drawings are designed to work within a project as a set of interrelated electrical drawings. The Title Block used on these drawings can be automated making it easier to manage both project and drawing information. Any existing AutoCAD block with attributes can be setup to be used as an AutoCAD Electrical Title Block. AutoCAD Electrical Title Blocks can be setup globally for all projects or as a project specific title block.
    This webcast, Part 2 of the series, highlights the process for working with an Electrical Title Block.

    I like how you placed that field on the outside of your view port, but inside your plot area.

    Hello Rick, thank you for this video. You talk about it is possible to have several title blocks in one drawing ~ 32:00; however, I can see that your extra paper space has the same page number. How can I change the page number and other drawing information for each title block?

    • @Hagerman
      @Hagerman  2 года назад +1

      You can’t. Several title blocks in one drawing for printing purposes not different drawing numbers. The whole purpose of Paper Space is for printing the same drawing to different printers which includes various sizes - thus each paper space layout has a different title block depending on the printer. All title blocks will have the same drawing number and all of this is by design of the software.

    Hello Rick, I might be missing a step here. I made changes title block on one drawing of the project using the block editor(added attribute for rev). I used title block setup and overwritten option 1 of method 1. I can link attributes to line numbers. But the project .wdt file doesn't have line numbers connected to new attributes resulting I cannot update title block.
    secondly, I am also looking for replacing this title block in all drawings of project.

    • @Hagerman
      @Hagerman  10 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure I understand you wire number relationship to a title block, but some of this sounds like you need to overwrite your title block on your drive or in your template with the one that you changed in the drawing in order to access those attributes in the project files. In the drawing you may also need ATTSYNC the title block to get those Attribute Changes to actually take.
      As for all the drawings getting the update you might try the Swap/Update Block Command of Electrical. It was made for Symbols and Footprints but it will work on Title Blocks as well and it does the ATTSYNC for you.

    Dear sir,
    thank you, so much for your reply, i have confusion between template and title block insertion in template, as you explain in the video, tried but its not working for me, really appreciate if you cloud share some video using constomized template making, and tile block making and start with that to add the attributes, for me template and tile block insertion point is not clear, its will really help to understand, once again sir thank you so much for the videos, its really help to understand the software,

      What you are asking is more of an AutoCAD function and the Electrical webinars and articles assume that the users already have a working knowledge of AutoCAD. I would suggest that you search you tube for instructional videos on two subjects.
      1. AutoCAD Creating Blocks with Attributes
      2. AutoCAD Creating a Drawing Template
      If the videos do not cover Inserting a Block with Attributes you may want to find one for that also, but I would imagine the first one would cover that also.

    HI I wanted to know how can we change the search path for WDT file so that I can point my autocad to search a shared network location.

    • @Hagerman
      @Hagerman  4 года назад

      In the AutoCAD Options Support File Search Path add the network location where you are going to put your support files such as the WDT file and wd.env file. Move this to the top of the food chain so that ACE will see this first. Then close AutoCAD Electrical.
      Next set the ACADPATHFIRST in the wd.env file to 1. Most likely all you will need to do for this is remove the “*” at the beginning of the ACADPATHFIRST line. Then move the wd.env file to this same location on the network so that you only have to maintain one wd.env file for everyone. Do not leave a copy on your local computer or Electrical will most likely use the local one instead of the network one.
      Each user’s computer then must be setup with the Support File Search Path on the top, close AutoCAD Electrical, and delete the wd.env from their local computer.

    hi sir, thank you so much for the tutorial its very helpful, appreciate your handwork, i have once question if you could reply me,
    this line description which you have updated to our attributes this default_wdtitle.wdl where to locate , thank you in advance.

    • @Hagerman
      @Hagerman  4 года назад

      Out of the box I do not believe the file exists. They have one in each of the sample projects, but it is named for the sample project and unique for each project which is not the way I use it myself nor in the video.
      You can create one using Notepad though and just name it default_wdtitle - notepad will use a txt file extension so you will need to rename the file to default_wdtitle.wdl after the fact. You need to put the file in the same location as the default.wdt it is related to.

    How can i link all the attribute on the tittle block to be exported to excel?

    • @Hagerman
      @Hagerman  4 года назад

      You can export the Drawing Property information using the Export to Excel function on the Import/Export Tab but the only way to export all attribute information to excel would be to use AutoCAD’s Attribute Extraction function which is not an Electrical function so it will only work one drawing at a time and not on an entire project.
      Another option might be to create a Report that contains all the information you are seeking and write the report to an excel file.

      The lisp routine was not made available to the public, however, it is on the screen for well over a minute and explained. I would suggest taking a screenshot and just retyping it to match your own use. It’s a very small routine and would not take long to enter in. You can use NOTEPAD to create an LSP file.
