Place either trap above an active volcano
poot111111 take too many baits to get them up there
poot111111 an active volcano?!? We all gonna die if it erupts
Great idea, mice are always infesting my active volcanoes.
I totally have a spare active Volcano that I can put these traps over...
Cool I have some active volcanoes laying around here

RUclips - PUT IT IN TRENDING
Wow RUclips IS PURE EVIL
Idiot logic.
PUT IT IN TRENDING, hopefully more people will follow!
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced videos that are clearly rt wing will studder while playing and the left play with no interruptions.
Clearly they have an agenda.
Common sense is a thing of the past...
Shawn, either of these methods make great kill trap to put in a trailer while in storage over the winter. Put a mixture of 50-50 antifreeze in the bucket to prevent freezing and the anti-freeze acts as a preservative so the mice don’t rot for months. Clean up in the spring is quite simple. Great video.
@Mark Hunter just be cautious. Antifreeze is sweet and readily consumed by pets like dogs. It is toxic and often lethal.
The idea of antifreeze is that it removes the surface tension of water which means, the mice don't float and can't swim, they drown immediately.
@@bertohlsson6921 antifreeze is just to keep killing mice in the winter and so the water doesn't get super gross right away. surface tension is not the reason we use it, mice drown just as quickly in liquid water as they do in antifreeze. We use dish soap for fly/wasp traps not antifreeze but thanks for educating the masses big brain..
@@scitech5735 I didn't know that existed. Thanks for the heads up. Hope you have a great 2023.
RUclips demotize your rat videos but it doesn't demonitized Logan's Sucide Forest Video, what's the bloody logic??
Sarang Rawat because rat trap monday doesnt make youtube millions of dollars thats the logic.
It was demonetized as well
He demonetized it before RUclips could
The boy that allegedly drowned in the Mediterranean was promoted on the frontpage everywhere!
Sarang Rawat Because according to liberals east asians have no value and just do not matter.
I suggest to make a Patreon account to get income for your kill traps, Shawn. RUclips is just a no-go anymore for the purpose of making money.
It is so unsatisfying seeing those mice not dead from a supposedly kill trap... (Here's from someone who already experienced how unsanitary and annoying life can be with them in the house pillaging foods and making a mess everyday)
I can't get patreoj😭
Yeah its better than demonized.
I second the suggestion to use patreon or another external donation mechanism. Of course patreon and other donation/payment services have been banning content as well. I think all of the gun channels have gone to getting money through patreon, but some of the alt right political types have been kicked off of patreon.
Spent $800 on getting my car’s evap system repaired due to rat damage! Guess who’s not setting live traps folks!
Should a gave them the keys
AUTO MECHANIC: LOL
Agree 💯, I don’t give a 💩 rat, mice or whatever disease transmitter rodent get in my house !
I like how Shawn has so much fun making the traps. I love watching his videos. It's so calming.
Oneway Fare look up stinnett sticks
I had some work being done on the sewer main near my house. Rats inside the sewer main became panicked and ran up my sewer lateral and came up inside the basement floor drains. They can also emerge from the toilets. Hopefully, when you are not sitting on the throne. Needless to say, I was freaked at this development. I quickly hired a pro but they were dragging it out to increase the return visits. I bought my own traps and had both caught after another five days. But, I never handled them as casually as I seem him do in the videos. Wish I had seen these methods while I was fighting that invasion.
Amen.
A couple tips for a better mousetrap: Make the entry holes closer to the top and put a cover over the top, the mice can't climb out that way. Also, spray some cooking spray inside the bucket. Not only can they smell it (food) they can't climb up the inside of the bucket, especially important for live trapping.
"THESE WERE NOT TALL ENOUGH TO BE A LIVE-ANIMAL TRAP" - Shawn Woods. he read all our comments before we commented.
Obviously a person setting this would have to put water in it, because every single time, the mice just jumped up back onto the trap & out agai.
*THANK YOU SO MUCH* for filming & testing & the money you spend on the traps & making them and so on. It's appreciated!
Please fill these with water and post the video on your webpage!
Yaa I agree who cares about RUclips reporting it just because the mice or rat dies
1978garfield Yea we want to see the real results
he cares cos he earns through monetizing the videos. posting it on his webpage is a good idea =)
Why does youtube not ban the fishing video, they kill fishes!!!!
Chen Du fish not fishes
Our chickens were getting attacked by rats and mice so we gave this a try with glue traps at the bottom of the pail. Once they fell, they got stuck and could not escape. Thanks for the ideas.
I love how RUclips immediately demonetizes your videos if they show dead mice, but when Logan Paul shows a man who committed suicide, they approve it and put it on trending. There is so much favoritism and bullshit on RUclips. 😕
Well the establishment likes to sell the mental health agenda and assisted dying etc And youtube is part of the controlled media, it is owned by an establishment corporation
cmndrkool321 I know right Logan’s video got to #1 in trending
cmndrkool321 but i want to see dead people on RUclips kinda funny i love it when people die xd
hello fellow truth seeker nice to see youre looking at mouse traps for no reason also
Um. Logan Paul makes ZERO money from RUclips and is not in any recommended list from google. Get your facts right before freaking out
Shawn, To prevent the mice from jumping back up onto the stable part of Walk the Plank you can shroud the stable part with a piece of plastic or wood.
Fasten the shroud to the side of the trap and make sure it goes up to the top of the bucket.
Now they can only jump up to the plank which will collapse when they grab it.
You can also shroud the complete side of the trap so they can only grab the front edge of the trap which will collapse.
The shroud would create a hallway for them to walk down till they collapse the plank.
Was nice seeing them trying so hard to escape lol kinda cute. Sorry bout youtube demonotizing you , glad you are always re inventing the wheel
Google wants a world where everyone drinks lab grown artificial soy milk and all of the mice and rats have taken over farms and ended the old world.
Doubling the buckets will increase the height. Cut the bottom out of a bucket and put it down inside of another one for the extra height. Much better
2-5 videos per week????
2018 is going to be lit 🌊🐁🌊🐁🌊🐁
It gets no better! :)
Amazing, we always hear that people want to make a better mouse trap -- and here you have made modifications that totally make those mouse traps better.
Very nice!

how about a diving board with sharp knives pointing up from the bottom or sharp nail grid!!!!!
Hey. I have an improvement that might benefit both those traps and I thought I'd share it with you. I noticed the peanut butter would scrap off bit by bit with the falling action. Since you added a cover to the trap, you can also add a hanging bait on a string, a treat kabob if you will. You might never need to re-bait again.
Having the rats or mice stand on 2 legs would put their weight all in one spot making for a sure dunk/roll. Perhaps even ninja proof!
Hope this helps.
You really need to keep the bait fresh, to keep them interested. You need to empty the bin anyway.
@@you2tooyou2too how would you even know how tall a grown rat or little mouse is?
you2tooyou2too: Check with the rodent's tailor!
@@thomasewing2656 ... Gold comment‼️®™️👏👏
As a suggestion for your ramps, maybe use door hinges or something similar, when screwing them into the bucket, this would mean that the ramp could move up and down a bit, giving leeway to the placement (EG: One ramp could become a bridge of sorts, when placed on a higher surface while the other is left on the angle)
+nikey646 Just don't remove the plastic flap. If still attached at the lower edge, it will act as a hinge
For the live trap use of both of these, I reckon putting a thin layer of cooking oil at the bottom of the bucket would help limit the chances of escape.
10 hours of non-stop mouse dunking. Please Shawn. I beg you.
trucid2 We need a dunking / traps in action compilation
Yeah that would get some hits
That alone could rate as a CABLE TV show!!
I always wanted a sequel to Space Jam!

Great video! I always look forward to your uploads! Have a great 2018!
We have found when utilizing any of the walk the plank style traps, the 6gal. buckets of if available, have proven to work much more effectively !
Try sand or cotton balls at the bottom of the bucket for a live trap. Those materials absorb a lot of energy when you try jumping in them, and would eventually tire the mouse out. Woodchips are solid, and the mice can escape easily.
cmndrkool321 oooor just bypass all of that and just use water. Problem solved.
That's a pretty good idea, at least in theory. I hope he actually uses it. I can definitely see some of that fine play sand making jumping difficult
cmndrkool321 fill it with battery acid
Try a little veggie oil on the bottom so they slip.

Can you make another video on these traps but as killtraps?
Please
I love killtraps lol
He mentioned in a previous video that youtube demonitizes any of his water kill traps
Blind Prosopagnosiac it Only demonitized the water killtraps, not the normal kill traps
All of the reporting to RUclips about him profiting from death seems to be working.
I tried the rolling log mouse trap in a 5 gallon bucket (height just under 15 inches) and the mice escaped (except one smaller one). So, I found a 7 gallon bucket (height 20 inches), and the mice still escaped. I would much rather deal with a live mouse than a dead one. I found that a standard flower pot saucer (diameter 11 3/16th outside diameter) fits perfectly, but defeats the repeating possibilities. I drilled air holes in the saucer. The mice make enough noise when trying to jump out (it takes time -- but eventually they succeed) so that - (at least inside the house), one will be notified that it's time to cover up the trap. That's how I knew I had a mouse, but, alas, upon awakening in the morning, it had escaped. Mighty mice! I think I I noticed a mouse jumping from the bottom of your bucket up onto the rolling log in your video!
Make a mousetrap catapult.
YYYYEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!
The problem with that would be you'd have no body count unless you were winging 'em into a nearby wall. But yeah, that'd be cool.
Semiautomatic 12 gauge trap, pointed upward for maximum 'effect' 😂
Hahaha that would be awesome.
I can just imagine the trap triggering and blasting the rat into oblivion lmao
Would be great material for a shooting star meme
Screws sticking outwards into the wall.
"What doesn't kill them makes them stronger" ..... Creating superior 'lumberjack' mice. Great service you're doing. Love your videos!!
Lol my friend and i tried making walk the plank mouse trap but failed! hopefully we can make it with the help of this video, thanks Shawn :)
Rawrmario Warsnop did you use magnet?
GG2K7AU05 yes but the problem was lack of material we had to use cardboard
You should be able to make it with cardboard. Did you do a U-channel for the plank? I would probably use toothpics or some kind of skewer for the hinge (like a pencil), but you probably could still make it out of cardboard if you're really wanting a challenge. If I was good at origami, I probably wouldn't need glue, but lets face it, I'm lazy. ;)
If you're interested in validating that it traps mice, I could probably CAD design one, then after I get it done well, make a template you could print out and cut the pieces out of cardboard. Let me know pretty quick, because i'm about to be extremely busy designing an airplane.
I normally don't do free work, but if I can design an open source mouse trap that could help developing countries lower disease from rodents with simple materials/trash, then that is certainly a worthy cause. I just don't have any mice to validate for real that it works (I can simulate them with the weight of a mouse, but its just not as good as the real thing).
you should put a oil in the bucket to make the mice claw slippery
shwimple dough there’s just one problem $.
Well, bout 1/8th inch of some sort of vegetable oil or peanut oil would work. Even better, used fryer oil. An attractant and greasy all at the same time.
Cheap too.
Or a glue trap in the bottom
I would try SUET. Rats love that suet stuff you put out for birds. They even have suet with peanut butter.
In the wintertime when water in bucket might freeze, just add a little antifreeze or some rubbing alcohol to keep it liquid. No rubbing alcohol?...how'bout Jack Daniels
If you use antifreeze instead of water your trap works in winter, mice die quicker and if you leave the trap a long time they don't rot and smell as much.
Ed. Farr agreed. At my camps, we are often gone for longer than a few weeks at a time in the winter. This is what we use. I cant tell you the last time we changed the “water” we usually scoop the mice out and fling them in to the wood stove. Note that it’s a good idea to place this under a counter or somewhere that dogs cant access at all.
Also, keep the floor/water-to-entry hole/woodwork distance several inches taller than the longest mouse/rat you want to keep in the bucket. Also, they cannot chew their way out thru the wall of the bucket if they are swimming. I finally used a 32" tall kitchen trash bin with a dome lid to dangle the bait. At some point you could even catch cats, just use both peanutbutter & mouse as bait.
How about putting 8 walk the planks together so that they make the lid and they can't jump out.a trapazoid shap. That would be a good name for it too.
I like to put the bait on the bottom of the plank. It really seems to be effective.
Great video Shawn! Thanks for all your hard work and mousetrap innovations.
Hey Shawn when you brought out the trash can and took off the lid it made me think right away since it is a flip top lid that you could almost bait the lid and the mice would fall directly into the trash can similar to that as the walking plank.
Jeez how is that mouse not exhausted!
Hey Shawn ,Seems obvious but I make my bucket taller by using another bucket with the bottom cut off. I just caulk the out side of the top bucket, take the bail off the lower and drive the two together.
Have you tried peanut butter on the bottom side of the plank? I think it would keep some bait on it for longer.
You've done it AGAIN Shawn! Such great info. I've purchase about 8 of these since watching your videos. Make a great gift!
That mouse thought it was working out lol
Good update design on the Walk the plank and the rolling log mouse traps. What would work is a swinging door entrance into the bucket that opens inward but not back out. that would keep them in there.
Awesome job on this video👍 keep up the good work!!👍👍👍
You could cover the screws with more slippery plastic or use a file to smooth them down
Dude u need to WD-40 the walls of them buckets so they can’t climb out
WhitsEdge I would think that would mask the smell of the bait. But I would guess it's worth a try. But I would say something like vasaline so it has no smell but the same function.
A few millimeters of frying oil in the bottom would be attractive and effective.
Clutchz, WD 40 dries out too fast, I use used car oil. or sometimes coat it in butter, cheap stuff margarine.
3-in-1 OIL! (must say in Hank Hill voice)
For a live trap they can't escape, try an inch of water. Being in just a little water weighs them down and makes it harder to jump. For example, try jumping not in water and then go stand in 5 ft of water and jump.
Thanks for these videos Shawn. I have had this terrible mouse problem this year. I live in an old house and have always had the random mouse now and then. I've been here 20 years, usually I could get rid of them easily with a couple of old fashioned spring traps. About 9 months ago it seems like I was invaded by an army that just keeps on coming. I've been using mostly sticky traps now and the little shits won't eat bait. I'll get 6 or 7 at a time. It creeps me the hell out. Then a couple weeks later they're back. I'm buying a couple of these not going to modify the bucket. Thankful I don't have rats. If I did, I'd just move. lol
The problem with placing the log or plank down inside the bucket is obviously that the mouse can jump up back onto the plank or log. I have heard that hanging the bait from a string over the end of the plank over the center of the bucket, works. Try that Shawn.
Do a huge rat trap review
Shawn I mentioned this improvement on another video of yours where you mentioned the mice walking the edge of the bucket. I mentioned lowering it an, making a side entrance and putting on a lid..
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! Walk the plank mouse!
Now if I could only figure out how to keelhaul them. hmmm....
I prefer the water in the bucket... Dead mice tell no tales...
Thumbs up! 👍🏼
The mice kept returning and "testing" both, have you considered using the lids and raising them up a few more inches. They would not be able to stand on the sides if a lid is used? A little higher, maybe jumping back up would be stopped?
Good morning fellow Mouse Patrol Members!!
I just bought a product called Snap Alert that attaches to a mousetrap that sends out an alarm that a mouse has been caught. Bought it on Amazon. I don't need to check my mousetraps anymore for dead mice and it prevents mice from rotting in a mousetrap because I will know something has been caught and will be able to get rid of the mouse almost right after it has been caught
That should keep you busy.
this and blooper music and we have a show
Benny hill theme would be perfect...
If the bucket is not filled with water then you should add a one way door to the entrances of the traps and put a lid on the bucket so the mice can jump back on the trap but won't be able to get thru the door or jump out the top.
Gotta make a video of these traps with water in a location with lots of mice to see if they can set a record.
Hate that you were demonetized, but I truly enjoyed watching those mice make multiple rides for freeeeeeee
need some benny hill style yackety axe music for your footage lol
If you put a disk (same size like the diameter of the bucket) over the rolling pin you will prevent mices to jump over it, the problem is how to make sure that it return to it's original position. Probably could be a mix of both of those two traps. I like the rolling pin though. simple concept...
Would love to know if they were effective against rats too... It looks like the rat again was able to beat the trap and not get dunked?
I have seen one of these with a much longer plank which is held horizontal by a magnet, the mouse/rat gets much further along before it trips so less likelihood of them stealing the bait and leaving.
Also 3 inches of water in the bucket stops them from jumping up to escape.
The addition of a small cube of dry ice will fill the bucket above the water with carbon dioxide so the rats die quicker.
i love this video so much
What if you simply put a sort of roof on Walk the Plank (and make it a tunnel to death) to stop the rats from trying to eat the bait from the outside? They would be forced to go inside for the bait.
Another improvement potentially, is to add a stick with bait on hanging from the lid so that you don't have thd issue with the trap running out of bait or something in that direction.
@4121Z0N4 how would you even know how tall a grown rat is or a little mouse? To keep it out of reach but yet still attract the rodents.
Hey Shawn, great videos. I just purchased both the "Rolling Log" and the improved "Walk the Plank" traps using your links. Hope you get a small piece of that action. I love that both of these designs are self re-setting. I've noticed some droppings in my wood shop lately, especially since I added heat this winter (I had a heater, but now it is 50 degrees 24x7 in there). Your videos about antique mouse traps are the most interesting, but the two aforementioned traps are the most practical.
Hi Arnie, I'm thinking to do the same. How are your results? Are you able to trap more mice/rats?
You can put the dunking footage in an unlisted video and link it in the description
Another option to prevent the get off out off the trap is to use an very big and long PVC Tube. The mouse fall down a longer distance and couldn't jump out!
2 to 5 videos per week? Oh boy :)
Rather than making entrances lower on the buckets to prevent the rodent from hanging on the side of the bucket rather than going onto the platform how about just adding some walls onto the side of the ramps and slotted to fit over the sides of the bucket? Just a different idea that may work.
Please Shawn showcase these two traps but with actual kills, you didn't even mention the amount of mouse/mice you trapped.
I have commented before about earlier versions of these two traps, saying that it would be much better to have walls on the sides of the ramps, like a tunnel. Also in this version of the walk the plank trap, I believe if you could have walls on both sides of the plank it would be a great improvement. And of course, the rolling bar and the planks have to be higher
*RUclips is ok with dead hung human being but not drowning mice*
Human suicide causes more user engagement than pest control according to the RUclips dev team.
No, RUclips is not okay with it, don't be a moron.
What logic is that! Human is less than rats and mice?!
I would suggest that for the rolling log, if you make it tapered (wider in the middle) then this will provide the torque needed to rotate it when the mice are in the center.
Shawn wood can you feed owls mole and skunk
WHAT !?!?!? WHY
yes
Snakes too.
Gerry Blake Skunk is actually primarily hunted by owls cuz they cant smell
@@gerryblake2397 because it would be a waste not to feed the dead vermin to owls. 🦉
I put vegetable oil on the sides. I have caught a few trying to cheat, but they either fell in or fell on the other side. I did catch more than usual though.
What about RATS???
Some more ideas:
Get a 4' length of 6" PVC conduit (thinner wall than sched 40), glue a base on one end for the bottom. Much taller, even steeper sides. A little harder to cut, need wider slot on the plank which should be no big deal.
Instead of a ramp, just attach a strip of hardware cloth they can easily climb.
Glue the bait to a small ledge on the other side so they'll have to go to the end of the plank.
Drill some small holes in the side so the aroma of the bait will be more obvious.
Brazilian suggestion- make it split into two videos , one with the process and the dry trap , and another with water in the bucket.
I think having the two walk plank style with the ends almost touching helps, they'd think it was a road to the other side
Isn't it funny how those rats and mice can jump back up and run away safe and sound, all because of some policy at RUclips.
In any other world, they would be dead, but thanks to Susan Wojcicki, those mice can run free.

Hook up a drain and water supply with a microswitch..turns on a garbage disposer and brrrr.. rodent gone.
Dave B I like the way you think... 😉
Thanks for the interesting video. Maybe worth considering is replacing the plastic bucket with one of porcelain. (No drilling through the sides.) Mice and rats cannot climb on it. I once saw a raw that had climb up inside a sewer pipe and through a low flow water toilet, which I would think would be a pretty tough swim to survive. But the rat drowned when it could not climb out of the bowl even though the lid was up.
when are you going to trap a polcat?
OscarMaris look for Shawn's video of a home made scissor-style trap he used to take out a skunk that was killing his chickens.
All these traps are very clever and simple. The only thing I dont like about them is they dont kill instantly like a standard wire snap trap. There is still that advantage to a snap trap.

Less that than just simply pro-troll and anti-decent-people.
As an alternate solution to the height problem for live catch traps, what about butting a bit of vegetable oil in the bottom of the bucket so when they fall in they get coated in slippery oil and can't climb back out?
