  • This video is in response to viewers who ask about glazing greenware or unfired clay. I decided to do both a firing of greenware and bisque using cone 06 glaze on both pieces and firing in not only in a regular kiln, but also my microwave kiln. I hope you find the results interesting and informative. Thanks for watching. As usual, if you have question, please ask!

First of all thank you for all your informative videos! As a newbie I’ve been scrolling the net for advice and when it comes to firing some people doesn’t set intervals (3+3+3 mins for example), instead they set the timer for 30 mins straight away. So my question is what is the difference between the two ways of firing? Thank you again!

I do it to keep up with the heating process. After awhile you can tell hot hot the piece is by the color of the glow. also sometimes something will happen to the glass or ceramic and you dont know it, such as cracking and busting. If yo catch it in time is will save you trouble.

Green ware is the molded glay after it has dried but before it is fired to bisque.
