I think Strummer's reference to Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Freddie Mercury and Springsteen at the beginning of the song is his way of saying, "We have arrived."
I always loved this song. In 2014 I went to an art exhibition and it had an installation called "Gun Cabinet" with Spanish Bombs playing non-stop inside the cabinet, it was so cool and I'll never forget. I wish I had write down/could find the artist name, being that at the time we didn't had good cellphone cameras to register the installation or stl, but it is nice to have this memory in my mind, just for me
I didn’t take Strummer’s comments before the song, naming each of his band mates as mega rock stars, as an insult to the mega rock stars...people are misunderstanding the context of Joe’s comment. It’s more of a, you too can stand in front of 30k people and perform, write timeless classics as Spanish Bombs and most importantly influence the world with a positive message through your creative outlet. Some still won’t get it and that’s why The Clash will always be the only band that mattered. RIP Joe Strummer
Funny how this song predates the Pixies but could fit easily on the track list of any Pixies album. Even the blending of English and Spanish in lyrics is so fitting. I can't help but think this song had an influence, consciously or subconsciously; on Black Francis and the music of the Pixies.
What was the dig at Freddie Mercury? I couldn't see what Joe was pointing at. If it was his arse, then all my fucking respect for him has gone right out the window. If not, business as usual.
I hated them: always had bad words for other artists who were 1000 times more talented than they were, they're listing them all in this video. They started this STUPID attitude to act like 'posses', 'ghettos', 'feuds' that is now so stupidly spread. Music's not 'the jungle', it is not about 'belonging to tribes'...
Yeah but its not like he had a lot of money either to get better gear or amps and what not what they had was whay they had. They never bragged about being rich they were inspired by other artists. And it sounds great if you really listen just cause it doesnt sound like the studio recording doesn't mean anything. Most artist these day have auto tune or other things to sound perfect that's what made these guys and others better then others they just went with it. Sure they could sound better but its not like they needed to.
Freddie MErcury is dead and gone, but everybody rememebers him, and nobody remembers the name of this guy,,,, nice song but the message in the beginning is just ridiculuos...
Joe Strummer yo te quiero infinito, yo te quiero, oh mi corazón...
Jacinta, también te amé con tu comentario ;)
Jacinta Montecinos creo que dice: yo te quiero y finito.
Capo en serio.

Definitely one of my favourite songs by the clash. And done very well live too!
What a band....brilliant times, you just can't imagine, unless you were there
Gran homenaje a esas personas que dieron su vida por la libertad y la democracia. ❤️ 💛 💜
Spanish words in British accent. I ALWAYS loved them... MY heroes!!! LOVE them.... Miss them...
Great performance of this great song! RIP Joe Strummer ✊🏼
Strummer later wrote a letter about his admiration of Springsteen, so he either was joking or only appreciated the Boss as he got older

RIP Joe. You were a hero.
The dig at Freddie Mercury ? He could have chosen anybody or anything else, just for the sake of firing up something...
Spanish bombs yo te quiero al infinito, yo te cuera con mi corazón... Great song!!
Is this at Bonds? I saw two of those shows
Asbury Park, NJ 1982. Premiere of Combat Rock

+Worst Hum
queen sucks
+Worst Hum He was pointing at the ground, indicating Freddie Mercury was standing in front of the mic as a joke.
No need to get so damn worked up.
I think it's stupid to mock Springsteen before the song. What's the point unless you're not sur of your own talent...
Strummer was influenced by `The Boss` he was at the Hammy Odeon gig in 1975
