Charging people to drive on roads that they are already paying to maintain via taxes should be a crime

@@shalonsmith3653 and they’ve always been a crime. We also pay for research and development for new life saving drugs and then we’re forced to pay to use them.
Another reason to stop giving NYPD military like budgets from tax payers especially if they’re calling in the national guard anyway.
The idea is to get more people out of cars.
@@TheRenegadeStarr Just stop paying taxes then. No free college, no free healthcare.
Maybe if New York actually charged the people they arrest and held them accountable, crime in New York would be way down and people wouldn’t mind taking the subway again.

Whoopi is only upset cause her motorcade is inconvenienced lmaoo. not everyone has a motorcade, whoop. NYC’s public transit is supreme
Drivers get so mad when lose *one* car lane for a bike lane 😂
Love how theyre "long guns" when govt agents have them, but "assault weapons" when theyre sitting in my safe.
Does Whoopi want the streets filled with cars? Road infrastructure is costly and we should incentivize people taking public transit. Bike lanes provide a greener way of travel for a lot of people, Whoopi. New York isnt the 1970s car centric city anymore. It is becoming easier day by day to be able to live in New York without a car and other cities should take notes, in my opinion.
America was supposed to made up of a series of self sustaining walkable communities. For some reason, everybody became obsessed with transportation and built all these roads and highways. New York has had a subway since 1904, so I don't get the 1970s reference cause there always been traffic problems.
@@billybarnett2846 Well back then they used to demolish buildings to build more parking. I bet they do that even today but that was when all this damage was happening . It's ironic that we have space for car parking but no space to build more housing, which results in more homelessness and crime.
The entitlement of drivers was ringing true in her argument. They cry about losing one driving lane to cyclists as if the public roads should be entirely catered to what they would prefer. Especially considering studies have shown that dedicated bike lanes actually improve traffic for drivers
@@billybarnett2846Exactly, I love that some cities around the world are experimenting with the concept of “SuperBlocks” in their infrastructure and city planning
That's why NY sucks that don't listen to the ppl
The contrast between rail in japan, europe and ours is massive, we dont value people and life.
I take the subway everyday and WHERE ARE THE POLICE ON THE SUBWAY???
Whoopi has some real weird takes sometimes. Less bike lanes? What? Disincentivizing the use of cars is a good thing, making the subway safer, having bike lanes and yes, making people pay to use the streets are all good policies. They should also consider making parts of fifth avenue pedestrian zones and banning cars entirely.
I have told everyone that Karin Whoppi has shown severe mental decline; on the same level as donald. Partly due to laziness and not exercising her brain and smoking dope. lol.
Ive never seen someone so out of touch with reality.
That’s why there’s such an effort to make cities that are more walkable. It requires lots of citizen input because city officials will never see what works on their own. 👍🏾
Leave Whoopi alone!! She deserves to use her car after her immense contributions to the arts!! Respect, please!
I completely agree. These roads were never laid out with cars in mind. The idea that somehow a car deserves priority to the road over a bike is ludicrous. And I have great respect for Whoopi.

Bike Lanes?! Yes, that's happening in Atlanta!
dana t.
Studies have shown that bike lanes actually improve traffic times for drivers
Even if they didn’t, the entitlement of drivers who complain about losing *one* driving lane for a bike lane that services people other than them is always surprising
@Tortilla.Reform
I don't know about the studies, but this is becoming nerve-wracking, especially since no one uses the bike lanes in this part of atl.
@@danaterrell3099 To be fair, your nerves being wracked isn’t as relevant as hard data or the overall benefit to society they provide. Catering only to drivers isn’t helpful either
Edit: also, in my experience, cyclists *have* to not use the bike lane when people park in the bike lane or the bike lane was placed on poorly developed and unsafe infrastructure. Also, bike lanes are usually directly next to parked cars or idle uber/lyft cars during a pickup or dropoff, and people swing their car doors open without looking into the bike lane, so I understand a cyclist avoiding those bike lanes to stay safe
Excellent points Whoopie! Absolute money grab for an organization that can't manage funds.
This lady is WORKING. Thank you
For who? The migrants? Differently not you.... Are you a migrate?
I adore governor Hochul! VERY smar, t good hearted lady! Keep the bike lanes.
I may be incorrect but was there a time in most cities that all trucks, trains and the transfer of goods happened on the back streets of the stores and only the consumers were able to walk on the streets that was in the front of the stores?
A stronger police presence in the subways can make somewhat of a change. We did that here in LA and it does help to a degree.
The problem in LA is in part police presence due to low staffing and recruitment... but the much bigger problem is District Attorney George Gascón who gave criminals the green light to go out and reoffend at will... Thank you LA for illustrating that elections really do have consequences.
Its unreal how anyone can like or vote for these people.
I make slightly more than 60k here in NYC and I could not afford the bridge toll plus the toll to go past 59th. This would stop me from buying Broadway tickets, going to restaurants, and buying some necessities. This is going to be horrible for working New Yorkers!
