My grandparents’ neighbor has a house there and she said the security is awful. There was an article in the paper I remember reading that said that the locals and people in Ocean City and Bethany didn’t want him to come because of all of the security lockdowns and stuff but I understand it’s for their protection

In 2014, the Obama administration was faced with a surge in unaccompanied minors from Central America showing up at our border and seeking asylum. In an effort to reduce the number of kids moving across Mexico, it created a program to let them apply for asylum in their home countries. This helped in easing the crush.
THEN, Donald Trump became president and acted on his twin beliefs: Anything that Barack Obama did was bad, and anything that helped foreigners was worse. He killed the program, and soon the number of Central American kids crossing over began to grow. THIS is the cause of the border crisis.
So what you are seeing NOW, is the effect of Trump's decisions 2 years ago. We will see what effects Biden's policies will have down at the border around 2022.-
