It's about time we all acknowledge that commercial flight is really air freight and all the super sized people out there are a literal burden on our society (I can say this as a Canadian who's tax dollars go to funding our "free healthcare") as obesitys body count far outstrips everything else cars, cigarettes ANY drug and waaaaaay beyond the body count of active shooters. Not only do the obese die more, but they cost more to do it with their high blood pressure, diabetes and any number of related issues. They are contributing the most too environmental impact, as everyone has to work that little bit harder or pay more to support them. Charging for flights based on total weight and charging accordingly is only fair. I spend a lot of money and energy eating right and working out to keep my body healthy. Why should I get penalized through gross ticket sales? I travel light because I hate waiting in airports, so I don't take extra bags. But the pound cake inhaling fat body with 3 suitcases got charged the same? I'm calling foul.
Love how people were saying that she should have paid for first class seating to avoid being crushed. Like what? The fact that people are acting like she was in the wrong at all is just ridiculous to me.
Quite the opposite actually: The other two should have paid for first class to have more room around them because unlike her, they don't fit into the seats and they probably sit uncomfortably squished with their legs to the seat in front of them.
If you're flying by yourself and you choose the middle seat, you're not even gonna know who the other two people are and what they look like. I'm also unsure if you can just pay for first class when you're already on the plane.
Think about what message it sends: Plebs are to be stuffed on plane like cargo. I am surprised that people still have so much head room and they are not stuffing people sideways on top of each other.
Yep. She fits in the seat that was provided. It's the people on either side of her who didn't and should need to change their behaviour. I'm 6'2" and I try and get an exit seat or aisle row so I don't have to put my legs into someone else's space. Because that would be rude and inconsiderate. Flying already sucks and I'm going to be uncomfortable, but I don't need to make it worse on the other person.
This woman was made uncomfortable by complete strangers invading her space, and yet SHE'S the one to blame? I must be at the circus with the amount of acrobatics going on there.

She asked to be moved to a different seat at the start of the flight, but there was not anything available, and no one in that whole flight was not willing to swap seats with her, I bet no body positivity candidates did not want that seat of hers either, and that tells something how genuine those people are..ugh.
Why should the company give extra space to fat when they pay the same amount? Americans need to understand the concept of responsibility which the rest of humanity knows. Both pax and cargo are freight. If a pax take up more space they need to pay for it not the airline, because that makes everyone's tickets more expensive in order to pay for fatties.
In my latest university class the professor said the more passengers they can fit into the plane the better its CO2 value gets and they make more money, because it is all calculated per passenger. They aren't interessted at all in having people enough space, only if they can charge more. Let's be honest, there wouldn't be a problem at all, if the seats were wider. The skinny people wouldn't complain about a wider seat. Same goes for the little space to the front row. I don't think taller people or fat people or muscular people should have to pay extra. Some small amount of special seats would do the job. Of course that would rage some people, that they still have to sit in those uncomfortable seats.
@@snipingcat137 Tbh airplane seats should just be larger. I don’t know anyone who thinks those damn seats have enough room lol. But because the airlines would lose money, it’ll probably never happen.
What freaks me out the most about this incident is that the two overweight people were brother and sister. Normally, family members book seats next to each other. The fact that they left one seat between them empty shows that they were fully aware of what they were doing. They knew sitting next to each other would be extremely uncomfortable for them, so they forced a stranger to bear with it. This was pure calculation. Yet everybody tries to make Sydney the bad guy. I don’t like her or her content, but that shouldn’t be of any relevance in this case.
I am a fat person. Those obese siblings chose to buy seats separated and KNEW that someone would be stuck between them in the middle. It's not fair to pay for a seat and only be able to sit in half of it. That was severely inconsiderate of those jerks.
Yet if your suitcase is one pound over you get charged $100. I can’t believe how many people were criticizing Watson. Apparently it’s ok to rub up on a woman without her consent if you really love pudding.

I’m claustrophobic so her seat would make me have a panic attack. I’m sure most of the people complaining about her tweets would also be upset if they were forced to be uncomfortable on a flight. Can we go back to the days where we didn’t coddle every single person after their kicking and screaming?
Not 100% on her side because of how she dealt with the problem through making a public joke of it. Agree, she was entitled to a full seat and that her seat neighbors were a bit thoughtless, but disagree that she make a big click bait show of it. She should keep her focus on holding the airline accountable if they were made aware of the situation and still refused to correct it. But she seemed more focused on garnering public attention and even laughs than on solving the problem. I don’t at all support that approach.
What makes a morbidly obese person's comfort more important than anyone else's? It honestly blows my mind. I would have been livid too if I was in Sydney's position!

Sue? Bwhahaha! Frontier Airlines told me that even thought the guy in the middle seat was taking up half of mine, either put up or get off (full flight). I sat sideways for takeoff and landing and spent the rest of the flight standing in the back galley with the flight attendants.

Me too. In fact I was in the exact same situation on United airline. Squished between a couple, husband and wife. I also asked whether we should switch seats and the husband went nah we are fine. I suspected they wanted me there so it’s easier for them to spill into my seat as compared to them sitting side by side. Fortunately I’m better off then Sydney because I’m petite being 4ft11 so my flight was still manageable but that’s because I’m little-size.
The airlines actually did recompensate her, but they sent her a letter in private and apologized saying they understood where she was coming from. You were spot on. The airlines were too chicken to speak out against the fat passengers.
The fact that the two people refused to switch seats is pretty telling as well. They were just fine causing someone else discomfort, when they could have at easily tried to minimize the issue. I also love that everyone conveniently ignored that Sydney called herself a sardine, the tweets were obviously meant to be funny.
One can't expect a person who's putting themselves through that level of discomfort, existing in that obese body every day, to have empathy for or understand that some people aren't and don't want to be subjected to that much or that specific kind of discomfort; hence: it's only logical they behaved towards her the way they did.
I'd literally break down if I was in her place, since pressure at all on me causes pain. Then also just the fact I'd start panicking being near let alone AGAINST, 2 strangers?!? Like no ma'am!
@@mysticalkitty8844 Right? I would have made a big deal out of it. I absolutely will not tolerate strangers touching me. Let alone for a whole plane ride!
Fat people are the most selfish people you can find out there. Anyone living with one and the liberty to discuss it freely will tell you, their body isn't the only victim. People don't get that being fat is never a unique trait, if someone doesn't have the willpower to not eat themselves to death, imagine the rest of their life... Cleaning the house? Working? Fat people only exist if they can prop their lifestyle up by keeping someone else's head underwater. In short, fat people are fat leeches. Their fatness is just the visible part of what they are, they're actually much worse than what you can see on the large surface. Behind every fat person, there is at least one victim, paying full price.
I remember years ago when a thin woman was literally pulled from her flight so an overweight teenager could have 2 seats. Pay for 2 seats if you need 2 seats! You have to if you have a small baby you could hold in your lap!
I love how the argument is that She should buy first class. Why is it everyone else’s responsibility to work around fat people. Why don’t they buy first class? Or another seat, since they are the ones who can’t fit. What if the thin person had a disability, would it matter. And why am I paying for extra baggage. Next time I’ll just keep my bag on my lap and ask for a seatbelt extender, who cares about the people around me 🙄.
The way that airline jumped on the opportunity to virtue-signal. Sure, your passengers come in all shapes and sizes - but your seats don’t. If I pay for one whole seat, I want 100% of that seat and I’ll strategically fight for my fair share of time with the armrest. ⚔️
and it's not like the airlines would be willing to take a hit on their profit to ensure the variety of their customer's shapes are accounted for, so why should we, the paying customers?
@@dpat1842 they wouldn't be taking the hit, we would. I, for one will not be paying higher airfare because some people are both too far to fly and too cheap to buy the amount of seats that much ass requires. If fat people won't buy two seats now, they certainly won't pay extra for an extra large seat. If all the seats are made extra large then the planes carrying capacity is reduced and everyone pays higher fares to make up for the missing passengers. Either way they socialize the cost of their choices while reaping all the benefits. Nope nothing doing for me.
A 350 lb woman wasn't allowed to take a helicopter tour because she was over the 300 lb limit. This happened to me, I was on a flight and I was sitting next to a very obese women. I am a guy who is into working out so I have pretty broad shoulders. I ended up writing a comment on my phone saying the following, "hey, sorry to bother you, unfortunately I am quite uncomfortable on this flight because of lack of room. If you have a seat available somewhere, can you come back in 15 mins and say there's a seat available near my family, thanks" I showed this note to the flight attendant. She did exactly what I wrote, gave me a fist bump and upgrade me to business class.
Yes that’s exactly what she should have done ! And if there were no other seats then they would have had to deal with it according to the policy that she mentioned.
@@StephanieCabriales she said the seat was bought to her and was the ONLY seat available, no one wanted to change seats with her, they even ask some parents if their children's could change seats with her and they say no c:
@@bitterbunn1831 it would have been a partial solution if she was able to get the flight attendant make the obese passenger that sat on the aisle side switch their seat with Sidney, so at least she could lean towards the empty space in the aisle corridor (not that that is what we're trying to ultimately achieve her, but...). Given this is not only being a preference issue but, as written in the airlines policy statement it's more importantly a safety issue, the obese passenger would have to switch seats after being asked by the flight attendant, because f.a.'s have that level of authority on the plane (speaking from experience as a former flight attendant of 3yrs).
Thank you for talking about this. I flew a lot in the past, and it wasn't uncommon for me to have someone spilling into my seat. It was a whole new tier of anxiety the time I almost had to sit for 8 hours between two morbidly obese people. The flight attendant saw the stress in my eyes, said it wasn't safe (which is true), and escorted me to an empty aisle seat. Bless that lady for relocating me and announcing that it wasn't a safe situation. The following month my best friend was steamed because had to pay a colossal fee for his luggage being one pound over the limit, but the morbidly obese person beside him didn't have to pay for two seats. My cousin pays to fly business because he's tall and he needs the leg room, else there's a greater risk of blood clots. He can't control being tall. American Faillines needs to get someone to manage their Twitter who can behave like they represent a business, and not some backhanded jerk who is more interested in likes and clout.
Man, you got lucky with that flight attendant. I remember being 16 on my flight to NYC and sitting between a really heavy man and the window. It was almost impossible to go the bathroom so, after the first trip, I decided to hold it but got bad cramps as a result.
My mother taught me that “I’m sorry you feel that way.” Is not an apology. If a single woman in small town, middle of nowhere in New England, knows this, why doesn’t a a major corporation with a PR team?
I love how Sydney ended her video. She said she doesn't apologize. That The movement is all about "consent" And that she didn't consent to strangers, touching, and sweating on her. I wouldn't either. FYI, I'm fat, and don't want anyone around me te be uncomfortable, because I'm descent, and wouldn't want others to make me uncomfortable either.
The irony is that Sydney is outspokenly anti-feminist and hates the MeToo movement. But NOW she understands consent? Like, the situation on that airplane was unpleasant, of course. But I can see why people drag her hypocritical ass.
@@TheYasmineFlower Regardless her views and ideology, which has nothing to do with me, her statements in THIS video resonated with me because I experienced it. The whole point is you are a decent person. You would not make her feel uncomfortable. The ppl here preyed upon her. For the tickets. If it was you, you wouldnt be a dick and she'd probably talk with you and be happy to.
Especially in this case, where all they would have to do is buy the one extra seat between them, not an extra seat each. They knew the problem but decided it was fine to take someone else's space so they wouldn't have to pay any extra for the space they were taking up. They didn't care about the comfort of the person between them, regardless of the size of that person.
I hate being touched and have sensory issues so I would freak out from having to touch two people for an entire flight. I can barely stand hugging someone with both arms let alone having two stranger's arms on me the entire flight.
Right like I would definitely silently cry cause I would still feel bad if I hurt their feelings but they had a chance to switch which would have made it slightly better
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the people squishing her did it on purpose. She asked to switch but they said no they fly together all the time like that. They purposely sat a seat apart to either get a free seat between them or make someone else uncomfortable…
Why would they do that tho why would any two people want to make someone uncomfortable just for the sake of it unless they’re sadistic fucks. They wouldn’t so maybe they didn’t pay for the third seat because they didn’t have the funds or embarrassed there are many other reasons.
That’s sociopathic and spoiled. They seem entitled. One would be if you had the means to eat that much food. I had a $10 / week food budget in college and quickly lost the freshmen 15. The whole time I wondered who the hell is rich enough to gain weight in college?
I'm 100% on Sydney's side in this. This happened to me many years ago on a flight. There was a couple who were flying together who were separated by the airline, one next to me, and one in another part of the plane. Me being the nice guy I am offered my seat so they could sit together. Then right before the flight began a huge woman (400 lbs. at least) sat down next to me and squished me for the duration of the flight. At that point the flight was full and there was no alternative seat for me. I know exactly what she felt like, and this was many years ago well before the so-called fat positive moment. It was so awful, I still remember it 10 years later.
I heard a lot of stories like this and thought they were exaggerated until it happened to me too. Last holiday season I decided to treat my husband and myself to first class seats to visit family. When we boarded we found a large bodied woman taking up our whole row, 3 seats. She only bought 1 seat and needed 3 and the flight was full but the staff decided to accommodate the woman. My husband and I were moved to seats much smaller than I paid for. I complained to no avail. The seats were small for even me and I'm short and wear size S/M. I won't be using that airline again I am still very salty about this #teamsydney
@@unhiddenhistory yup, no joke. When I insisted that I want my seats the staff said they would call for a wheel chair to move her but never did. I assume they did not have the appropriate wheel chair to move her and probably why they just let her stay there. Too much hassle
That's because those useless airlines afraid being labelled or drag to human right commissioner for targeting obese people -- so better dealing with unhappy skinny customers instead. I think there should be legislation where all airplane must have certain # of seats to accommodate obese people, and those people must buy those seats if they reach certain body weight. If they don't, then they must not allow to fly and refunded their fee. It's not safe for them either by being squashed in tiny space -- higher risk for blood clot & resp. problem!
I had this problem I was trapped between a huge buff man and a huge moderately overweight man, they bust must've been 6'3. I was going green, both men were kind, I shut down and they called over the stewardess. She put me in my own seat. The men were kind i literally rolled myself over their bodies to get out as i was nauseous and anxiety ridden. They gathered my stuff and the stewardess brought it over to my new seat. I really appreciated the patience and kindness. I think I was lucky
I think what bothers me the most about this was that Sydney was being actually physically hurt during this flight and people are telling her she should have just put up with it. Imagine complaining because someone was hurting you only to be scolded for it. Reminds me of primary school.
I lost all sympathy for them when I found out the two people were siblings. I'd put money on the fact they booked two seats with one free in the middle in the hopes it would be vacant or the person would be move so they could take up 3 seats and pay for 2. I applaud the hustle, but at the barest minimum, they needed to recognise Sydney was uncomfortable and let her have the side seat, especially after she asked.
It's almost as if they got off on it. And that is where I'd ruin their whole shit. Pop em in the face and then run around and tire them out. One good kick to the knee and they are open for business.
Yes. No shame on them for trying, after all it the plane hadn’t been full Sydney could have been relocated, but being wilfully blind to their neighbour’s discomfort, after she has raised the switching seats thing, was Annoying.
The siblings should have sat next to each other. They should have known this was the polite thing to do. I can't believe they had no shame turning her request down, that was where it all went south in my mind, too. Like, it's not their fault the seats are small, but they are the type that don't even care about other people. That's so much worse than being fat, EW.
Thank you, as always, for being the voice of reason! If the airline really wanted to show their support for fat people, they would pay for the fat person's second seat themselves. Of course they aren't going to do that, they're greedy as hell. They just pass on the expense to an unsuspecting normal sized customer while shaming them for having the gall to complain that they didn't get to use what they paid for.
If they did that they would have to know passenger weight/size beforehand. Otherwise they will sell any seat available. Imagine the outcry if people had to give information about their weight and body size prior to booking a seat! ☝️
People's personal space should not have to be invaded because of other people's lifestyle choices and we shouldn't be the ones made to feel bad for saying something about it
The airlines are worried about taking a hit to their stocks. They know. But they can never say because the keyboard warriors will get woke about it. When everything has to be said as to not offend, the offended are precious widdle babies.

Also, I was thinking when she said she was hunched forward the whole flight with her head on the seat in front of her, realistically that didn’t sound safe. Like if something happened, that’s a bad position to be in.
Agreed. Unfortunately it'll probably take someone being seriously hurt to make airlines put safety before PR. If the plane had a mishap, she could have been seriously injured from not being able to sit properly in her seat; if the plane needed to be evacuated, that could have been a nightmare if one or both of them struggle to move and she's trapped between them (and lets hope these seats weren't at an emergency exit).

I know how she feels. I wasn't saed but was severely abused by an ex, but when I didn't like people too close to me, I was a baby and need to grow up and think how others feel. I hate how people turn others' trauma against them to make them look like the villain. I stand by Sydney!
Well, she kind of is. She’s an alt-right conservative. She dismisses SA as women being dramatic or making dumb decisions, and uses it as a tool for her to pick up and put down whenever she needs to take a shot at any other marginalised group.
Sydney led a men's rights march after a woman was sexually assaulted and murdered by a man. Sydney deserves the worst. I'm glad two fatties triggered her lmao!
Likewise, and I wouldn't be comfortable either especially due to SA and traumatic things I have experienced. I don't like anyone invading my space and privacy.
@@kiera6326 being conservative doesn't make you evil :') and she only says to look at facts before jumping into 'women are always right' rethoric. And despite what you might think about her believes, in this case she was treated in a horrible way and she is absolutely right in pointing out the unfairness of the situation
Those siblings knew they were too big which is why they didn't buy seats together and I'm sure they were hoping no one sat in that middle seat. Most people that fly together by seats next to each other. The fact that they didn't shows that they absolutely knew that they both spilled over into the seat next to them.
As someone who also has trauma the idea of a stranger touching me,even accidentally I’d be a mess, and as a small woman(100bs 4’7) I do absolutely everything I can to not take up space, I will never understand the kind of genuinely mean people who do not care about other human’s personal space, I’m so tired of fat acceptance types expecting people to bend over backwards for them but they can’t even do the smallest thing to not make others uncomfortable.
The fact they were siblings they could have had one pay for two seats and have the other sibling pay their sibling half the amount so they both had room.
It really is such a selfish situation. They were traveling together. They were hoping they wouldn't have to purchase the extra and the middle person would be moved. They didn't even need to buy 4 seats, an extra for each. Just the middle third one and they both would've had extra room.
As someone who is tall, and after just an hour of flight has literal purple knees full of bruising from the constant hitting of the chair in front, I get so annoyed when they complain so much for not fitting when its their choices that led them there.
Right, but i get more angry at people that fit in the seats perfectly but get upset after it it disturbs them for ONE flight, so I relish in the pain of this youtuber who doesn't give a fuck about the tall people. I would kill for a fat person squishing me every blue moon if it means that I never have to deal with missing out on opportunities and fun things because I dread the travelling conditions. This isn't only about a plane, this is the bus, the train it all a nightmare for people that don't fit vertically but I guess horizontally too. I wish losing weight was the key for me to have a comfortable trip, but i am not upset with fat people because it's just as uncomfortable for them as the people sitting next to them.
@@baba-bv8xz this was a dumb comment. If you're the one making it uncomfortable for both, you're the problem, not the person you made uncomfortable with your bad choices. Self lipo.
I went to a concert in April, first one since 2019, got amazing seats, spent a chunk of money on the tickets and was really excited to go. The entire show, I was crowded out by an obese woman who’s fat rolls kept rubbing on me. I was able to scoot closer to my husband but was so pissed that I even had to do that when I paid for the seat I was in. It was incredibly annoying and certainly did put a bit of a damper on the experience.
@@GigglewithFelix321 that logic doesn't translate well when applied to other situations. If I get insulted because of my long nose, should I change it (get surgery) for others? Faulty logic.
Little 15 year old me was on a flight to Paris (+6h) for a school trip and got wedged between two obese people and (luckily) the window. I couldn’t get up to go to bathroom because they couldn’t move and ended up checking the person next to me for the armrest because they were taking it and part of my seat up. I also was grossed out by the food on themselves from eating. I’m also tall so my legs barely fit in the seats and i have to sit angled or get wicked bruises. So yeah, teen me and adult me years later are on the same page, you have no right to be making other people really uncomfortable, whether that be because you’re loud, your child is a demon spawn with no manners, you’re taking more than your seat-worth of space, etc.
I saw her video too and if I was her position I would've been furious. It was super rude of them to sit there and pretend they didn't see her extremely uncomfortable. You know they saw her hunching over and trying to open her tray and did nothing.
I would have been furious too. I would've asked the flight attendant off to the side of the could maybe move me, or considering they were together I would have totally been a bitch and been like hey it's only polite if we switch spots I'm getting squished here
@@emb6101 Sydney asked them if they could switch seats and the brother and sister said No and then she informed one of the Flight attendants about the situation and they told her they'll ask around if anyone else wants to switch seats with her but that there are no other empty seats on the flight as it's at capacity.
This happened to me on a flight to Atlanta, I was miserable and I was running on no sleep, thankfully I had the aisle seat but I had to literally move my body to the side to not be crushed by this man. HOW IS IT FAIR THAT I GET HALF A SEAT AND PAY THE SAME PRICE??
Sighhhh PCOS. Same. 💀💀💀💀⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️I was 160 and climbing, I stupidly blamed PCOS. Now I’m at normal weight for my height. It was so easy to become delusional with the food choices…Like I eat a bunch of chocolates in one sitting, but because the chocolate are small in size, I assume it was a small snack LOL oh and all the sugar and cream in the coffees oh my lord.
I have hyperthyroidism. I was pretty skinny before I was diagnosed. Then it got a lot harder to maintain. So I, gasp, informed myself on how to eat correctly. Problem solved. I've lost 20-30 lbs several times when I realized my weight was up and continue to maintain it. Other people: never take responsibility and just continue to pile it on. Then blame others.
There is a reason you lost the weight you diddnt go full unaccountable, you took accountability and made the changes to improve and diddnt make excuses and deny everything
This happened to me on an American airline flight as well. I had the window seat and the guy sitting next to me in the middle was at least 450 pounds. I was literally squinched up all the way to the window. His whole entire Right thigh was in my space... he was sleeping over everything.... I've been overweight, my mother had gastric bypass surgery..my, brother lost a 100 pounds.... I understand obesity but this was just damn rudeness....
Something that they should really do, is if you are too big, you have to pay a fee so you can have both seats next to you so you aren’t a bother to anyone else. It’s fine if you’re overweight and you don’t mind being overweight, but that doesn’t mean you have to be accommodated by everyone else.
I agree with Sydney. Everyone deserves to be comfortable on a 3 or mor hour flight. She’s not “fat shaming”. She’s sharing with us how uncomfortable she was and the fact that the airline wasn’t doing anything about it. I’m overweight, but not so overweight where I’m invading someone’s space. It is hard to lose weight but it’s not impossible. I’ve lost over 32lbs so far. It’s not because they were heavy. It’s because they were knowingly invading someone’s space and making them uncomfortable. It’s just rude and socially unacceptable. This should have been dealt with.
Lol Sydney is not a doctor, she mentioned in her video the amount of writers mistaking her for one in their articles. You were right about her joking about it.
Lol, she says in her video about this that she is in fact, not a doctor, and I love how people want her "medical license revoked" as if all doctors are medical doctors. Also, thank you for giving me a bit of content that I actually needed to watch and listen to before getting upset about someone saying something ridiculous. Your comments are solid and I love you :)
There are larger seats. And even in economy class there are seats with more leg space. But you have to pay extra for these. Because they take up more space in the plane
She could be a doctor in philosophy, literature, chemistry or law or basicly anything else. The people shaming her are too dumb to even understand that-.-
WorldsWanderer, I completely agree!!! I don’t know why everyone who sees a Dr. title immediately assumes it is a medical Doctor! Those people are so ignorant!
@@jilliankramer4285 I’ve seen people lately being like “well if you aren’t in a medical profession why would put doctor”- uh because they went to school forever they earned it(I also notice that the people usually complaining don’t have their PHD)
@@casna5400 oh yeah, I remember there was a big fuss about that not too long ago! It made me mad because those peoples who earn their PhD or their Doctorate truly do a lot of work and schooling for years, but aren’t held to that same social accomplishment as a “medical” doctor!
The fact that these people were siblings and could've split the cost of one extra seat and chose not to is ridiculous. It's understandable if you don't know who will be in your row. This was purposeful.
The idea that none if these travelling struggles make these people think “huh maybe I’m the problem” tells you how self interested these people are. You don’t have to be stick thin but the idea that everyone has to cater to your issues is insane.
See the thing is I’m sure many of them actually do just purchase two seats of their own volition, if for no other reason because I doubt it’s super comfortable for them either, but still.
Also I find it so funny because my father is 6'3, my boyfriend is 6'2 and I'm 5'9 and when we fly we complain with my very tiny mom that the seats aren't made for tall people, but we never ever implied that the companies should adapt to our height (?!?). It's an aircraft not a cruise, you just sit tight and eventually you'll land and get to stretch yourself.
@@la_gobba_di_aigor Yes!! I'm also very tall but know that planes are small, this isn't new information to anyone. If you need more room buy an extra seat or fly first class 🤷 don't screw over the person next to you. This also goes for people who recline when someone is in the seat behind them.
I can’t help but think the siblings knew that if they sat beside each other they would be squishing each other and purposely booked seats with a space in between
They were probbaly hoping no one sat in the middle..they should have bought the middle and split the cost. It would seem they choose their seats otherwise they would have more likely been in very different seats across the plane. For them to be in the same row does suggest they paid to sit together so they could have bought the middle too.
Sidney had a right to complain what happened to her. The least they could've done was let her have another empty plane seat and have her privacy and let the ones between her keep their space
If the airline really accepted all body types, they would make special rows with seats designated for large people. I’m a petite woman and I recently flew domestically and was in an aisle seat next to an equally petite woman. Somehow she still had her legs and arms in my space, so I don’t know how Sydney survived, or how anyone much larger than me survives on any flight.
@@Steph-yz4tn They didn’t even have different classes on most of the domestic flights I’ve been on. In those cases, it doesn’t really seem fair to make someone pay for two whole seats if they’re just slightly too big for the teeny tiny seats that are available. They really like to cram people in like sardines lol
@@half-bakedpotato1078 they have to cram people in. If you wanna mention the environment it would be better/more efficient cost wise and resource wise, if they could send over 50 people each flight compared to 30 heavy set people. I know alot of larger American people don’t think about where their “resources” come from because it’s not a obvious in your face issue and America definitely over produces food and clothing. So with America already over doing it else where it’s nice they are not giving in to changing plane seats. If anything they should focus on a better engine or better fuel source. Or a teleporter 😅
@@natashaorr1596 Teleportation would be awesome, for sure. I still think having a row or two of larger seats might ultimately be better environmentally than having one person buy two seats, but idk. Either that or having a height/weight limit, which I’m sure would go over well 😆
Happy to see you made a video on this! I feel so much for Sydney, not only because she was forced to be sandwiched between two massively obese people, but she has a history of having been assaulted on a plane before and from what I recall absolutely no justice came of it. Side note: Michelle, I want so badly to start a "What I eat in a day as a slim person who doesn't want to gain weight" tiktok xD Is that so wrong?? The attention troll in me wants to do it soooo bad, but I don't want to give the impression that my diet is wonderful - it's meh at best. Funny that I worry about that when super obese girls posting "What I eat in a day as a FAT person who ISN'T on a diet!" obviously don't.
Go for it. I'm a vegetarian with vegan leanings, only 5'1", and very active, so I stay healthy and well-fed on 800 calories a day. I gain weight if I eat any more, and it's not in the form of muscle unless I'm actively in training and upping the protein in my diet. Some folks think I'm exaggerating, but I also can't imagine eating a 2k+ calorie daily intake and think they're exaggerating. It looks like so much food. 😂
I dont blame her for calling them “the fats” it was at during the flight and she was venting her frustration. Pretty sure she would have worded it differently if she twitted the next day
I'm surprised that I saw no one mentioning that Sydney was touched without her consent (don't want bots to hide this comment if I were to use the other word) in a plane a few years before, I can't imagine how she must've felt having to pretty much relive that experience. These people are vile
well, you are going way overboard, its absolutely not the same. I understand if that really happened to her, that she can be uncomfortable, that's for sure, but its in no way the same thing, because one is done on purpose while the other is almost a curse. Its true that they touch her indirectly because how fat they are, but its not an intentional action. its just very unpleasant, on that i agree, i don't even know if i would have stayed there if that happened to me, i would have stood up mid flight, and force the attendant to either change me of place, or let me stand for the flight. even if it was 3 hours, always better than being sandwitched between fat people lol

The fact that many people ACTUALLY believed Sydney Watson to be a doctor is so hilarious. 😂😂😂 This just proves she's a better troller yet is so chillax in handling this issue. 👑
This girl is brave for talking about this lol I'm not shocked at all that people got mad at her. But it would suck having strangers in your space like that for 3 hours no matter their weight
As a 6th grader, I remember seeing a obese man having to use two seats on a plane headed to the Philippines. I was a pretty fat kid then, and I remember thinking to myself, “I never want that happening to me”. Ive lost a good amount of weight since then.
My mom’s second husband (now ex husband) was real obese and every time he had to fly, he always bought 2 seats to be comfortable and fair. And we’re talking about the fact that he’s been doing this to my knowledge at least since 2008… idk what’s the problem with people having a hard time excepting the fact that it’s something they need to do.
Speaking as a Fat. When I fly I do my best to stick into my zone. Mind you im not as fat as the people described in this video and I am losing weight (thank you Michelle) but I feel as a bigger person it is my responsibility to it ruin a 5 hour flight for someone else.
I’ve actually been in the same situation; my flight was short so I thought I could handle it. My friend got up graded to Business class so about 20 minutes into the flight the air steward approached me and asked me to go with her. So, I got my bag and followed her, and we ended up in business class. My friend had asked if I could join her there as there were only 5 people in business class and they also gave me a glass of champagne 🥂
I was an excuse maker for the longest time. I was in straight DENIAL!! But eventually I got fit-woke and and started triggering and offending my fat until it effed right off, and lost 103lbs of physical and mental weight as a result. So yeah, it's 100% possible. I don't think she did anything wrong. It's annoying as hell when someone is all in your space. Especially on a plane!!!!
Right! I hit a breaking point earlier this year and started eating differently and exercising every day (I fell off but am about to start up again🙃) I was talking to my mom about it and she said she noticed I had gained weight but didn't say anything because it wouldn't have helped. I had to realize it for myself and make the decision to change. I like how you described your weight loss as "triggering and offending" it until it went away🤣
Dude same! At my max I was 200lbs (considering I have loose joints this was the highest I got before my knees started slipping out of place. And my hips.) I was convinced it was fine. Now I am down to 150 with mostly muscle and I feel amazing. I don't miss being large. I don't even miss "eating what ever you want". I enjoy the things I eat, my workouts, and it breaks my heart when people say food is their only comfort. I was there and it is the loneliest place in the world. ALSO: PSA to those chronically in doors. GET YOUR VITAMIN D CHECKED. Even if you eat dairy. There is a massive epidemic of depression and health issues related to severe vitamin D deficiency. Eating dairy will not provide enough vitamin D. If you don't go out in the sun often then please get it checked. My vitamin D was at 8. It's supposed to be between 30 and 60. This can cause many different health related issues: Depression Anxiety Tingling in limbs Headaches Body aches Hair loss Rashes Digestion issues Rubbery bones Easily broken bones Skeletal deformities Neck and back issues Increased dislocations Psychosis (extreme cases) Rickets If you experience these symptoms now or during winter then ask your doctor to test your levels. I had "seasonal" depression for years. It wasn't seasonal depression, my vitamin D simply drops in the winter. Some people also don't process vitamin D correctly and will have very low levels. Please if you experience symptoms like this don't just assume what it is. My mother's hospital has had to deal with about 20 cases in the last two months where the "mental health" issue was actually just a Vitamin D deficiency. Withing 48 hours there was even a girl who had gone completely mute who was happy and smiling again. :D Annoying PSA done.
God the hip surgery part really got me heated as someone with hip dysplasia and chronic pain, that could mess someone up for weeks and cause a whole host of other issues. I know for me, 4 hours in a position like that would leave me unable to walk for the rest of the day at least. It's ridiculous that they expect anyone to be forced to stay like that for an extended period of time, let alone someone with a medical condition.

Good riddance to them. Life isn’t a pair of giant airbags; cushioning your feelings and poor choices. Being overweight is 100% a personal issue and others shouldn’t have to pay for their poor choices. Being fat phobic is better than being an absolute degenerate.

It is not self sacrificing to pay for the space you take up. They’re just doing what’s right. While there’s nothing wrong with thanking them for that calling them self sacrificing for paying for the space they take up is just wrong.
I plan to travel abroad within the next couple of years and I've been on my weight loss journey for the past 1.5 months. Part of the reason is to be able to enjoy flights and not burden anyone with my presence. I once experienced a flight where a child with filthy hands and feet was sitting between me and her mom. She would kick and squirm and her filthy little limbs would touch me. I definitely don't want to cause any sort of crap like that. No one deserves that. Losing weight is worth the effort! I have so much more energy and my joints are so grateful for it!
@@marthagomez6925 first of all you won't be a burden if you don't behave like the two individuals in the videos, and I'm sure you won't honey. Second, i can recommend a front seat, the ones with no row ahead, sometimes called "more leg room seats". That way a lot of uncomfortableness will be avoided on your part and the other passengers. I know it's not very gratifying but if you want you could perhaps call the airplane company and ask how large the seats are and measure you size so you know if you need another seat. In that case ask if you can take the armrest up so you can be more comfortable. You aren't an inconvenience just for your size, these people were an inconvenience because they were inconsiderate of others' needs.
@Kat Brown everyone isn't you, ppl won't comply if they get literally squashed by 2 fat people for hours. Stop acting like someone better, you'd too be uncomfortable if you were in her seat 🤦♂️
People didn't hesitate to tell Sydney to fly first class but I notice that these same people didn't tell the other two people the same darn thing. I've been on a plane next to a big guy and he and I worked together because he understood my not wanting him in my tiny plane space. This brother and sister were in the wrong, in this case, the minute they didn't purchase the third seat between them.
one time i was on a flight and the woman sitting next to me was so large she was taking up her entire seat and half of mine. i spent my whole flight being super tensed up because i barely like being touched by people i know, much less by strangers, so i could barely move comfortably. i asked a flight attendant if there was an empty seat i could sit in but she said no. that woman should honestly have bought 2 tickets. i was just thankful i had the aisle seat otherwise i think i literally would have been in tears 😂
right. these are the same people who scream “me too” when a man gets in their personal space. but when fat people encroach on our bodies, somehow that’s not problematic!?
@@sweetlifeofHoney Exactly. Sydney is a better woman than me because they would have had to drop me off mid-air. Unjust inconvenience isn't my cup of tea.
I would have busted out the rules that they need to buy two seats for their size and that she is taking up half my seat. this is not what I paid for. And that they can get on another flight that they pick two seats for themselves.
As a woman of size I was disgusted how Sydney was treated :( I recently flew back in July and can attest to the planes not being designed with big people in mind. It was the most uncomfortable few hours of my life x.x especially when I had to use the tiny restroom. People really need to stop being so sensitive about *everything* .
It’s like they think because she’s thin, she can afford a first class seat? I can’t afford a first class seat and I’m “straight sized.”

Best response I’ve seen over this:
Airline: “our passengers come in all sizes.”
Poster: “too bad your seats don’t.”

Exactly
Hell, they could've split the cost of that third seat and had the row to themselves.
They were probably hoping the seat would be empty. It was a full flight that day though.
If this were the case, then there is wisdom in paying themselves for the seat in between them, instead of relying on hope that it would be empty...
@@maximum_bird That's what I was thinking too

The fact that the two people refused to switch seats is pretty telling as well. They were just fine causing someone else discomfort, when they could have at easily tried to minimize the issue. I also love that everyone conveniently ignored that Sydney called herself a sardine, the tweets were obviously meant to be funny.
One can't expect a person who's putting themselves through that level of discomfort, existing in that obese body every day, to have empathy for or understand that some people aren't and don't want to be subjected to that much or that specific kind of discomfort; hence: it's only logical they behaved towards her the way they did.

Or another seat, since they are the ones who can’t fit. What if the thin person had a disability, would it matter. And why am I paying for extra baggage. Next time I’ll just keep my bag on my lap and ask for a seatbelt extender, who cares about the people around me 🙄.

there was a guy yelling at sydney that she was disgusting. yet he didnt offer to switch seats with her.

The fact they were siblings they could have had one pay for two seats and have the other sibling pay their sibling half the amount so they both had room.
exactly
their own brother wouldn’t sit in between those two
It really is such a selfish situation.

This can cause many different health related issues:
Depression
Anxiety
Tingling in limbs
Headaches
Body aches
Hair loss
Rashes
Digestion issues
Rubbery bones
Easily broken bones
Skeletal deformities
Neck and back issues
Increased dislocations
Psychosis (extreme cases)
Rickets
If you experience these symptoms now or during winter then ask your doctor to test your levels.
