- Film from the archives of Mr. Bill Morrow. Neat mini promo circa 1972, featuring some nice scenes of classic airliners around FRA, including a segment on Lufthansa 747s. Be sure to check my channel for the best in VINTAGE & RARE airliner videos! / classicairli. .

Very intriguing. I miss the good old days at Hamburg when TWA (727s) and Pan Am (727s & 737s) were daily guests.
Amazing, I know this Airport since 1977...in summer 77 I took my very first flight...alone. I was 15 years old and going to Stockholm! Not a direct flight...we had a stop in Hamburg...
Yes flew there in August 1979 to see family I the then west germany cool memories✈️
Beautiful!
D-ABYB, a B-747 100, sister ship of the one showed here at 1:53 (D-ABYA), crashed on 11-20-74 shortly after takeoff in Nairobi Int'l Airport as Lufthansa Flight 540.
D-ABYA was sold to Braniff in late 1978 , and flew for a few others until being retired from Tower Air (N-603FF), scrapped at JFK in 2001
great video
Back then, they handled the traffic with only 2 runways - 1983 came the third and 2012 the fourth...
Meanwhile at Heathrow...
@@speedbird1598 hahaha I was about to mention that
West Germany; I have not heard that in a very long time.
Super 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I wish there are resources and ways to digitize this historic peace of film!
1:31 i thought the Boeing 747 jumbo jet was this upcoming Lufthansa looking closer at the tail it was pan am
I flew on that beauty from gru-fra-gru and i remember that i didnt sleep during 11 hour flying
...My Dad worked with Lufthansa back in 1961...To his Last Day of work....Then later...He Died.....+++.....1989....
and I think it's going to be a long, long time...
Can u do bdl
😊
Back when there was a West & East Germany... Life was not nearly as good for the East :-(
Looks much better now :-)
still good times, We new where the enemy was(for us in the East, for them we in the West) not like today where a enemy lives next door. Smoking in every way, colorful planes and no plasic airbus.
I guess Lufthansa has been loyal to Boeing for a long time and I hope it will continue to be.
BobEckert56 they dont
Carlos Vasconcellos I don't understand Carlos. Do you mean they don't want to buy both Airbus and Boeing products?
At least the 737 is going out of service
Carlos Vasconcellos Do you not like Boeing jets?
Isn't it weird that Germany's largest city is Berlin and second largest is Hamburg but Germany's largest airport is in 5th largest city of the country?
I thought so too until i looked at a map then it all makes perfect sense. Do a google map and you will see why Frankfurt is so busy. Busy for trains too.

Most of Lufthansa’s customers connect through Frankfurt. My aunt owns a travel agency and a lot of her bookings from to Toronto to Africa or the Middle East is with Lufthansa or KLM. Usually KLM through Amsterdam because they have better fares.
It's basically in the middle of economy
This was when east germany was a thing, just telling so people don't get confused
The narrator has an oddly-stilted manner of speaking.
kinda sounds like ZeFrank
