My sense from watching everyone so far is that SPA is king. If only you can manage to take out their artillery, and get your artillery to be unopposed. You can then use it to take out AT guns, allowing your tanks to move up. From there, it's just a matter of good micro (keeping your tanks alive, getting panzerschrecks close, suppressing with artillery - in the air war, rockets are best for taking out hard targets, and you don't need fighters as long as you have tons of AA, but it obviously helps if you can take out all enemy fighters and then their bombers)

Hi Vulcan! Thanks for the upload, I'm really looking forward to you fighting your way through the campaign! In the first battle, I'd say you made a couple of "mistakes" and I'd like to hear if you agree or know better than me ;-) 1. Low tier AT guns are perfect for sniping vehicles before they've unloaded It seemed like you could have taken out half of their reinforcements/attacks, greatly speeding up your victory and reducing your casualties. (although I'm not even sure they were in this unit stack, I can't seem to spot them in your match, which would be so weird!) 2. Priority targets for bombers should be artillery from the very start The artillery suppresses your units, and randomly kills some all the time. Bombing their AA first and then their artillery seemingly could have saved you half your casualties. (I mean, look at the moonscape at 35:25, that's so much unnecessary damage! Then again, at 38:45, most of your losses seem to be due to AT guns and infantry, but maybe those infantry only won because your guys were suppressed by artillery?) 3. Scouting is key It seemed like you really lacked scouting info as you advanced. It might have been good to get those spotter planes way sooner and just have it circle the map. Or have non-firing snipers creep ahead of the infantry all the time. At 31:00 this seemed like a painful lack. Please let me know whether you agree with any of my points! :-)
"... move our guys to the back so that I don't lose them for the campaign..." Yeah, I remember that from SD44 as well. There really needs to be a mechanic that allows for you to "pull out" a force so that you don't have a party at the back of the map. Like, not a reinforcement or anything, just the ability to "retreat", permanently removing that unit from THIS fight, but saving it's card for the future. (Obviously, it needs to get far enough away from the front to use this action, to prevent people from just "Alt-F4ing" their units in danger ;p)
That's one thing I always dislike in Eugen campaign games, even back in Red Dragon. The ability to retreat units off the map. Another thing I dislike is how infantry squads cannot combine their strength into 1. Say there is one 5/10 Grenadier squad and another 2/10 Grenadier squad. Both with the same veterancy. Why can't they combine both into a single 7/10 Grenadier squad? Instead I'm forced to run the 2/10 squad back in a corner and be useless.
That would be too close to cheating for comfort. What if you " save " all those units and then suddenly the battle turns and you lose? Its a bit crappy for the winning side, isnt? To balance it, the mechanic should ensure that you lose any retreated units as well..and then it amounts to pretty much nothing changes.

One of key things in battle is proper use of artillery, both mortars and heavy guns.Withount those you can't hope to do much against well defended enemy.Use smokescreen on wide open terrain for your infantry to cross to next cover or protection, and deploy enough of mortars or guns to also do some counterbattery fire against enemy's one.Don't rush tanks also before you do proper recon and arty softening

I look forward to seeing all those German divisions get encircled near orsha.
Also does the game replicate that Soviet divisions were half the size of German divisions or not?
Well,in intro and reinforcements tab you have 3 rifle and 2nd guards tank corps while Germans have 4 divisions,so yeah.
How do you make the bombers split on the attack?
you dont really need to care that much about loses, you have plenty of troops
I guess.... but you can't reinforce/combine regiments, can you?
So any damage you take on one "deck" of units makes that deck less viable in all future battles, meaning it would be best to bring 3 completely new sets to every single fight....?
Will you do the campaigns as the Germans at some point in the future?
Lol aah some vehicles coming in? Ahh I can bomb them! That bunker hmm.... i guess i can bomb it. Hmm bomb that one that one and that one. Haha hilarious! But yeah you make good use of them xD
A minor thing, but it's pronounced Bag-Rati-On, not Bagration, Bagra-tion, or Bag-Ration as some people say it. The game doesn't get it right.
Is there a laptop for around 1k that will run this well ?
dam were they getting Hammered by only 2 units? 16:47
I don't know why but I can't enjoy this game as much as I did in Red Dragon.
its avtoMATchiki, not avtomatCHIKI
A smart game, beautiful to behold, but for avail, for in order to play it, you can´t enjoy its graphical richness and beauty.
Yeah it's a tough balance.
Do the german campaign with the hardest difficulty!
Looks like I will be!
also surprised you didnt use mortars?
I'm trying to avoid losses - Man playing as Russians 2k19
Oh buddy your gonna be in for a rough awakening.
Well I guess, but five minutes later you're talking about infantry charges. Oof says the Avtos.
Given all this Air Support, you sure you're not playing the Americans? :P
Ai is way too aggressive.. didnt they tone it down in latest patch?
Depends quite a lot on the difficulty I believe.
Hello
Is Steel Division 2 a PC Game or a PS4 Game or both please a answer?
PC Game
@@VulcanHDGaming Thank you I subbed
I've been trying to play this on easy and i just cant seem to push through even the first battle haha
Cam you play the German campaign
I will be after I've played through as the Soviets.
I keep losing battles
Doesn't zoom in once...
looks complicated
Why truck disappeared after unloading...hhhh
So people don't use them as suicide scouts.
there should be lithuania not belarus (i mean game intro) such a fail.
I thought the Germans had really good AA during the Russian campaigns and lost a shit ton of air because of it. Here you hardly lose anything.
I'm not letting their AA regiments get involved in the battles, and if they are then I'm neutralising them first.
gvardia? You mean Guard unit? :P
That's how it's pronounced in russian.
