CASTELLO DEI MEDICI - the former GHOST CASTLE is a dark ride by MACK Rides, which originally opened in 1982 and was completely redesigned for the 2024 season in cooperation with Bavaria Film Studios. The official reopening took place on July 25, 2024.

"The 'Ghost Castle’ returns to Europa-Park as ‘Castello dei Medici’ with new theming.
It's haunted again! The popular haunted castle in the Italian themed area has been extensively renovated and awaits you with new exciting scary fun.
Guests are transported through the palace in small gondolas, with ghostly voices and ghoulish figures everywhere. Lorenzo, whose story is based on the historical figure of the early Italian Renaissance ‘Lorenzo de’ Medici', is also up to mischief here.
Lorenzo wants to take revenge on the traitorous Pazzi family and comes into possession of an ancient stone tablet with strange symbols and meaningful writings. The text, written in an unknown Latin language, promises eternal life to anyone who follows its instructions. He organises his entire life to pursue this plan. During the four-minute ride in the dark ride, guests find out what he experiences and whether he will manage to escape death in the end."

Je préfère largement la nouvelle version. Plus cohérente, plus classe, avec une vraie storyline et une thématique adaptée au quartier italien. L'histoire de Lorenzo de Medici est un choix thématique très original pour un dark ride hanté. La version précédente n'avait aucune cohérence, mélangeant les époques et les genres, et avait une atmosphère trop comique en raison des têtes chantantes et des blagues racontées par les personnages au banquet, sans parler des éléments tirés du film Happy family. Europa Park a bien réussi sa réhabilitation.
Ich finde, der Fahrstuhl verbesserte sich, diese Tafelrunde empfinde ich langweiliger, das verfolgende Gesicht ist gut, aber darunter ist nichts...jetzt fahren Geister wieder mit (Spiegel). Das feiere ich sehr. Die Tanzszene, da fehlen jetzt oben die hockenden Kobolde. Die hätte man sitzen lassen können. Und das Ticken finden ich doof, der Glockenschlag war besser. Es ist insgesamt nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht viel besser. Diese Teufelszene am Schluss kommt mir zu krass und unpassend vor.
Le tic-tac n'est pas du tout stupide, c'est comme un compte à rebours qui annonce que la fin est proche pour les invités de Lorenzo puisqu'ils vont se faire tuer dans les scènes suivantes.

No, the new one is far better. It has a real storyline and coherence, unlike the previous one which was a joke.
@@cinemaniac6599 the new one might have a storyline but its in no way scary what so ever, its more of a joke. id actually recommend it more for kids now, though they wont understand the story, its really in no way "scary" i was there just yesterday and was really dissapointed, the old one had atleast some scares and had alot to look at. the new one is well made and the story is also pretty cool but its just bland and boring, in no way is the new one a scary ride, the only thing scary about it is the dissapointing renovation, personally just my opinion, but i just wanted to share, since i really dont understand how one can like the new version better
You must be joking ! It isn’t for kids, it’s about a man (Lorenzo de Medici) who kills his guests to become immortal, but instead he’s damned and sent to hell. What could be childish about this story ?
I saw parents who took their kids out of the ride when I was there because it was too scary for them.
There are jumpscares, a spooky music and a dark storyline, nothing childish at all. By the way the previous version was indeed childish : singing heads, jokes told by the ghosts at the dinner, characters from the kids film « Happy family »…
Stop saying nonsense, it isn’t a ride for kids.
