They have achiote paste also known as annatto rubbed on their skin. It’s the reason why they called the Indians the red race. Personally it looks like they used red paint in the movie rather than annatto but anyways some amazon Indians have their whole body covered in that red paste and some are covered all black.
This is one of the few horror movies that’s ever made me feel physically ill. 🤣
So either you haven't seen the human centipede or you need psychiatric help
@@acidic_soda I can't speak for Mary but this movie was way worse for me. It didn't actually make me sick but I definitely felt a bit queasy. Anything with inuring/scooping out eyes really unnerves me. I had an eye injury as a kid so maybe it's some deep held trauma. I don't know. I've watched all the "worst" gory movies and the only thing that ever bothers me is eye stuff.
Irreversible made me feel sick, and i wasn't the same for months after it, horrible movie.
@@no.4333 I'm the exact same way. I'm alright with any gore, as long as it has nothing to do with eyes.

Fun fact-What’s cool about the movie though is the tribe in it are actually a real tribe! They were apparently super kind and excited to be in a film!
Well? Everyone is capable of devolving into that. Even the Civilized world if they were beaten down enough. This movie also helped influence movies like Ravenous which is another movie about cannibalism. Only it ain't as RAW.
This is basically Cannibal Holocaust but toned down. Speaking of Cannibal Holocaust, REVIEW IT.

Yes! That scene wrecked me, I almost 🤮 after that. I stopped and then thought maybe I should keep going and try to see it through, then I get to the scene where the brought all the girls out and I tapped out for good

Like that one case near Papua new guinea, the tribe ate their dead in a ceremony of sorts where the body was cooked and everyone in the village ate it.

I always laugh out load when I watch your reviews :D. And I gotta say, Firefly and Serenity ..heart! I always wanted to watch this movie but somehow never felt in the mood..as in 100% because I knew what I was in for, so watching your review and synopsis made me finally "watch" it so to speak. No, I wont watch it, but now I know the story and I'm satisfied with that :).

Loved this movie. It’s like Roth watched all of the previous cannibal movies, added some twists and bumped it up a notch. BTW - some really funny gags in this review. The shakeweight was a total lol. Fun fact: the final girl is Roth’s former wife.

I liked this movie, I’m starting to enjoy Eli Roth movies. The 2 hostels are my favorite. I’ve noticed in his movies he has a style of showing the most gruesome death around the second act, then after that it’s basically turns into survival horror, the graphic horror tones down.
