I was a little kid when I first heard the self-titled debut. I was in elementary school and my dad always had self-titled playing. Literally changed my life and my approach to guitar playing.
No problem my friend! My goal with my 3eb cover project is to help players understand how Cadogan wrote his material with the band. Same goes for anything Tony helped co-write. Thanks for watching!
I've been going through your 3EB vids dude. Probably have the most accurate vids I've seen on YT so far. Putting in good work, some of those tunings are crazy. Are you referencing any particular tabs or going off of live performance vids and such?
Thanks man! Appreciate it very much. Yeah some of these tunings are crazy as Kevin is known for on the first two albums. I don’t trust tabs in general unless they are written by either the artist themself or someone who has had a direct connection with them. That said, Kevin did have input on the Self-Titled tab book published by Hal Leonard and after reading through it, I was shocked to see how well it lined up with the album in terms of accuracy. There is a tab book for “Blue” however Cadogan has noted that it was done without his input and after reading through, it definitely shows. Many of the tunings are wrong however, Wounded and Darkness both had the correct tunings surprisingly as confirmed by Kevin on social media a few years back. More than anything though, it has been from watching the man himself play these songs. Kevin’s riffs sometimes demand certain fingerings for the unusual chord shapes and licks, so I always refer back to the electric factory 98’ concert and some older footage to see how he played back then. Same goes for Tony’s material with 3eb. Hope that helps, let me know if you need any pointers or have any other questions!
@@BDKelso2000 excellent info my dude. I remember digging up an old forum post and a few interviews with Kevin where he discussed some of the tunings of the songs. Basically did the same thing you did and referenced the old concerts
@@jonathanclark3829 Yeah those interviews are hard to come by but the info is gold. My advice to anyone playing Kevin’s stuff is to know the tuning 100% because that will make or break you being able to learn the songs. It’s impossible to play his stuff outside of them because of how they are written.
When this album first came out I was at a listening station at a record store. I heard the first 20 seconds of this song and I became an instant fan.

@@BDKelso2000 yeah, it's a classic album for sure!
Amazing really great guitar cover
Great cover, nailed the mini licks on the verse too
Thanks man! That’s something many players don’t notice in the verse. Cadogan always spiced it up.
awesome cover thanks for helping me learn this song :)
