Access Remote Desktop Over the Internet [Outside Network]

- Setting up Remote Desktop allows you to remotely access your computer from anywhere and control it as if you were directly in front of the PC. If you need to connect to your PC from outside of the network your PC is running on, you need to enable that access. The easiest way is to set up port forwarding on the router. Here's the step-by-step guide on how to access Remote Desktop from a different network.

Perfect!! Less than 5 min, straight to the point with some optional steps. You guided us to go exactly where to go and not assume we know how. Thank you so much
Simple and direct, no frills and straight to the point.
You really helped me, my friend. Greetings from Brazil
Perfect, straight forward and very detailed 🎉
Brilliant, straight to the point and accurate

worked really well, thank you so much
Do you have static IP or dynamic?
@rakeshpithwa123 you must need statistic ip for FTP server .
@@inspirationalquotes7378 if static IP required then what's need of ddns we do directly.
@EGEOEMEGHARA just follow the instructions, I use a LinkSys router so so have to work out a little bit

Is this work, if I keep changing the ip address with the pc that I wanted to remote?
What will be the target ip in no ip dns website
I followed this in order to manage a server running on my second PC while I was off my LAN, on a trip. Came back to find my second PC locked and hit with a Ransomware attack, with all my files locked. I'd been running that PC for months before this with no issues at all, having certain ports forwarded and connections from friends. I'm only left to conclude that this tutorial (which I followed precisely) opens your computer up to massive vulnerability and should be avoided at all costs.
Came looking in the comments for something like this, was looking for a secure remote desktop method and yeah opening a bunch of unprotected ports on your router is asking for trouble unfortunately.
Hey, this was a really good video! It was straight to the point, accurate, and you also explained WHY! We are taking these steps which is crucial in learning any software! Far too often people post videos like this and just expect you to follow steps as shown. But doing things that way, if you're ever to encounter a problem, you won't understand whats going on. What would be great to build upon in this particular video is the security risks involved with opening the default port to the internet. I would to suggest to anyone doing so to use a VERY LONG PASSWORD! It won't be long before some random person or bot cracks that password while trying to test their hacking skills. Although I myself do not understand the security steps taken in other videos, there are other videos that suggest taking some "basic" security measures to help mitigate the risk. It took only 3 weeks for my password to be hacked and the asshole deleted some important stuff. Consider looking into security measures when using RDP. Otherwise GREAT video thanks man instant sub!
as I noted in a separate comment, this tutorial's lack of even mentioning a potential security risk led to my server PC getting hit with ransomware. I'll probably have to wipe the whole thing because of it, and this video didn't even take a second to mention anything related to security. I guess it's my fault I didn't go out of my way to check for security vulnerabilities when following a tutorial from a tech channel. At least it's a good reminder to never follow the tutorials from random indian guys on youtube.
When i click Apply settings while on DDNS, my router reloades DDNS tab and change password. And cuz of that i cant connect to no-ip
Bro this technique is not working in my case I have done exactly same as you have told configured the port forwarding & DDNS setup still failed to establish a RDP connection to my PC over the Internet.
It shows not able to find the PC or server on the network.
I have followed all the instructions and I do not have a static IP address so I followed the instructions for this as well. Now, I want to access my PC from my iPhone using Remote Desktop Client but I can not configure it. Please help.

Hello Techy, I changed my home internet provider to ATT with the router (bgw320-500), could you show me how to setup for remote pc outside network, thank you
is there any chance by others to read domain or ip and pc user name password

Does anyone know how an RDP connection to a host that’s on VPN with split-tunneling disabled can be done?
cant connect for one of these reasosns. can u show with miwifi. tho i followed everything it aint help
That was very easy. I have a static IP address. How to setup with the help of Static IP?
Note ISP has installed router. I use cable to connect the ISP router and TPlink router.
How about if I have static IP in WAN, what username Im going to use when login in remote?
The username of your remote pc
you're the best
Thank you.
Is there an alternative to port forwarding as I don’t have access to to the routers configuration
And can I use a vpn to do this too
vpn server is configured on router usually, but you can dedicate only your machine as well as for rdp by using UPnP if last is supported and switched on in the router settings.
I have done the same thing but unable to connect from other network
Thanks!
thank brother
is this possible without using a Static IP but instead leave it on DHCP
I followed step by step, have static ip for remote machine and static ip for tplink router and used dynamic dns and its NOT connecting, disabled windows firewall tried and tried its not working Any one had success????????
can i access ftp server from outside network by using this method?
did you try and did it work?
Yes you can use ftp server outside network, but you need to have a static ip. It's not free, ask your ISP for It's price! Good luck.
Your remote desktop 🖥️ using which network own or your ❓
home edition ?
How would this work if the computer that I want to remote into AND the client are both using a mobile internet connection?
The same way but if you can't set the IP to be static on the peer computer (the one you want to remote IN), you'll probably have to get the IP address each time. Sounds like a pain if you try to remote in but dont have access to it at the time.
Thanks, done
And how to stop this from the remote desktop side
Please make a video on clonadesk.
Every setup is done successfully but still showing error Remote Desktop can't connect....

It only works if I am on the same network. How do I access from different network?
yes, fine, but this is very, extremely unsecure. you will see a bunch of hackers trying to get access to your computer.
Yeah...if you really want to do it you need a strong password

I was about to ask how to do this with multiple VMs, but then it dawned on me that I could just set this up on the host, lol.

YOU HAVE THE RARE BUILD OF WINDOWS 10
I tried all your steps but I still cant RDP to my PC
I can access my router via DDNS hostname. Can someone help me here?
Assuming everything else is set up correctly, make sure you have "Configure Network Level Authentication" turned off in settings > remote desktop > advanced settings
how can we turn on a computer remotely from different network?
You can't
why?@@Furiousbanner
You must enable wol feature on Windows and in your bios also. Then forward the port 9 on your router. Use any sorta app or software in android or pc to reach your forwarded port. That's it.
Be careful: configuring Wol as Wow is bit tricky and require a lot of knowledge of security and risk of doing these things. So do it carefully at your own risk!
I am currently using Wol as Wow with teamviewer. I am able to boot my pc from my college using Wow and i am able to operate my pc using Teamviewer.
I would like to suggest that buy yourself a static ip only if you really need it. Otherwise stay away from it. It's not a toy. You can be a victim of cyber security attacks if you don't know how to handle port and ip safely. Good luck!
its quite difficult to set up, but there are lots of tutorials out there
If your router has a public static IP, there is no need to configure any no ip DDNS. You can simply access the remote desktop over the internet by using port forwarding.
I tried 3 times but not working on my laptop.

Oh man, dont open port 3389 on your computer. One of the worst things you can do if you value network security.
What is best way bro
can u share a better way, it would be very helpful thankyou.
Secure VPN, please don't open 3389. Hackers be browsing your files in no time lol@@ferdinardajaba2691
A way i know, use internal port as 3389 and use external port of your choice eg. 3333 or 5444, it's on your choice.
@@ferdinardajaba2691 Open RDP port isn't safe at all. You should buy router with VPN and connect through VPN.

Why don't people just use tools like Teamviewer or Anydesk?
Anydesk is shit and teamviewer is very expensive!
they charge a lot of money
Personally, I used this to be able to connect to my work computer from home, so I would have access to everything. The ability to virtually be in my work cubicle was very convenient. And then Covid happened, and we all had to get setup like that anyway, lol!
remote desktop and team viewer/anydesk purpose is different...
this is the easiest way but the most unsecure way. anyone can enter in your netwrok with port you open on the router.
can i do this a more secure way or any better alternatives? i need it since im not in my home country and i cant physically disconnet my pc from the internet if something ever goes wrong.
