I would suggest an additional step to mitigate hacking....for a windows PC the local security policy should be changed. so 1)Type "Local security policy" in search bar bottom left of Win screen and open the local security policy. 2)Under "Account Policies" open "Account lockout policy" and change "Account lockout threshold" from 0 to 3. Now the PC will be locked for 30mins when an incorrect password is entered 3 times.

@@Bandgeek601local account policy applies to a single workstation. If you want to apply LAN policies, you would need a domain.
Very rarely do tutorials like this work out, but its 100% functional and he gives you all the right safety information as well. GOATED.

I followed this entire tutorial. It was very well done but at 21:50 I completely missed the instruction to add a colon after the IP followed by the port number… It took me another hour to figure out what was wrong. Maybe I’m an idiot but if you’ve never done this before, every little step matters. Thanks for the tutorial!

How do you enter the port?
@@apfelbaum4777 the port comes after the IP address separated by a colon. Example:
192.168.0.0:5000
Ip-adress:port
I just did my VPS in Texas from Las Vegas! Genius! I configured the F-wall before the Win-Server restart. I did it to prevent Nifarias' former friends from mucking things up a bit.

Absolute best RDP video ever, especially for over the internet.
You better have a long complex password opening up your desktop to the world. Port scanners are not stupid. They will endlessly hammer multiple ports with access attempts.
Doesn't matter how complex the password is, you will get DDoS'd and rendure your PC and or entire network subpar performance or unsuably slow.
It's dangerous Af to have RDP open to the internet. We got hacked and ransomware from this last year. Looking at the event logs, there were hundreds of RDP login attempts each day the months leading up to the attack as they tried to find a password.
@@MikeCarey101 Couldn't you just use the Account Lockout Policy to stop the PW cracking?
@@AlexanderZockt you COULD, but you can also put a bandaid on an axe wound... The proper way to do this is to use a SSL VPN, then connect to your computer via RDP.
This product is way too complicated than say TeamViewer--too many hoops to jump through. Workable products one pays for should work easily else it is not attractive to me.

My advice is use a VPN to save yourself from all kinds of attack and security issues.
Now i'll just test at school if it works, if it doesn't i'll just figure out a way to fix it

I've done all of this and follow you step by step but the result still the same ( i use RDP provide by windows 10 Pro ) : The remote office cannot connect for one of the reasons detailed below:
1-Remote access is not enabled
2-The remote computer is turned off
3-The remote computer is not available on the network

once i change the port # my desktop does not want to let me remote in even after changing the firewall, I've tried different ports but it still wont connect i just changed it back to 3389 and cont. After I completed, I am using a VPN and would like to keep it running but tried connecting from my phone and wont establish a connection.(tried LOCAL and VPN ip while it was running)
I would like to see a new vid with a set up with a VPN on the desktop you are remoting into would be a great help. Also if you could please change one of the desktop backgrounds so there is a better understanding on what pc your working on.

Tehnically ok, but from security reason very dangerous. I had just theese days on 4 forwarded rdp ports (not standard ports) tousands of brute force attacks. They will identify rdp ports with scripts based on their feedback. We had no succesful connect, but if any user would have a weak password they would have success. Also can it happen, that your client will be locked because of these attacks.
Better would be a clean solution like guarcamole, rport, rust desk,mesh central or remotley, dependend on your need, and all open source.

so its your IP and the Port is the unique one to that Desktop? Basically like your ISP IP then computer 1 is say Port 5001, computer 2 is 5002, etc.? It doesn't auto load All of the PCs in that port?

I have a work pc and a home pc and I'd like to remote from each to the other. The problem I have is with the users. They are on the same wireless network but neither pc lists the other pc as a location where I can select a user to give access. Please help :)
