I have been a passenger Safair many times . I have never been booted off due to overbooking . We have always taken off on time and landed 5 minutes early . My booked luggage has never been lost or delayed temporarily.
At other end of flying experiences , I was caught in the massive snow storm on 1 December 2023 in Munich , when Lufthansa cancelled about 500 flights over Germany , including my first class ticket .You can’t imagine the chaos which passengers had to endure . Eventually about five days later , to my great gratitude, I managed to get an economy ticket on Emirates via Dubai to Johannesburg. To the credit of Lufthansa they delivered my luggage about 6 weeks later . This escapade cost the travel insurers about R80,000. The lesson from this is that if you ever get caught in a mass cancellation , you must get out of the terminal and into one of the rapidly diminishing hotel rooms as a matter of urgency .
SAA used to overbook. Left me standing in the check-in queue for a flight to London without saying a word. The person operating the check-in counter just walked away. Nowadays I only fly FlySafair. They fly on time, and I have personally never heard of anybody that was bumped.
My niece was bumped and left stranded. She had to pay an EXTRA R850.00 to be allowed to catch an afternoon flight. This happened on the 16th of November 2024 at about 05H50
Previously it was only the disastrous SAExpress flying the Durban East London route… it was a disgrace of an airline… so in comes FlySafair and saved the situation… reliable on time flights. Same for PE - Dbn route. Will be a huge problem should they be grounded. What are the alternatives… Micky Mouse Airlines ?
There is only one airline that I will use and that is Safair - they are always on time, the planes are clean and the crew are friendly and professional. I guess this interview is a matter of sour grapes because Safair are number one and they are not!
Remain are important and offer a vital service. Too small to compete in the bigger picture. For 40 yrs I have flown major airlines, include SAA, Domain and others, all overbooked when required as do so many international. What airline will invest in SA when govt tell them how to run their business, including partners, business operating procedures, I exclude safety which SA must excel, but let govt stay out of business. Waiting for Govt to pay Comair the money awarded for anti-competitive tactics, the precedent has been set.
With all due respect what has cemair done for the people flying up and down the country. They just don’t like competition. I fly once per month between Gauteng and Cape Town and never once have they come up on my radar. And as for Nationality of ownership this is just BEE and nothing more and frankly Xenophobic😢 to the Highest degree
BEE : Agreed. On consideration; I skeem that this * Ownership * regulation is yet another unfair attempt to protect the multi-broken / multi-crashed; Taxpayer bailed-out zombie airline that is SA Airways ... ! 😡💩🪰🖕
You really don't know what you are talking about. Flysafair is breaking the law. The CPA clearly states that you can not charge and receive money for something you don't have. Quantas Airline was fined $20 million Aus for the exact same thing
Easy for you to say you don't do it when you haven't been caught out yet. Now you can play the good guy but do you sleep at night. Airlines in SA have been doing it for decades. I've been bumped off flights a few times in my life
some airlines even cancel a flight when not enough passengers, this happened to me last year, my flight from Hannover via -Frankfurt -Jan Smuts, on Lufthansa, in July 2024, all thy did was offered me another flight from Hannover to Amsterdam, i slept in a hotel in Amsterdam and flew KLM to Jan Smuts the next morning, , when asking at Hannover why flight cancelled thy said not enough passengers, the original flight from Frankfurt to Hannover was cancelled, so there was no connecting flight from Hannover to Frankfurt,
On the 16th of November 2024, at about 05H50, my niece was told that she can't drop off her luggage after she had checked in on line. She had to take another flight in the afternoon after paying what I will call a penalty of R850.00. It was R850.00 over and above the amount that had to be paid for the flight. This was with FLySAFAIR
Just yesterday (15/1/'25) I had to rebook my parents onto another flight as well as my sister's flight (she is 64 and is our parents carer). Original booking was 10:00 to 15:00 (dad 92,mom 89). We booked 2 wheelchairs for them and they couldn't help us. It was cruel to say the least
Alec Hogg, the above is my post. I regularly commute (with Safair) from Cape Town to either Jhb or Lanseria and barring the above, never had a bad experience with them. Because I am not familiar with Cemair I watched a few RUclips videos and comments on them. I then objectively looked at their service destinations and prices. They are not exactly competitive. However, what scares my pants off are the insanely bad ratings they get on Tripadvisor. I say that after I also looked at Safair's ratings over the same period. I faithfully follow Biznews and appreciate your objectivity but in this case I think you are trying to blatantly influence your followers perception. Pls go back to being objective, it suits you better
@ Flysafair is totally an opposition to SAA, at moment the only airline flying out of Lanseria to Durban/Cape Town/soon will be George again/Port Elizabeth/ from Jan Smuts airport they have so many flights to the same destinations, such a pity British/ Kulula went bang, as it was even more opposition to SAA, i know one should stand by your national carrier but while ANC runs it its not good supporting it as all the profit goes into the ANC cadres pockets
The question of course is, if Safair is willing to do this for extra profit, what else are they doing that passengers are not aware of. Cutting corners on Aircraft maintenance to increase profits maybe????
@ Sure, I only flew with them about 20 times so far, so its a small sample rate , but remember it’s a small local airline so they only have CRJ and Dash8 planes not comparable to the big international airlines, but service and friendliness of personnel and pilot competency has always been awesome.
You will not catch me dead on a Cemair flight. Ever.
I have been a passenger Safair many times . I have never been booted off due to overbooking . We have always taken off on time and landed 5 minutes early . My booked luggage has never been lost or delayed temporarily.
Good for you

I love FlySafair and make use only of their flights! I have never been disappointed.
Good for you.
FlySafair the only vaguely affordable airline. Kulula was targeted for that reason.
This is just another BEE load of BS. FlySafair is an outstanding airline

@xol535 that is wrong
They are supposed to find you a next flight without any money being paid,

Is our Government using its bullying tactic again? How many airlines have been closed down in SA because of competition😊? Flight Star, Kulula etc.

when you book on google flight website you get them there

all airlines do it, world wide
These guys are never fully booked therefore don't need to overbook

Ja well your flights are never full so you cannot overbook
Check for corruption. Somewhere.
all over the world thy over book,
the management at Flysafair likes to dance on and over the line. The way they treat some cabin crew is proof
Dissing the opposition. 😂
"FlySafair's claim all SA airlines overbook like them is rubbish"
Clearly written by a BEE employee. One of those 30% candidates, I guess...
Who the heck is Cemair?

Cem air CEO is having a bag of sour grapes and so disappointed to see him diss their competition .
Never heard of Cemair. 😂
i think its owned by Oppenheimer family,
Obviously they want to penalise Safari so that SAA can benefit . Safair are the best domestic airline we have in SA
You know you are talking nonsense
What, exactly is the problem? To me Cemair are playing games. They are shockers. I dont mind overbooking. It is common internationally.
Are FlySafair in opposition to South African Airways? we don't have a law depending on who you are i.e. Cyril Ramphosa and the likes.
thy are, ??????
@@Palmstreet-u7x I rest my case

Reselling seats when passenger doesnt rock up is cheating 😒 specially with none refundable...pffft
yes, that passenger paid for it, so if they get another passenger thy are getting payed twice
People in the comments thinking their anecdotal experience applies to everyone 😂
barring that, all airlines world wide do it,
90% of people have the same experience though. It becomes consensus.
This guy😂
The question of course is, if Safair is willing to do this for extra profit, what else are they doing that passengers are not aware of.
Cutting corners on Aircraft maintenance to increase profits maybe????
all airlines world wide do it,
@ Actually you wrong on that one.
@ ruclips.net/video/DXArJoCs8iQ/видео.html
Aircraft maintenance and safety is regulated. Overlooking is not.
@@Southghost5997 Now that is funny.
Using the word regulated, considering what continent we are on.
Really, really funny.
Love Cemair, definitely my airline of choice when flying in SA, we always get fantastic service.
really ?????

Flysafair offers R1000 as compensation
Never got that. Instead my niece was penalized to pay R850.00 to be put on an another flight.
Since when has this queries happened???🫣🤔
