    This is the first tattoo transfer video I've ever seen. Every fake tattoo tutorial was literally just drawing with eyeliner and then rubbing baby powder over it. I've been looking for this for YEARS.
    Thank you so so so much for sharing this!

      Hey, every film I've worked on this is how they do tattoos - never seen anyone free hand in the biz 😊 it probably happens in rare occasions but this way is the norm

  • @Freakmo

    Couple of clarifications (sometimes I assume things are self explanatory, sorry that I left these out of the video 😣):
    1. If you don't like the colour or the amount of blur in tattoo, you can absolutely adjust it to be your aesthetic - that's the beauty of Photoshop!😁 It'll be the same techniques just tweaked to your liking.
    2. I always recommend looking at reference photos. Everyone's tattoos hold up differently, some stay more of a dark navy blue, some fade to a pale blue grey, some blur into no detail at all, some retain a lot of detail, some lose big chunks of ink (like my rib tattoos 😥), some don't lose patches. If everyone copied this video as gospel then fake tattoos would be looking real boring, I encourage you to find and copy tattoo references that you like😊 These techniques can still be applied and then tweaked.
    3. The fourth tattoo that's meant to be 40-50 years aged is gonna not look right on younger skin. Obviously many tattoos don't get that bad, I wanted to show one of the more extreme examples I found to show different levels (refer to point 2).
    4. This is the technique most commonly used in the industry. I've never seen someone free hand a tattoo on set🤔, not saying it never happens but it's not the common way people do tattoos due to how long it takes to apply (compared to 10 secs for a tattoo like this), and the added difficulty with copying it exactly for continuity.
    I'm gonna try the tattoo on a hairy person when I'm back in Australia, and I'll post a video of how these tattoos held up after four days on my arm on my Instagram stories ✌️

    As someone who’s starting out this is so incredibly helpful! 2 questions, firstly, do you have to use a a laser printer to print them out to work? Also, if you were applying this to someone on a film who’s a little bit more hairy would it work just as well or would you have to prep beforehand? Thank you! X

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  5 лет назад +2

      Amazing Raymond also sells an inkjet version of the paper. I haven't tried it yet as everyone in film I asked uses laser, they said this works better but I don't have specific details as to why. I'll have to ask 😁 for hairy people, I'll do a test on David when I'm back home (overseas for sister in law's wedding at the moment), but I'd imagine it'd trap and flatten out hairs underneath as the waterslide coating is almost like a thin layer of gelatine on the paper, that releases with water and does transfer to the skin. I'll get back to you - good questions 😁

      The difference between a laserjet and inkjet printer (a "regular" printer) is usually quality. I have never tried printing tattoos in any way shape or form, but I know from experience that inkjet printers use tiny dots to make up the image, and laserjet doesn't. So I'm assuming that printing your tattoos on an inkjet printer will give you more dotted and less sharp images, although I think this difference will be barely visible.

    I have been waiting *forever* for a tutorial like this. I have a couple tattoos on my arm and am eventually going to get a full sleeve. This would be amazing to map out the placement on my arm with different tattoos to see what I like best. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!

    love this tutorial, definitely using this in the future and a little note from a tattoo lover- the biggest pet peeve I with on-screen tattoos is tiny pieces with amazing detail, real tattoos that are smaller cannot hold detail when aged so if its smaller than your hand, the detail will be simplified a great bit. Not a big deal just something I've noticed!

    I love your videos! Thank you so much for always putting up such professional videos. I'm a make-up artist myself and i already did a few hand drawn smaller tattoos and for a film once we used temptu alcohol transfer tattoos which also look pretty awesome. I'm just always asking myself how they do it when theres actual arm hair or chest hair over a tattoo.. cause for the transfer paper u also need to shave the parts u wanna put the tattoo on, right? If it's a lot of hair at least.. thank's and hey from germany

    Not at tattoos fade when you take care of them (which a lot of people don't), they will slightly when fully healed but proper healing after care and just taking care of your tattoo(s) in general they wont fade badly

  • @Rae.Harper
    @Rae.Harper 5 лет назад +5

    Tattoos dont fade... the ink bleeds over time but doesnt fade. It blurs into a big blob... depending on what the tattoo is. I have 12 of them, some of which are a decade old lol
    The only time they would fade like this would be with laser removal treatment...

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  5 лет назад +10

      Hey Rae, everyone's body takes ink differently, my husband's tattoos stay better than mine (which have dropped ink more easily). I mentioned in the video that the ink bleeds under the skin, the word fading is used to describe the physical appearance of fading when you're looking at them. These are some of the tattoo references I used when creating them: m.imgur.com/a/LLe2JYy everyone's tattoos age differently. Hope this helps!
