excellent content John-Metal, they like to change things up quite a bit, whenever they feel like they have been put in a box, they simply break the box.
BABYMETAL's management company, Amuse, also look after another idol group, Perfume, who are hugely successful in Japan and fairly well known internationally. Perfume's live shows are even more spectacular, filling Japan's big dome venues with complex stage sets, mind-blowing lighting and the odd bit of pyrotechnics. Amuse operates across the entertainment industry too, including TV. They have the knowledge, experience, staff and equipment to do a lot of the work in-house and the costs get spread across multiple acts. If it were just BABYMETAL on their own, they might not have the funds to do some of this stuff. Perfume operate in the world of J-Pop / EDM, so maybe not something you'd want to cover in a reaction, but I'd certainly recommend flicking through some of their live show videos to see what they're up to. They also have an experimental side, where they work with cutting edge technology and performance art groups. They do smaller shows using robotic stage equipment and advanced computer generated visual effects, so if you like to geek-out on live show production tech, there's a lot of dig into.
Yes. Instead of the standard “Devil Horns”, Babymetal symbolizes the Fox God with the Kitsune hand gesture. I’ve read that Yuimetal accidentally created the gesture, thinking she was doing Devil Horns, and the producers adopted it while they were creating the early lore of Babymetal. (Fans, correct me if I’m wrong.). The skull, in the upper right side of the Babymetal logo was also created by Yuimetal. The hearts in the “B” of their logo was Moametal’s contribution. In the first version of Babymetal’s logo (when they were a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin and officially known as Jūonbu - Babymetal), there was a lightning bolt which is part of Su-metal’s signature, now omitted.
The original logo Yui=skull Moa=Hearts SU=wings They were asked to design their own shirts for Sakura Gakuin's first show and Yui drew the Skull,Moa had the Hearts, and SU had a daisy but they went with wings from her Karen Girls days
I heard that story about the fox sign a long time ago, but there is nothing from the band to confirm this that I have seen, it may be buried somewhere in among the early untranslated interviews. They used to do comparatively quite a lot of local media interviews on radio etc. when they first started out, lately not so much choosing to maintain the mystery over the increased exposure they would get by sitting answering questions all the time.
I don't believe Yui was specifically mentioned in the story of how the Fox Sign was first used by Babymetal. I know of two translated sources, one is an early interview in _Nikkei Trendy:_ Kobametal: "The oft-discussed fox sign was originally introduced to the girls when I was teaching them the Maloik sign (the horns, malocchio) and they started playing with shadow puppets to make foxes, which I thought was interesting." There was also a video interview of the girls on _Hot Wave :_ [MC] I hear its origin was your mistakes, wasn't it? [SU] Yes. We were shown the photo to try the sign of the horns. [SU] But we didn't understand well. [SU] We said "It looks like a fox." and made different signs. [YUI] Our sign has been the fox sign ever since. [SU] Seeing our signs, our staff said "Well. The fox sign is alright." [MC] Your staff accepted it, didn't they? [SU] Yes, they did. ruclips.net/video/0sPscbu72FI/видео.html
@@Shoe-metal I'm also reminded of the other interview by soranews24 in 2013: “[I was hoping] to incite that strange feeling that makes you go ‘what is this?’” KOBAMETAL explains, going on to give a concrete example; “Like the movie Kill Bill. I think Tarantino probably really likes Japan, and he worked hard on reproducing that in the movie, but it’s just slightly off, right? Still, it has a lot of originality.” For KOBAMETAL, that’s where the entertainment is. “[If] we were to do just straight metal-having the girls screaming-it probably wouldn’t be as interesting!” also had this little mention: The kitsune sign, for those of you wondering, is the girls’ take on the heavy metal “devil horns.” During a photo shoot, they mistook the horns for a fox (“kitsune”) and they just decided to keep using it. As SU-METAL said, when asked what made BABYMETAL standout, “While we don’t always ‘get’ metal, we’re doing our very best. A lot of things come from our mistakes!” This makes it even more fitting that the group has adopted the kitsune as their de facto mascot.
@@autohmae That last quote from Su-metal aligns with what Koba said in the first interview I quoted, his very next sentence was: "Whatever the case may be, they seem to have enjoyed working on it, trying to think about 'what metal is' on their own and creating something new while being exposed to the music they were given."
Yes, they do the fox sign. Once upon a time, the three girls saw the horns sign with other bands. They did not know or recognize it and associated it with something they did know: the fox. That's why they do the fox sign. As a consequence, management had no choice but to create lore about a fox god.

Hi John, you probably have this a dozen times now, but there are a few different guides to Babymetal, but the benchmark would be Cryptic Misery's "Everything You Need To Know About Babymetal - A Babymetal Guide (updated). This video runs for just under 45 minutes but if you really want to know about Babymetal, this is the one to watch. There is a shorter version, but this is really just a jumble of facts and not really any of the fleshing out (the interesting stuff) of those facts. It runs almost 20 minutes, but most who watch this one are left with more questions than answers. So, if you are going to invest 20 minutes in expanding your understanding of Babymetal, you may as well grab some popcorn and settle in for the full version. It is much more fulfilling. If you are worried that no one will watch your reaction to the guide, don't be. Babymetal fans love seeing others learning about the band, from the beginning, all the way up to their recently broken hiatus. I promise you, the 40 minutes will fly by. You keep mentioning the stage set up. Honestly I would rate this about a 7 outta 10 compared to what they have done in the past. You want to see them at their finest I suggest " In the Name Of" from the Legend S show. Or anything from the "Tokyo Dome" show. And honestly...I doubt it cost them that much for that stage set up since they are reusing pieces from prior shows. Only high ticket items I saw would be the 3 thrones.

Raise your hands to the lord
Raise your voice to the world
Raise your flag. Let’s be together...
[Chorus: Sumetal]
Stand up KINGDOM
Unleash your FREEDOM
Endless journey. Endless dream
Wake up KINGDOM
Get it, FREEDOM
Raise the signal, go on without hesitation
Trust your friend
[Bridge: Sumetal]
Negative words
I don’t need a way back
In that bright place
Let’s live tomorrow
[Pre-Chorus: Moametal & Sumetal]
Raise your head to the lord.
Raise your sword to the sky
Raise your fists. Let’s be together...
[Chorus: Sumetal]
Stand up KINGDOM
Unleash your FREEDOM
Endless journey
Endless dream
Wake up KINGDOM
Get it, FREEDOM
Prove it Burn your life
Believe in miracles
[Verse 2: Sumetal]
It’s the beginning song
Deliver our voice
Resonate, our voices

This is the video you are looking for.
Dude, nice reaction. You need to check out Su-Metal being pulled out by the fox on her 20 birthday. Stay metal and stay Babymetal.
At the end of the show it was announced that on April 1st (Fox Day) and the next live show, there will be a 3rd permanent member added. Of course all the talk in the chat rooms is that Yui is coming back. We shall see. Had not noticed 3 thrones until you said it.
It's going to Momoko. She was the 3rd at this concert. I just don't see how they can not have it be her.
Please react more babymetal live performance 🦊🎸

Anyway, here's the link:

😮😮 Is it Cryptic Misery's guide time? I think its Cryptic Misery's guide time!!!!!
Su~Metal is related to Japanese multi billionaire Hiroshi Mikitani…He’s is her uncle from her mother side of the family!….All of BabyMetal Production you seen is paid by her uncle and Amuse Company.
Bts has one song they sang in mandarin (which i didn't know until now)" boy in love" and I think it's the only one of their song in Chinese, I thought it was edited but I saw jk in the studio rehearsing it. There's few of him singing little bit Chinese songs also v and suga singing a kids song .
I highly recommend the guide by CrypticMisery since you said you want to learn more about them. The full title is: "Everything You Need To Know About BABYMETAL - A BABYMETAL Guide (UPDATED)"
