I remember so wanting a poodle skirt but we couldn't afford to buy one. Since mom made practically all my clothes she made me a poodle skirt. Loved it.

Since we now have RUclips, NO ONE has to worry about whether or not they were born and raised in the '50s - especially if their parents had those 45s, like mine did.
1979 as a kid i was in NC and Sha Na Na just happened to be doing a show in the Coliseum. Dr. Hook was their opening band. Had to have been 20k people packed in there, it was wild.
There's NO "born too late" here. RUclips has EVERYTHING, and as for poodle skirts and saddle shoes, I can understand wearing them in the case of '50s Dances and Halloween Parties!
sigh did you see the cool moves with Santini heeh none of them can do that now. lets face it girls now you babies under 55 never had a poodle skirt but I am so glad I got to wear one just before the mini hit! grin grin. One thing I do know Donny could still wear those jeans!!
Well that would have been Denny who was a much loved professor of law and now we lost Lenny Baker just a few weeks back Well all of us are not 16 any more like in 1969! Bowser and some are still entertaining!
the little girl dancing with Bowzer almost looked like she was gonna cry at the end but i bet that now, years later, she looks back on the dance as one of the biggest highlights of her life! :D

Both of them pursued advanced degrees and became Ph.D.s -- Dr. Cooper in religious studies and Dr. Leonard in linguistics. Jon "Bowzer" Bauman stuck with the entertainment business. OHHH Kristen that is HILLARIOUS. What a great way to spin the story ROTF> BUT the moral of the story is keep away from HIGHLY pissed off blondes who are AWESOME at grudge holding.
Has anyone seen Sleeping With the Enemy where they use this song in one of the scenes? Would love to be Julia Roberts as Sara and have Donny play the part of Ben in that scene! :-)
I hated this singers persona but damn he could sing. This whole band is a real piece of American Music. How low was Bowser's octave range? Also Lenny the sax player was great.

That was so nice of Bowser to dance with that little girl. She will remember that for the rest of her life.
I agree!
Tearing up right here right now!

I had a skirt but it had a squirrel on it with a furry tail!
Yes they were terrific. Seems like happier times in those days.
They were happier, because you didn't have to listen to "unnecessary garbage!"
Was 17 and in Finnish army, love to listening this.

Best version ever of that song. Suits Donny's voice perfectly.

Their television show was quite funny .

Wonderful!!! Unforgettable music. 👍👏👏
I'm 15 and I have three poodle skirts and I wear them all with my saddle shoes!!!! Of course I get funny looks when I wear them, but I love it. :)
Wouldn't look quite so funny if ya wore them one at a time...
Now you're 21. Do you still dress that way?
Your 21 now do you still wear them

saw them in concert in the 70's in providence ...captain hook opened for them ..they were great..
I don't remember whether or not anyone opened for them in the early '80s in Providence, Rhode Island when I saw them as a teenager, but I loved it!
Doctor Hook, not Captain Hook 🤣
Yes, Donny. I remember Doctor Hook!
Am a long time She Na Na fan! They're terrific! Thank you.
Me too. We used to watch them when we were young. Every time I see Grease it takes me back.
I LOV SHA NA NA !!!!!!!
I remember watching this show.. and love bowser..
Bowzer and Johnny were my 2 favorites!
How on earth they are making such great covers! And that dance with that little girl, so nice.
